The Stratford Park Hotel & Golf Club comes highly recommended for its cleanliness and welcoming atmosphere, with guests frequently praising the immaculate rooms and the hotel's cozy charm, underscored by real fires and a friendly staff. While the rooms are generally comfortable and the location is appreciated for its peace and proximity to local attractions, some visitors have noted issues with heating and ambient noise. We had one double room in the newer rooms, and one family room in the older area near the kitchens. The beds in both rooms were uncomfortable, particularly in the family room where a spring could be felt at a strange angle in the mattress and made it too uncomfortable to sleep on . The kitchens of course have to work all hours and in the the family room banging and crashing can be heard along with the constant drone of the industrial extractor fan well into the night and early morning. The buffet breakfast on the Saturday was fantastic, but on the Friday morning it was cooked individually and was quite pathetic in its quantity ,and served in a very dark breakfast area where it’s difficult to see what your eating. There are stains on the carpet of the family room and a head board fell off of a single bed in that room . The staff are all fantastic and friendly and good at what they do . We were a party of 4 adults and 2 children, unfortunately the adults all agreed it was a very expensive and disappointing visit.

Response from InnDepthHospitality, Manager at The Stratford Park Hotel & Golf Club
Responded 24 Jan 2020
We have read your review with interest and have shared your comments with the team. Upgrades of our original Farmhouse rooms has taken place this month so this will bring them up to the standard of our newer rooms. As with most older hotels they were not built as hotels so the layout has to work around the style of the building hence some rooms not being ideally located but we do have procedures in place to limit noise and disruption to guests. Regarding the pricing we have rooms available from £70.00 bed and breakfast if booked direct which is very competitive for the area. We're sorry we didn't tick all your boxes but will take onboard your comments.

We had a two night stay in a superior room which included a main course on the first night and full breakfast each morning. Room was clean and spacious with soft, fluffy towels. Staff were pleasant at helpful throughout our stay. Good selection of food at breakfast and that rare thing, a toaster which you don't have to use twice to get properly toasted bread. The reception is not staffed 24 hours but there is a night porter who can help if needed.

I spent back to back weekends at Stratford Park (long story...booking mix up at another venue!) and was pleased that I did (despite the weather!)

First visit was last weekend in Sept with 7 other golfers and we were all really impressed with the venue itself, the staff, the value for money and the golf course (which was in excellent condition). Manicured fairways and greens like glass added to the challenge with some fantastic holes.

Off the course the rooms were good, service in the bar (despite restrictions of table service only) couldn’t be faulted and the breakfast and evening meal were both very good. Bar prices reasonable with 4 pints coming in around £17.

The staff were brilliant - Sharon on reception and Chris, Alex, Holly and the team in the bar were always about and making sure we had everything we needed.

Fast forward a week to the first weekend of October and repeat of the above off the course. The weather did its best to stop us getting on the course however the two 9 hole rounds we did play were enjoyable even though it was lashing down! The course stood up to the test very well and the greens were still very quick.

Stratford Upon Avon is 10 mins in a taxi if you fancy a few beers/food outside the venue.

All in all I would recommend this venue for a very good, value for money UK golf break.

Only suggestion would be to make sure that once booked you ring the pro shop separately to check your tee times. A group in front of us had 12 playing but only tees times which caused a bit of confusion and delay on a day when the course was quite busy.

I stayed at Stratford Park last night for a wedding. The wedding was brilliant, the staff were attentive, the food was good and I cannot fault them. This is the only reason I have given two stars and not less.

However, we paid £165 for the privilege to stay at the venue for one night and given the choice, I wouldn’t have paid £65 never mind £165. The beds were uncomfortable as two singles pushed together, the room temperature was unbearable at times, the noise outside our ground floor room with golf buggies was also poor. This was a sign of things to come...

I stay away in hotels a lot with work, both before Covid and during covid and can categorically say this was the worst breakfast experience I have ever had in a hotel for the following reasons:

1. We had to ask for tea/coffee four times before 1 cup of coffee was brought out

2. The cereal choice I wanted wasn’t available so I changed to another cereal which was then given to me 25 minutes before my partners cooked breakfast came out.

