Positioned on the A39 the location is handy for walking into Truro and we didn’t use our car at all during our weekend stay. Although arriving an hour early, we were welcomed to a cozily warm bedroom (number 4) overlooking pretty camellia and magnolia trees in the front garden (some traffic noise from the road but it didn’t disturb our sleep in the comfortable bed). Good storage to stow away our clothing and toiletries and a nice little table and chairs in the bay window to enjoy the tea and biscuits provided. My gluten free diet was catered for at breakfast with a range of cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurts as well as delicious smoked salmon and scrambled egg and omelette choices. The restaurants recommended by Peter and Norbert didn’t disappoint and we were given a street map of fhe city too.

The only downside was on the second morning our room wasn’t properly made up (for some reason the scatter cushions and bedcover had been stowed on top of the wardrobe) which was a little odd and it didn’t feel quite so welcoming. However overall we were happy with our stay.

We spent 3 nights here in a standard double room. The room was compact but beautifully clean, well dressed with a good selection of teas, coffee, biscuits and bottled water. The shower room equally clean however the fixed shower head was a little awkward as being short and with such a powerful flow from the shower you had no choice but to wash from head to foot even if you didn't really need to wash your hair! Breakfast was at timed intervals, no problem for us, and food plentiful and well cooked. Our only downside was the position, which looking at the photos appeared in lovely gardens. This much is true but it is right on the side of the main dual carriageway running through Truro and with hot weather and the window open the traffic noise meant poor sleep every night even though we were at the side of the building. There was also quite a lot of noise from other rooms and the plumbing in general. Our hosts were very friendly and on hand. Finding the parking is novel and requires good skills sometimes as you drive past the property on the dual carriageway and then turn into a little lane about 30 yards on called Spargo's Lane. It can be quite tight to get in and out of spaces and the lane in general. Had it not been for the road noise and resulting poor sleep we would have scored higher.

Stayed for two nights in room 5 that overlooks the front of the house. It was a good size room with a small double bed. There were two chairs in the bay window and it was nice to just sit and relax enjoying the view. The en-suite bathroom had a rainfall shower with converter. It was all tastefully decorated Despite being on the main road the traffic noise abated once the rush hour was over so we slept well even with the windows open.
When arriving by car / taxi you enter at the back of the house up a few steps. If you arrive on foot you arrive via the front garden up a slight incline. The house is typically Victorian over several levels so may not be suitable for those with limited mobility.
For Breakfast we had to book a specific time slot so that social distancing could be maintained. This worked well and we had a lovely relaxed, full English, breakfast.
Cliftons is ideally situated for exploring Truro. Even at our slow pace it only took about 5 minutes to wander into the centre of the city. When we first arrived, we were given a map and showed how to get into the centre.
Our hosts, Peter and Norbert, were very friendly and welcoming and we would definitely stay here again if in the area and would recommend

Me and my girlfriend stayed here for a few nights visiting friends in Truro.

Parking - The free parking to the rear was really handy. There was a bit of moving around needed on one occasion but otherwise wasn’t an issue and was great to have such easy access. Access is from a small lane off the dual carriageway, and can be quite tight dependant what car you drive. We drove an estate car and managed to fit no troubles.

Room - The room was clean, well presented and well stocked with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and some biscuits. In our room we had a kettle, Tv and two armchairs facing out of a large bay window. We read some reviews about traffic noise but this didn’t really bother us during our stay.

Breakfast - 4 choices on the menu. I had the full English, omelette and smoked salmon. All 3 options were cooked to perfection and really tasty. Covid restrictions meant 3 to the room which meant you had a bit more space. Norbert the host would asked for your breakfast time slot the day before. It was all well organised, with teas/coffee/juices as well as cereals, yoghurts jams/toast before the “main” breakfast item.

Overall a really great little find in a prime location a short walk away from the town, and a 20 minute drive to some really great sights/beaches. We will definitely be returning again.

An excellent bed & breakfast, right in the heart of beautiful Truro. The proprietors, Peter & Norbert were very welcoming and informative on places to visit in the Roseland area of Cornwall. The house and rooms are immaculate and tastefully decorated. Our room had obviously only recently been refurbished or decorated. It was spotless, comfortable and roomy. The breakfast room is equally tastefully decorated and immaculate, a perfect venue to enjoy the delicious, ample sized cooked breakfast. The B&B also boasts a lounge with an honesty bar for guests to enjoy if they so wish. The B&B is situated 10 minutes walk from the centre of Truro.

Just spent three nights at this lovely B&B. The place was absolutely spotlessly clean, very Covid safe and Norbert and Peter were fabulous hosts. The breakfasts were absolutely wonderful and plentiful with locally sourced produce. The location of the property is perfect and within easy walking distance of the city centre, with the added bonus of car parking at the rear. We would have no hesitation in staying here again if we ever return to Truro.

We have stayed here many times and always receive such a warm welcome. Great location short walk into Truro and Peter and Norbert always so helpful with lots of information/suggestions about possible day trips. The rooms are all beautifully decorated and just so clean and comfortable, varied selection of drinks and some delicious biscuits in the room. Lovely garden at the front and parking at the back of the property (entrance for parking via a lane further down the road). We always enjoy the varied breakfast menu which includes fruit juices, cereals, fresh fruit salad, selection of Traditional English breakfast dishes and toast plus jams or marmalades, tea or coffee. Quality Cornish ingredients always used. Would definitely recommend and looking forward to our next visit.

We stayed here for 4 nights in a lovely twin room at the back of the property. The room was bright and airy with 2 comfortable beds. The guest house was very clean and felt very safe in these COVID times. The hosts were attentive and we had a good selection at breakfast, all cooked to a high standard. Would definitely recommend this guest house being just a few minutes walk from the city centre.

stayed at cliftons guest house, could not fault the room (beautiful), bathroom was stunning, beautiful chairs and table in window over looking the front garden, lovely sitting there in morning with a cup of tea. 5-10 min walk into town which is handy, the owners are very helpful, esp if wanting advice on what to visit. Will def stay again, and highly recommend a stay here.

The room was spacious, the en suite very good, everything you could want - from a large shower to thoughtful toiletries left out. The tea/coffee making facilities were very good, with biscuits and hot chocolate provided also. Breakfast was generous and covered everything you could want, fruit salad, full English, cereals, croissants etc. The location is good, within a few minutes walk of the centre of Truro and its restaurants. The only problem one might encounter would be car parking space but we had no problem. Would recommend.
