We stayed at howgill lodge every year for 10 years, it is a beautiful site and all caravans are kept to such a high standard. We used the shower block on occasions which were also immaculate. The shop was well stocked, we also stayed in the barns which are beautiful too and breakfast was amazing. My childhood memories are feeding the chickens with Mr Foster with a freshly picked egg on a morning for breakfast and Winston the Turkey! We were looking to come back this year but unfortunately they don’t take dogs but I will be returning in the future with my family!

To find the Lodge drive past Howgill farm and it’s just on the left.
A beautiful location with top notch accommodation.
The pod is well equipped including two bedrooms one is only little but perfect for little ones. All towels are included and toilet roll.
You can park directly outside your lodge.
It’s recently been modernised and is done well!
We were a family of 4 and it was the perfect size 6 would be a push.
You have everything you need, there is also a shop on site where you can get croissants and coffee in the morning and bits you may need whilst there.
The hot tub is an added bonus, give it a good two hours to heat up.
I’d recommend you save the location in sat Nav as phone reception is hit and miss but if it’s saved it seems to work.
There is wifi onsite and with each lodge.
There are plenty of places to walk too but also a short drive to Appletree Wick.If you want to eat out book in advance so you don’t miss out.
We spent quite a bit of time in the car to get out and about but worth it.
We would definitely go back again.

Just returned from camping at Howgill Lodge campsite. Lovely terraced site with spectacular views, lovely walks and 3 Alpacas on site. Plenty of room for our family sized tent. Waking up to the sounds of lambs and birds was very relaxing. Music off at 10pm and quiet by 10.30pm was observed. Fire pits to hire and beautiful sunsets with a glass of wine. Would definitely recommend and come again.

We spent 3 nights at Howgill Lodge campsite in our caravan. The site is on a steep slope which is terraced but well maintained and peaceful, with hot showers, free Wi-Fi and breath taking views of the dales. The dog walk is in a beautiful wood which was full of bluebells when we visited. There is a coffee and brownie café 50yds down the lane (which sadly we never got to try, but looked nice). Their are lots of walks which are accessible from the campsite. The only downside is access to the site is down a long single track lane which is ok as long as nothing is coming the opposite way.

A well run site in a beautiful setting quite small but compact. Lovely showers with plenty of hot water on tap. The site is tiered which allows good views of the spectacular countryside. Fresh coffee & croissants on sale early morning for those needing a caffeine boost. Laundry facilities also on offer & freezers for those who need ice packs replenished. If I had a criticism it is not a great deal of space between pitches so at times felt you lacked privacy. Good quiet rules so noise was never an issue. Just wish they had more electric pitches as this would have made stay more comfortable.

Stayed here for the second time in 12 months and this site is fabulous!!

We requested the same lovely pitch (25) as last year for our tent. Each pitch has a picnic bench too which is great.

The new toilet blocks are kept immaculately clean with hot showers. The shop sells basic items, fresh pastries
and coffee in the mornings, fridge and freezers are great, as are the washing up areas which are spotless.

The 10.30pm curfew was adhered to by all the campers, and the site was lovely and peaceful during the day too.

We wanted to extend our 5 night stay but unfortunately our pitch was already booked up.

Booked for two nights at Howgill Lodge after finding it on the internet, this site is in a beautiful location. Layout of the site is tiered giving great views out over the Dales, facilities are first class and well maintained. Essentials are available from reception during the day and there’s a Brownie Barn a short walk from the site where you can get amazing Brownies and hot drinks. The campsite is very peaceful and there are some great walks so no need to take your vehicle out. Fire pits can be hired from reception where you can also get wood
Highly recommend this site, will definitely be going back

We recently, last week, stayed at Howgill Lodge camping and caravan park in our campervan. We had before Covid been regular visitors and had forgotten what a gem of a site/location this is. The new owners are busy improving the site with two new toilet/shower blocks and other small changes. The new dog walk area (the old one given over to three alpacas) was quite stunning with the bluebells and wild garlic. It is comforting to know that there are no huge changes planned as the site’s best accolade is its ability to merge into its surroundings and feel totally unspoilt.
Its location close to Simons Seat, Barden Moor, Appletreewick and Burnsall, not forgetting Bolton Abby is second to none. Where else can you reel off so many glorious locations, all within walking distance,
The refurbished Brownie café close to the site and its sister café at Parceval Hall are worthy of a visit. The New Inn and Craven Arms at Appetreewick along with the Red Lion at Burnsall are must go to pubs.
This really is a gem of a site and the walks directly from the site are stupendous. We hope once again to be regular visitors

We have just returned from an amazing weekend at Howgill. From start to finish everything was first class. The pitch we were allocated had lovely forward views and we were right next to a shower/toilet block although this did not disturb us. The showers are hot and plentiful with rainfall heads, some hotels I’ve stayed in don’t even come close.

The coffees and pasties on site were very welcomed and the brownie barn is only a short walk away. You can hire fire pits and kindling to sit at night and watch the amazing start constellation. There is a laundry, somewhere to store your food with labels provided and further showers and toilets across the site.

We loved the alpacas and our visit to Bolton Abbey. We most definitely be returning, fantastic.

This is a beautiful place to stay. We took our motorhome and stayed for 4 nights, stunning views all round and the staff are so helpful, nothing too much for them. the pitch was at the top near the main entrance , good amount of space and level and got good reception with the WIFI. There is a small selection of goodies if you run short in their reception shop also serving the most amazing barista coffee and pastries on weekend mornings (a welcome bonus) There are at least 3 shower blocks and toilets around the site so no need to que or wait, all spotlessly clean - amazing. Having 2 dogs with us who enjoy getting mucky, the dog shower was invaluable.
The only one, very small thing I would mention, is there is no designated safe dog walk enclosure. The dog walk is in the forested area, I felt was really steep and slippery to walk on so avoided this after my one and only attempt. We will definitely be staying again and highly recommend this little gem.

Hi, Jenny, sorry I have only just seen the question. BBQ's are allowed as long as you don't burn the grass or picnic benches. Campfires are not. We don't allow fire pits either, so you must have gone unseen with yours Lisa!?
