Travellers' Choice
We're a smart and friendly Georgian townhouse right in the centre of Truro. Our 34 rooms and 9 - 4 Star AA open plan apartments are beautifully designed and furnished; our busy but relaxed restaurant is popular with the public as it is with guests. We're not part of a chain, we're independent; taking the trouble isn't an extra, it's a basic minimum. Reception is staffed continually along with room service and Wi-Fi throughout the building and gated on-site parking for £6.00 per day.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A five star experience. I have stays in many hotels all over the world. Mannings is up there with the best for its customer service! The team were kind, thoughtful, interested in their guests and went above and beyond in making me feel special.

We stayed for one night at this extremely well located hotel in the city centre. It has its own gated car park which avoids any additional car parking costs. The receptionist was polite and efficient and check in was very easy. Our room was very comfortable and included tea and coffee making facilities. The price included a continental breakfast which was very good but hot food was available at an additional cost. All the staff were friendly and helpful and I would have no hesitation in returning.

Hello KHammond15 Well, we would love to see you back with us as well. As you mention we are ideally located right in the heart of Truro and a perfect spot to explore Cornwall from. We are extremely proud of our team here so thanks for mentioning how polite and efficient they were at check in. Our Continental breakfast buffet is the perfect way to start your day but if you are feeling really hungry, we can cook you a terrific Mannings full English breakfast. See you soon ... The Mannings Team.

Excellent continental breakfast. Fresh fruit, greek yoghurt, coulis, fresh bread and pastries, cereal, ham off the bone. Coffee could be hotter. Room spacious and well equipped. Only problem is the noisy fan at the rear of the building.

Hello Geoffen Breakfast is the most meal of the day and we're so pleased to hear that you enjoyed our Continental Breakfast Buffet. Of course, we also offer some great optional cooked fresh to order items as well. We'll mention the comment about the coffee to the morning team and if you have any issues with your room in the future, please talk to us direct as we hate to think that anyone leaves us feeling disappointed with their stay. To fellow bookings.. please be aware your booking will say breakfast included ... after you have booked ...your confirmation will say continental breakfast only. We felt this was unhonest, misleading and a bit of a scam on booking .

Hello janelX3020CE Thank you for contacting us and it's such a shame as you talking about the fact that you have booked with us via a third party site and not us direct. We have always included a Continental Break Buffet within our room rate and if you book with us direct this is made very clear to you at the point of booking and it is mentioned on our website and on all of our confirmation correspondence to you including our pre-arrival letter. As we mentioned your booking was made through a third party company and it does clearly mention that a Continental Breakfast Buffet is included and it also mentions that a full English breakfast can be purchased as a supplement for £14.50. We in no way mean to scam anyone and if we could control the description used by the third party company we would. The Mannings Team...

This is not the best hotel in Truro, we’d say the best in Cornwall. Rooms lovely amd always spotless - housekeeping do an amazing job ! Food in the restaurant outstanding - the chap who runs the restaurant with the moustache ( sorry we don’t know your name ) is so helpful amd knowledgable about the food and drink offering and it gives you confidence when ordering! I have a shell fish allergy but am happy to eat fish here and the cocktails are amazing ( if we win the lottery you will find us here for a month ) Great in winter as well as summer as it’s in the middle of the twin and has its own parking so great for the theatre and shopping. Thanks again for a great stay

We used to live in Truro and we came back to attend a wedding, Mannings always had a good reputation and we’d eaten in the restaurant and enjoyed it in the past so we thought we’d give it a go. The location is great with parking on site and on arrival the staff were friendly and the communal areas really nicely presented. Unfortunately that’s were the good points ended. The room was very tired and in desperate need of a refurbishment, the bathroom was also poor, the shower mixer tap fell apart in my hand when I tried to use it. At almost £140 for the night I’d expect better than freeze dried coffee in the room. Breakfast was poor, I like a continental breakfast but if that’s what you’re offering it need to be good and a few hunks of ham and some bland cheddar doesn’t really cut it. Overall I’d say these guys are trading on a reputation they don’t live be up too and getting away with it because the options in Truro are limited.

Hello Y6838SOchrisb We always welcome comments from our guests and we are happy to discuss all the comments that you have made with the team here. Of course, we appreciate the fact that you chose us to start with and for mentioning the team. We do offer a variety of rooms at varying price points from our standard doubles to our city doubles and apartments and we do believe that we offer good value for money as most of our reviews will attest to. Of course, we will look into the broken shower head and obviously apologise for this. Our Continental buffet does consist of, cereals, freshly baked pastries and French bread yoghurts, juices, fresh fruit and as you mention freshly carved ham and cheese - we generally receive some wonderful comments about our breakfast buffet. Could I ask if you spoke to us at check out about the way you felt? The Mannings Team.

