Value
Book directly with owners for value. 4-star self-catering cottages, part of the oldest property in Bangor-on-Dee's historic village, built in the 1630s, retaining original oak beams and wattle-and-daub walls. The 4/5 bed Stableyard Cottage is annexed to the 17th century building, while the two 2/3 bed cottages are barnstyle conversions of 19th century outbuildings. Two excellent local pubs and Bangor on Dee racecourse easily accessible. 300 metres from the River Dee and its ancient bridge (fishing by arrangement). Convenient for Chester, Shrewsbury, Ellesmere, Llangollen and Snowdonia. Ideal for the business visitor to Wrexham Business Park and Industrial Estate. Free Wifi. Prices include a 2-day starter pack of DIY breakfasts, comprising cereal, muesli, eggs, bread, butter, preserves, plus milk, tea and coffee. Two resident cats, Nora and Behnaz, should not trouble you for anything more than a kind stroke or tickle, but this does make it difficult to accommodate guests' pets, but we are always happy to consider small dogs, who don't moult or shed, on an individual basis.

Gorgeous little self catering cottage I could easily move into. The stableyard has everything you need and with the village shop right opposite, its in the perfect location with two nice pubs within a stones throw if you don't want to cook for the evening or just head over to sample the delights of the local Wrexham lager which is a must! The cottage itself is spotless and the decor is lovely, comforting and homely. The owners are so welcoming and friendly too and the added touch of a breakfast basket has everything you need to start the day off before a nice walk along the River Dee, a day out to the race course or a visit to the beautiful City of Chester. Highly recommended for that perfect little getaway and can't wait to visit again!

This was my 2nd stay at the Stableyard and it wont be my last.
Very well positioned right in the middle of the beautiful village, parking wasnt a problem either.
Those with some mobility issues may find it easier to stay in the cottage overlooking the front of the property. It has an extra toilet ( and extra bed ) and is easily accessible via a pavement entrance. The rear cottage has a quaint cobbled front, beautiful but I can fall at the drop of a hat so the other equally as lovely one, is always my first choice.

Thank you for your lovely and helpful review. The quaint attractions of a 400-yr-old listed property, such as cobbles and quirky surfaces, can equally be a disadvantage for some. Our largest cottage, as you rightly point out, can be accessed from the pavement with parking immediately outside, while our smaller cottages are more secluded, away from the road and accessed via a cobbled courtyard. We look forward to welcoming you back!

This has been a great experience, from the moment we booked, with excellent communication via email from Roger, who went over and above to give us the advice and information to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The cottage is beautiful, so much character, cosy and welcoming - we loved the breakfast hamper too! We were made to feel so welcome - I would highly recommend this accommodation and we had a great mini break, exploring the surrounding areas. Thank you!

Lovely stay, such a cozy cottage. Really comfortable and clean.
The breakfast hamper included fresh milk and butter and is such a nice and thoughtful touch.
We walked to Bangor races along the river and had drinks and dinner in the pub a short stroll away after. Would recommend.

Room Tip: We parked easily on the road outside the cottage. The shop, which opens early, is directly opposite.

I stayed at Stableyard cottage with some friends during May and had a wonderful time. The property is quaint and very well equipped. The hosts are friendly and attentive and the location was perfect for our needs. The breakfast hamper was a lovely addition and very much exceeded our expectations. I will definitely be returning!

No opportunity to even enter premises as simply parking our Motorhome outside this B&B allowed owner to display a level of hostility that shocked us.
The owner being unhappy at our parking and recognising my accent then shouted including the statement "and get back to Scotland"

The Stableyard has changed hands since this review was posted and, being in Wales, the premises welcome fellow celts, indeed visitors from all over the world.

Having just come back from the 2 bedroom cottage, I had to leave a review immediately. It was lovely, the owner was very friendly and welcoming. It was clean and had every amenity needed. We was left with cereals, milk, tea and coffee. I was extremely impressed both bedrooms had an ensuite, plus a downstairs bathroom. I honestly didn't want to leave.

Had a great weekend at this cottage. Everything you need is on hand, very clean and very comfortable. Ideal location for races. Will definitely visit again and well worth the money. Not far away from big town center.

The times of the first race vary hugely throughout the year, but we always try to let you check in about an hour before the first race at the latest. The racecourse is a mile away, a quarter of an hour's walk or a couple of minutes' drive.
