We arrived late afternoon at The Dovecote, although we stayed across the road at East House. Jane served tea/coffee and fantastic biscuits in the walled garden and couldn't have made us more welcome. The rooms are large and have good bathrooms. We enjoyed dinner at a large table with 4 other guests, all of whom like us, were walking Hadrian's...

15 minutes walk up the hill from Chesters fort. Friendly but discreet owners. Very nice dinner after a full days walking (nearest pub is a mile away). Lovely Georgian House with good bathrooms. Quiet and away from the main busy road which cuts through Chollerford. Highly recommended as a stop off point if walking the wall.

Loved it. A very nice house indeed, with very friendly and extremely helpful hosts. The room was clean and comfortable with a very good bathroom. Great breakfast. Thank-you Mandy & Kathy (the sisters)

The Dovecote was the best accommodation we had out of the 5 nights spent along Hadrian's Wall. We instantly were made to feel at home, with Jane bringing us tea and biscuits to enjoy on arrival after another day of walking, which we devoured whilst relaxing in their lovely garden. She also happily offered us a cooked meal (which we...

We stayed here at the end of a long day's walking on the wall. We were all shattered and dreaded the walk uphill but it was worth it. We received a friendly welcome, fantastic food from home grown ingredients and excellent support and service. 2 of us loved their room so much they would have stayed the rest of the...

We stayed in the Dovecote for four nights in August 2013. We opted for self-catering (only available for three or more nights) rather than B&B, mainly because the self-catering option is £25 cheaper per night during the week (£15 at weekends). There's a small but well-equipped kitchen downstairs where we prepared breakfast, and several good pubs within a half hour...

We stayed two nights in the dovecote as a base to explore Hadrian's Wall. It's a lovely spot. The garden is stunning. We were greeted on arrival with a pot of tea and our hosts turned out to be super knowledgeable about local spots, sights, and pubs. The dovecote is tastefully appointed, very airy and light filled. There's a mini...

We stayed at East House while walking Hadrian's Wall. Our evening meal with other walkers included fresh lettuce and the most delicious tomatoes from the garden. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom spotless. We were sorry that we could not stay in the Dovecote - it looked delightful, but I preferred the larger room inside. David and Jane could...

Stayed for two nights with my girlfriend at the Dovecote B&B in July. This is a lovely conversion (of a dovecote obviously!) surrounded by a walled kitchen garden. Ideal base for walking adjacent sections of the wall, and is located within easy walking distance of the AD122 explorer bus. Hosts (David and Jane) were most obliging and kindly shared their...

“The Dovecote is a separate accommodation from the main house. It is an excellent choice for a quiet, peaceful stay. It is well equipped with a kitchen, sitting area and large upstairs bedroom. The TV in the bedroom has a DVD player and there are DVD's provided in the nightstand. That was a nice touch.”
