Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I cannot believe how fast our special day went and how smoothly it ran due to Max. This venue is a beautiful and elegant place for any occasion and I honestly can’t say a bad thing about it. The beds are extremely comfy and cutely made up for new couples, the garden is absolutely lovely specially with the bridge for amazing photos and the room we got married in had plenty of room for anything and everything. Thank you so much for everything and we highly recommend to each and every person we know 😊

Let’s be fair and say we have stayed here a fair few times and the rooms have been really good, just like you can see in the website photos, very happy. On this occasion we were given room 42 which was like the spare bedroom in your house, a small double bed (see photos) and some unwelcome early morning noise. After a fairly uncomfortable nights sleep in a small double bed with a poor mattress we were woken at 5am by what I thought was another guest leaving but a couple of minutes later all you could hear was talking and laughing from a downstairs room, the room being located at the kitchen end of the property. This went on for 30 minutes or so then to add insult to injury at around 7am the noise of the shipping containers being opened and closed started, then the delivery van arrived. On leaving, I complained to a very unsympathetic gentleman who for some reason asked had I booked directly, we had booked through Hotels.com and he gave me the impression that if you book directly you get the better rooms even though all the rooms are the same price. His attitude suggested It was my tough luck. I followed up this complaint through Hotels .com without success, after they contacted the hotel twice it was another shrug of their shoulders, obviously the hotel doesn’t care that much about their customers. Be aware that room 42 (and possibly all rooms in the forties) are located at the kitchen end of the hotel and are nothing like the lovely rooms shown on the website. I really hope the hotel respond to this post. As I said at the start, we have always been happy to stay here but this was quite unacceptable.

Wow what can we say, our day was just perfect, from the young lady in the morning helping get the room ready and then Max the Co-ordinator making everything run so smoothly. We were made to feel truly special, the food was fantastic and the DJ was brilliant. Thank you so much for making our wedding so memorable.

Attended the Lazaat for a birthday/wedding party. After a long drive that got us there a bit earlier than expected and before 2pm check in, I was happy to find that our room was ready. The housekeeper was handy and showed us to our room where she made sure the heater was turned on. The room was lovely and toasty by the time we had emptied the car of our belongings. Room 8 was spacious, with a huge bed and everything was immaculately clean. Lashings of very hot water and thick fluffy towels. Filling the kettle was a bit of a challenge in the bathroom sink but we managed. We were last out of the party so not sure if there will have been any noise from disco for people not attending functions but we heard nothing more through the night. Breakfast was more than adequate the next morning. Cereals, yogurts and full cooked breakfast. Loads of toast machines. The hot water for tea was filled up immediately on asking when empty. Lovely staff throughout the stay. Gorgeous room for the party. Good time had by all.

Lovely rooms, well decorated. BAD THING...could not get lunch or evening meal due to a wedding?? What hotel does not open the restaurant due to other events..we pay good money for the room & had to venture out to the local village to get lunch& feed ourselves. Breakfast is good, but again they can cater for all at breakfast but can't open the restaurant for lunch or evening meal. They do offer room service, but very limited food.

We recently held our Wedding ceremony at Lazaat, we decided to get married at very short notice, and even from only having 8 weeks from the time of booking, everything was perfect. Beth & Simon were great to answer any questions we had coming up to the date, and on the day, our coordinator Paul was amazing, very helpful and friendly. Food throughout the day was delicious, our room was lovely and breakfast the next day was delicious also. We would definitely recommend to those looking for a wedding package at a very reasonable price. Thank you for everything we had the best day

We booked the Lazaat hotel and restaurant in Cottingham for my husband's 80th birthday celebration. The setting in the Monsoon suite was perfect and the service superb. We opted for the hot buffet and everyone was delighted with the choices on offer and the quality of the food, which was delicious. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who looked after us very well indeed. We could not have been more pleased. It was a perfect day.

Max our wedding coordinator was there from morning till late and always kept us informed throughout the day. Would definitely recommend booking your wedding here or even stay over night, the beds are absolutely huge! Food was delicious, we will be back every anniversary :)

We had our wedding here and I’m glad we did for the value the service was superb and the staff I had some hiccups in the morning of my wedding where the stress had hit (no fault of the venue) but the lady who saw me upset her customer service was fabulous as I was crying and she even brought us Prosecco. The process of booking to the final day and even check out was amazing and the suites were lovely food and breakfast. The only fault I’d say is they need more plugs but that’s trivial and minor for such a great event. Thank you again for all your service! You also took great care for our elderly guests too!
