Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A lovely little pub with rooms. Really friendly and helpful landlord. Room was fresh, modern and clean. I'm not a fan of staying in pub rooms, but this one was quiet (pub closes at 10pm and isn't noisy) and really well appointed with all I need for an overnight stay before a long day of work. Note if you need to be up and away early breakfast starts at 8am, but it's continental so I'm sure if you ask they would be happy to accommodate earlier!

Evening meal was lovely, and the included breakfast is simple but good quality.

I'm a bit of a premier inn fan when on work trips as I know what I'll get, and what the quality will be like, but I'm glad I came here- better than a premier inn- perfect for an overnight stop or a few days of exploring the local area. Great value (I'd have happily paid more) great service, comfy bed and nice breakfast!

Enjoyed my two night stay. Room and shower were of a good size. Plenty of tea and coffee in the room. Dined in the evening on both night. Had a light lunch on one lunchtime. Very good portions and the food was well presented too. Considering on the cost of living the price was very good. The only down side was that no breakfast was offered, even if guessed were offered cereals and croissants to take to their room the night before.

Could so easily be a Lovely pub. Nice refurbed interior but no atmosphere. Miserable bar staff, no cheerful welcome here. Wood burner not lit, no lights on Christmas tree. “No wonder the place is empty. Could be a booming local pub with the right landlord and bar staff. Such a shame.

We went to the Hope and Anchor for Sunday Lunch. We found it to a warm and friendly public house which was dog friendly. The Staff could not have been more welcoming, the lunch was excellent. I would recommend it for a meal anytime.

I have stayed in both double and single rooms I had every thing I needed facility's to brew up plenty of towels hot water a TV and of course clean bedding.
so I would like to thank both the management and staff for the past and future stay at the hope.

Booked a room for august whilst stopping there in july, went to the races for the day and then went to the hotel only to find they had given our room away with no prior notice - the way the landlady handled the situation was fantastic after apologizing for the mix up by her partner and staff, she arranged to have an extra single bed put in the only single room she had available and said she would not charge us at all for the room, she then gave us both a drink on the house. Although we did not get our room until quite a bit later we could not fault her in her customer service in putting right what could have been a really poor outcome. Thank you