3. The total wait for the cooked breakfast was 35 minutes from sit down

4. I specially stated a mushroom allergy and the breakfast still came out with mushrooms

5. I asked for a croissant so I wasn’t sat watching my partner eat his breakfast, I was given a plain croissant and then had to ask for butter which took another ten minutes

6. Once both of us had finished cereal, my partner asked for toast and it took a further 15 minutes to coke out and was so burnt it was inedible, at which point we gave up and went back to the room to check out.

I would have informed the manager/reception of my concerns on checkout but the desk was unoccupied and I was directed by a sign to just leave my key.

For £165 a night, I would expect much better and would never stay here again.

The Service and Attitude of the staff was disgusting, this isn't a friendly Hotel, there Is only 1 Disabled space also, so the Hotel Is not Disability Friendly, we paid £420.00 for 2 nights and the Room we got was nothing special, the biscuits were stale and the glasses were not clean, and there was dust in the room, it didn't live up to the Covid19 Cleaning Standards, as it didn't look clean. we came here when there was a heatwave, the room had no Air conditioning and the windows only opened a few Inches, there was direct sun light right into our room and we couldn't breath and felt like we were suffocating, our dog couldn't stand the Heat and was not coping well and looked like she was having heat stroke, my mum was getting over a stroke and still has high blood pressure and she couldn't hardly breath either, the Hotel offered room service so we thought we would try to cope with the heat and order some food, my Mother went to the front desk to ask for a room service menu as there was not one at the Hotel Room, my mum told her that we could hardly breath as the room was suffocating and that she was getting over a stroke and couldn't cope with the heat, and that our little dog could not breath either, firstly the Rude member of staff said there was no room service available, that there was no food available and the restaurant was booked up and there was no food, my mum couldn't believe it, and then my mum explained to the rude lady that we couldn't breath, that she was getting over a stroke and our little dog couldn't breath, she went onto to say that all rooms were booked up and that we would just have to put up with the heat and that she would send us a air conditioning fan, and my mum came back crying, she couldn't believe what bad service it was and that the woman just couldn't care less, I told my mum we was leaving and we packed up our bags and left, I would never ever recommend this hotel, they are not dog friendly and they are not disabled friendly, and they are not living up to the covid19 cleaning standards, all they care about is the money, we was not allowed a refund and I had to stay at a Travelodge instead, so I not only lost the money this rip off hotel took of us, but i had to then pay for a Travelodge, Im absolutely disgusted with the Shocking service and rude staff. Avoid this Hotel at all Costs....... If you are worried about Covid19 then don't stay at this Hotel, as it doesn't live up to the Standards. They lied about the Room Service, as when I booked it I asked if there definitely was Room Service, and they Said they did offer that, but when we got to the Hotel, they said they wasnt any.

Driving up to the hotel you can see it is a lovely location, it’s very quiet which you don’t get with other hotels I have stayed at in Stratford. My room looked out onto the golf course which was nice too. I was greeted very unenthusiastically at reception. The person who greeted me reluctantly wheeled themselves back from their desk at a pace which suggested my arrival was a complete inconvenience. I wasn’t informed of breakfast or advised that the lift was out of order, which although not an issue for me could’ve been problematic for others. The hotel has a bit of a grotty feel to it. It’s not notably dirty but when you start to pay attention you can see that the general areas of the hotel just aren’t that clean. The dingy colour scheme adds to this. Breakfast was disappointingly basic. The eggs laid out had shell on a couple of them and the pastries looked very cheap. The bacon was fine if a bit dry and the hash browns were very greasy. The coffee machine at breakfast was filthy too and had a cleaning warning light on so can’t imagine the inside was much better. The room was basic but acceptable. The bed was comfy albeit very soft but I liked that. However, the duvet was so thick that sleeping under it was unbearable. In the bathroom there was no shower gel although a pump bottle that said body lotion which had clearly been filled with either hand soap or shower gel - who knows! This may be fine if you’re here for the golf and you just want to lay your head somewhere but do not expect anything remotely enjoyable about this hotel. Having stayed in a large number of hotels in and around Stratford Upon Avon this is by far the worse.