The reputation of Mannings is really good in the area, so we were excited to be staying…. The reception area is nice, the receptionist at check in was very friendly. We went into the room and I expected more than what we saw. The double bed was tiny, the furniture basic, the shower (over bath) was small and not great pressure, the carpet looked old and warn and the floorboards dipped in places, the room smelled a bit of what we thought was the previous male guest’s deodorant, the bedding looked clean but didn’t have that freshly laundered smell. There was a desk fan but the room was sweltering hot all night, we opened the window (took some doing, it’s not obvious that they can be opened) but there was no air at all, it was much cooler outside than in. There was nothing that was ‘contemporary’ as the website says. The room and bathroom were all very clean though. The bar was tiny and we couldn’t get a seat unless we sat in the restaurant side so we went somewhere else for a drink. We weren’t asked on check out if we had a good stay etc. the location is fab and the car park is great, but I do have to say I felt very underwhelmed by the room and stay, it was very basic and I had expected much more from somewhere with such a good reputation.

Hello moojoose Thank you for taking the time to write a review and we will discuss all the points that you have made with the team here. As you say we are a great location as we are right in the city centre and our car park is perfectly placed. We appreciate the fact that you have mentioned how clean your room was and that the reception team were friendly. It has been exceedingly hot over the past few months and not all of our rooms have air conditioning so I am quite sure that your room was hot and in some of our rooms for safety reasons not all of the windows open completely or only open slightly. We do offer a variety of rooms to suit all budgets though from our basic doubles to our larger city doubles with walk in showers and air conditioning to or open plan apartments. Our bar and restaurant can be busy especially on the weekends and when a show is being performed at the local theatre so we're sorry that you couldn't find a seat in our bar area. We are always happy to talk to our guests at check out and you are more than welcome to raise any issues that you may with us. The Mannings Team.

The hotel is nicely central to Truro town centre, with easy access to cafes, shops and restaurants. I was travelling alone, and the staff made me feel very welcome and relaxed. The food in the restaurant is very good, and while I find dining alone of an evening uncomfortable, Karina and the other staff (sorry, I didn’t catch their names) made it a really enjoyable experience. Attentive without making me feel at all rushed, and conversational enough to stop me feeling to alone. For me that was worth so much. The room was spotless and cleaned every day. The shower is the type that is plumbed directly into the bath taps, but the pressure was totally fine! I did find the room very warm on a couple of evenings and the building does suffer the creaking floors from the room above, but nothing that was an issue. The secure car park was an unexpected bonus, as I felt my car was safe each night. Vehicle entrance is controlled by the staff, with a pedestrian gate that is passcode secure. Thank you to all the staff for making my staff so enjoyable. I would happily visit again.

Hello Sm1le It's wonderful to read your comments about the team and thanks for mentioning Karina as she will be so thrilled to see that you mentioned her, The housekeeping team will also be pleased to see that you mentioned how clean your room was. Yes, it has been quite warm for a few weeks now and we as we are a Grade II listed we are a bit creaky in a few places a you mention. Our central location makes us a great base to explore Truro and Cornwall from. Take care - The Mannings Team.

Stayed 2 nights in an Apartment situated in the secure car park. Fitted to a high spec & plenty of space. Lovely bathroom with accent lighting. Comfortable bed. Only a couple of downsides which I would not return in future visits. No air con but a table fan was provided but couldn't get room temp below 27 degrees. Constant issue with flies... as soon as I got rid of 4 flies... 6 more turned up. When checking out I wasn't asked how my stay was so thought I'd write a review.

Hello 585kerryf Lovely to hear from you and yes, Apt 201 is an ideal apartment when spending a few days here in Truro. It's spacious as you say, and has a wonderful shower and plenty of windows and ski lights to let in our lovely Cornish sunshine. It has been quite humid over the past few weeks and as our apartments don't have air conditioning it can be hot here so we are so sorry to hear that this had an effect on your stay. Of course, we do have our third-floor floors within the hotel that all have air conditioning so if you change your mind and would to come back in the future, we'd be happy to book one of these for you. There was an issue in all of Truro last week with small flying ants so we believe so this may have the issue with what appeared to be flies and we have checked the area each day to see if this is an ongoing problem. We do normally ask how your stay was and we will remind out team here to ask and thank you for writing a review and for the 4 stars. Take care - The Mannings Team
