Thank you Donatella for a Beautiful experience and stay. A little bit of a harrowing drive up to the house, especially in a large van, but the views and hospitality were so wonderful! Thank you for the delicious coffeecake as well! Grazie Mille!
We loved staying with Lella in Abbacca-la. Beautiful views, comfortable rooms, and a loving host all made the stay a true Italian experience. Lella cooked our dinner the first night, and after a long day of travel it was a welcome respite. We took her cooking class the next morning. So much fun and the food was beyond excellent. We made pasta and semifredo. Our lunch included those foods, but also other things Lella had made. Homemade jams, cheese, melon and ham, etc. She also had local wines for us at our meals and waiting for us when we returned from day trips. We took a day trip with Lella driving us to a small hilltop town, winery and beach towns. She was a wonderful tour guide, having grown up in Lucca. She communicated well before our trip and all of our expectations were met and then some. She picked us up at the train station and drove us back and forth to Lucca. We did not rent a car and I was happy about that. the drive to her farm is very windy. We wished we had stayed longer with Lella after traveling to Florence and dealing with the crowds. The restaurants in Lucca were great and Lella's recommendations for restaurants outside Lucca were wonderful. Could not recommend any higher.…
Beautiful spot in lovely apartments in traditional and characterful farmhouse. Good base for touring Lucca/Tuscany/Florence area. Very friendly owner,Lella also does cooking lessons. Need a car, cannot walk to any towns but there is good self catering facilities and it’s only 5/10 mins drive down hill. Great value. Fantastic views
I came here with three friends and we loved the well-equipped rustic farmhouse, the beautiful views, and the warm customer service given by our host Lella. She offers options including prepared meals, day trips, cooking classes, and transportation into nearby Lucca. We took advantage of all of the above and it made our stay very enjoyable and stress-free. We enjoyed breakfast in Lela’s kitchen with everything homemade, which also gave us a chance to have conversation with her about the area and Tuscan life in general. Cooking class on our final day was a highlight and we ate outside overlooking the mountains and valleys surrounding the property. Lella was quick to respond to our emails before the trip, her English is excellent, and she is delightful as a host. We all took home bottles of their delicious olive oil that they produce from their trees, which we will savor along with our memories. I would highly recommend this property to my friends and family. …
I can't imagine a better place to stay near Lucca. Lella is the most gracious hostess imaginable. In the four days we spent at Abbacca-la she truly became a friend. Having spent four fast paced days in Florence, my girlfriends and I were looking for a more leisurely area of a Italy. Abbacca-la was everything we could have hoped for and more. Lella's meals were entirely home cooked and amazing. She provided transportation to Lucca for two days of exploring on our own and then spent a day driving us to remote villages and on to the coast. The highlight of our stay was the cooking class. There aren't enough superlatives to describe the entire experience.