Recently visited venue, couldn’t check in room til 4pm so went to the bar for a pint first as the bar woman worked the till I took a swig of my beer and went to pull out cash to pay, only to be told it was card only, when I told her I only had cash and no card she asked was I joking? Then it became apparent to her that I wasn’t, she took the beer off me with a look of disgust. There was a notice on display but was obscured by the coffee machine and other guests standing around the bar. I had to make do with asking the same bar maid to top up my bottle of water whilst I thought about a plan for payment for the nights entertainment. We later proceeded to check in and was met with the Manager and we informed her of the problem of card payments and only having cash. We also pointed out there was nothing on the website, she then continued to ridiculed us saying “well who doesn’t have a card”. we offered to give her £200 as security and run a bar bill, but she deemed that unacceptable as they just don’t take cash. However, we were offered to run a bar tab by leaving a card, clearly there was some difficulty understanding the situation of not having a card. The manager offered no alternative, no customer care, in fact started to ague with us and she even went as far as to blame the people who’s party we were attending stating they were aware of this and they should have informed us. However, I clearly pointed out it does not state this on the website.
How low can you get when people have paid thousands of pounds for their celebrations and they have taken their money and find it acceptable to be rude to their guests.
The following morning at breakfast the sausages were cheap and nasty, hash browns were steamed soggy and they fail to look after anyone with a lactose intolerance and was told the soya milk delivery had not arrived yet (9am) and when I was offered lactose free milk it was whole milk which I don’t like, and yet again no alternative offered. As for the room, it appeared clean and acceptable but as the weather was warm we turned the fan on and discovered it had clearly not been cleaned as all the dirt blew across the bed. Also the cleaner had left her zoflora cleaning spray on the window sill.
Be prepared for the worlds smallest safe in the room, the only thing you could fit in is your bank card, if you took one, but then you would need it to be ripped off at the bar anyway. Overall a shockingly poor experience, will not return or recommend.

My wife and I were given a room for a 2 night stay and on the first night never got a wink of sleep due to someone pacing up and down on the squeaky floor boards. We complained the following morning and were given another room. The hotel were very helpful, but because we had booked with Booking.com could not get any sort of refund. Cleaning in different places of the hotel could be improved. Firstly we noticed that the wooden tables on the patio near the bar had been stuffed with cigarette butt's in the grooves of the tables and the whole patio area covered in cigarette butts. The other area we noticed was the dining area which needed a lot of dusting.
Breakfast was good the first morning, but due to lack of people in the hotel there was no buffet breakfast on the second morning. I don't think we would stay there again.

Perfect for seeing the sights of Stratford Upon Avon if you don't mind a short drive, we found plenty of car parks at reasonable prices in town where all Stratford's tourist attractions can be accessed. The hotel like our room was beautifully decorated and had all we needed (iron, ironing board, hairdryer, tea/coffee facilities, free wifi and plenty of parking, spotlessly clean and a comfy bed). Our room overlooked a garden area and the hotel was quite and had a relaxed feel to it and off course perfect if you fancied a game of golf. There is a bar and restaurant and staff from front desk to bar staff were very friendly. Would definitely stay again.

We were greeted upon arrival by a fabulous lady named Bev who couldn’t do enough for us!. Following a seamless check in, we proceeded to our room (which had a beautiful view may I add). The room was well presented, light and spacious. We decided to head to the bar (making the most of a child free evening), Jackson looked after us throughout and made us extremely welcome, again nothing was too much trouble. The reasonably priced drinks lead us into the evening, we decided to dine in the in-house restaurant. Jason showed us to our table, yet another friendly member of the team who went above and beyond to make our stay a special one. The standard was extremely high and couldn’t fault dinner in any way. My husband and I have dined in many hotels over the years and it was most definitely one of the top of our list. Huge compliments to the chef!!!
I have to admit, we were a little unsure of what to expect as the hospitality has been hit hard due to COVID, but Bev and her team are a real credit to the industry.
A definite ‘must stay’.
Thank you Bev, Jackson, Jason and all the fabulous Stratford Park Family
