Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I organised my combined Birthday with my 3 sisters on 7 October 2023. I worked with Clare from The Events Team and Hannah from Reservations. We had about 80 guests and 30 performers. It took 5 months of planning but everything worked out perfectly. Clare, Hannah deserve a medal for all of their efforts and patience. They really went the extra mile on everything. Clare is so professional, thoughtful, pragmatic, caring and kind. She knew how much effort I made supplemented with her effort too. I can wholly recommend the Events team for unrivalled support and professionalism. Hannah was equally professional with the Group booking and arrangements for all my guests. The Management were wholly supportive and got really involved with my event, pulling out all the stops where possible and I genuinely felt that everyone at the hotel worked hard to make the event successful and memorable for everyone involved. On the day, everyone was so professional and helpful which made everything run smoothly. Honestly, I can't thank you all enough! I hope I have not missed out anything. All the very best, Marc

We had a family gathering to celebrated our mother's 90th birthday. We had afternoon tea, which was excellent. Plenty of lovely sandwiches and cakes, with a good supply of tea and coffee. The Oak Suite was well set out and included a lovely decorated Christmas tree. All the staff were helpful and very polite. We have always found the Alverton to be an excellent venue for our family occasions, infact we will be there again, for a meal on Boxing day.

I was here on a business stay for the whole week. The staff made my stay very enjoyable as they were so attentive, friendly and extremely polite. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was very comfortable and the food was excellent every evening. It was a bonus that there was an EV charging point at the hotel too. I would highly recommend a stay here and next time I will visit with my husband for sure.

So we visited the Alverton for afternoon tea to celebrate my daughters 18th Birthday. Everything was just perfect! The food was fantastic, the venue was superb and the staff were super helpful. One member of the team, Eden, was particularly helpful and really went above and beyond to ensure our afternoon tea experience was just perfect. Our ages varied from 14yrs old to 75yrs and we covered 3 generations. We will definitely be booking again! We had a little peek into the grand hall and were blown away by stunning decor set up for a function, I am sure that the celebratory group would have had the best night too! Cant wait to go back! Thanks so much to the whole team!

We are just back from a wonderful weekend break at The Alverton to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had good weather for our shopping trip into Truro but if we had been stuck in the Hotel, we really wouldn’t have minded. We had a Courtyard room that was beautifully decorated, very spacious, comfortable and well appointed. We ate in the restaurant for both evenings and breakfasts. The food was lovely on all occasions. The staff were also very polite and attentive. Will definitely return!

Dear Andrew, Thank you for your wonderful review. I'm pleased you chose to dine with us on both evenings and the food was lovely. Likewise, the breakfast team will be thrilled to hear how much you enjoyed it each morning. The Courtyard rooms are beautifully designed and I'm pleased that it doesn't matter whatever the weather does, because your stay was perfect either way. We look forward to welcoming you again. Best wishes Larissa Guest Relations Manager

We reserved The Alverton as attending the Cornwall Tourism Awards in Truro Cathedral, which is in walking distance to the Hotel. The Alverton is a beautiful period property, set back in a peaceful location in Cornwall's only city. The welcome on arrival was warm & genuine and our room was beautifully appointed, Although we had reserved one of the smaller courtyard rooms, was very surprised at the great variety of amenities, space & quality too. An early evening drink in the bar and breakfast was, sadly, our only dining experience due to our schedule. Both were excellent, served by engaging staff in lovely surrounds, and our only disappointment was that we could not have enjoyed dinner too. Both The Alverton & Truro are wonderful. Both have so much to offer and are well located within Cornwall to be able to explore what's right on your doorstep as well as all the County has to offer. Highly recommended and we will be back, next time to enjoy more than just the one night and with dinners too.

Had a great stay here at the Alverton, exceeded our expectations. Had a lovely twin room which was well appointed and spotless. Loved the tea tray with hot chocolate, coffee, water and shortbread. Beds incredibly comfortable and room was cosy with modern decor. Breakfast included and was well cooked although thought the menu was slightly small, was nice all the same though. We were attending an event at Hall for Cornwall and was only a 10 or so minute walk as was town. Train station was 25 minutes (ish), be prepared its all uphill going back. Looking forward to going back.

Our stay at the Alverton was a real treat. We stayed for my birthday, me, my husband and our Scottish Terrier, Douglas. Our room was a touch of luxury with everything you could ask for for a special occasion. We had arranged to eat out for dinner but once we walked into our room we decided room service would be a better option. We did have a cheeky glass of wine in the bar before we retired to our room for the evening, the team were very friendly and made us feel welcome. Room service and breakfast were both delicious and the service superb. Thank you to everyone who made our stay... EXCEPTIONAL!!

What a special place! We checked in on a cold and wet autumnal afternoon to a warm greeting from the Receptionist Sally. We stayed in The Bishop Suite - beautiful romantic room, vintage styled, yet modern. Side by side roll top baths. Lovely Bloom products, big fluffy towels and plush dressing gowns awaiting us. We didn't venture out given the weather, which turned out to be a blessing. Welcoming ambience in the busy bar - we spent the early evening drinking cocktails, walking through to the restaurant for our evening meal - superb. There is no need to leave the hotel - a one stop destination that delivers.
