Just had the worst Sunday lunch I think I have ever been served! We waited 1 and a quarter hours for our steak and roast beef we ordered. The steak was incinerated, and they appeared with the roast meals for the children with an "sorry there aren't any Yorkshire puddings!". Unbelievable! The bernaise sauce with the steak was a dribble...

Had a few drinks before going on to a restaurant and was very impressed. Staff welcoming and friendly, brought drinks to your table. Nicely fitted out and good atmosphere. Will return and try eating here.

A special family dinner was tainted by the most appalling service. Despite it being a Tuesday, this comfortable gastro pub was full. However with only two waiting staff, the service was laborious and much delayed. The meze plate was boring and decorated with unnecessarily large pyramids of butter that looked dangerously like pieces of cheese, as one of our party...

4 of us booked for lunch on 20 January at 1. It was 1.30 before our orders were taken and starters arrived at 2 after being assured three times that they were being plated up.These were adequate prawn tempura. The one member of staff who was helpful said they would put through the main course order there and then but...

I ate Sunday lunch with my family. We ate a variety of dishes/all very good especially the roasts! Staff very good and helpful. We were able to eat here (I had not booked) although it is possible to reserve in dining room for eight plus people. I just wish a children menu had been available as dishes a waste on...

We had a family reunion on 27th December so there were 11 of us for the meal. Initially I booked the table using the email address on the website and the booking was confirmed with a Festive Menu attached. When my brother went in to pay the deposit they hadn't any record of the booking, but he made the booking...

My husband and myself went to the Wellington for lunch . We were greeted as we walked in the door and shown to a table, right near a lovely real log fire. The place was very busy but service was really first class with the waitress giving us a menu and then taking the time to explain certain foods on...

Not the first time I have had bad advice here. This evening they excelled. Ordered rib eye steak with bearnaise sauce. Classic dish, think restaurant in Charlotte Street. Steak turns up, no bearnaise. Asked where is the bearnaise. Asked again. No bearnaise. Eventually get manager to get bearnaise. He eventually returns with what he says is bearnaise, but actually is...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Six bedrooms, each one slightly different, complement the Wellington's award-winning food and service. In keeping with the spirit of a building dating from 1352, we have kept and restored as many of the original features as possible, so you will encounter oak beams, cedar pine floors as well as antique furniture throughout the building. Some rooms even have an open fireplace or a four-poster bed... Each room has also been updated to offer you all the luxuries of contemporary living with plate glass, crisp bed linen and feather-down duvet on hand-sprung mattresses, monsoon showers or deep free-standing slipper baths, free WiFi, flat screen TV and a personal iPod dock/iPhone charger in your room. ... more   less
