Stayed two nights to catch up with family. This was our second stay at the Lazaat Hotel.
Staff were friendly but the hotel seemed a little run down compared to how it felt four years ago. Maybe it is as a result of the covid lockdown.
Our room (number 3) was very large with a huge shower.
Two large bath towels and one hand towel were provided for the two of us. The towels were from Asda George which I thought odd for a large hotel.
Shower gel and shampoo was provided in the shower but only a small block of soap at the basin.
The heated towel rail didn't work.
The bedroom light made a loud buzzing sound when it was switched on.
The bed was enormous but not very comfortable, no bed topper so you could feel the springs in the mattress.
The room was away from the road so no noise from traffic but the soundproofing isn't great so we could hear people talking in adjacent rooms.
Breakfast was ok, Aldi orange juice was poured into jugs so you could help yourself.
No fresh tea or coffee, just flasks of coffee and water so it wasn't really hot enough to make a good cup of tea.
There is a large plant growing up the spiral stairwell in the main reception. This needs pruning and dusting. If you are tall you needed to duck under the branches otherwise it's in your face. Bit of a hazard when you're going up and down the stairs.
Lots of free parking which was good.

Difficult to find withoout a sat nav. Bit too far out of Cottingham to walk into the village and no close by facilities. There is noise from the nearby road but it is not very intrusive at all.

Room, in the main part of the hotel, was comfortable, large and warm with a large bathroom.

Individually prepared breakfast was, naturally, far superior to the buffet style breakfast. Plates were bigger and warmer, food was much fresher and tastier, but tthe price was the same, £8.

Staff were very pleasant and hepful.

I imagine thigs could be quite differnt when functions are on. Thankfully we avoided them.

I booked this hotel to replace a dinner dance that had been cancelled due to Covid. The price was £40.50 for 2 in an executive double.

The check in was functional, not really welcoming or informative (no information of meal times or availability of services). The room was as far from reception as it was possible to be but the upside of that was shielding from the traffic noise from the busy A164. There was no airconditioning (stated on various booking websites but not their own), a fan was in the room. There was no wardrobe, just 4 hangers on 2 hooks on the wall. Only 1 set of towels that were reluctantly increased after a call to reception. For my taste the bed was too firm and the curtains didn't do a very good job of keeping the room dark. I have no idea if the bar or restaurant was open in the evening. I didn't ask and nobody volunteered the information. Breakfast was nicely socially distanced, a bit limited in scope and the coffee from a machine behind the bar was not great. Check out was the same functional experience with no conversation beyond room number and remove your card.
All in all an average functional stay and at £56.50 for double B&B not outrageous.

Don’t know where to start . Wedding in August :- on arrival guests was able to get drinks (hardly no chose in drinks) in what I would say was a small tatty cluttered store room . not able to use 2 of the sofas due to old tatty coffee tables . During the ceremony you could hear the banging of glasses being washed absolutely disgusting making such a noise . Food which was severed was extremely over cook chicken was inedible. Gravy was like water , the white sauce ? Had no taste to it what do ever . Other guests on our table was having a debate on what the sauce was ? Profiteroles was dry . The best of the meal was the starter . The table service was appalling only 1 man seemed to know what he was doing . Had a room booked decided check in after 2 as advised . Room for 2 only 1 cup , 1 bath towel , 1 hand towel . shower tray was NOT up to scratch, had a hair grip left in it . That says the me that it had not been cleaned properly.
Evening reception:- Hardly no drink choice . Poor poor wine choice . The people that was serving was more interested in using there phones .
Breakfast :- fruit juices was in cracked stained jugs . Cooked breakfast was VERY over cooked , couldn’t even put your knife through the sausages . ALL cooked was inedible. I wouldn’t advise anyone to eat or even have the wedding in this venue nor advise bed and breakfast

I am basing my review on a recent wedding I attended and can only comment on my stay here.

Like most weddings, you tend to stay in the venue the wedding is taking place. Considering this venue deals with wedding guests a lot you would assume it is equipped for it. I stayed the night before and the night of the wedding. The room I stayed in had no iron/ ironing board to prepare for the wedding. Meaning most, would have creased up shirts/ dresses and un-groomed hair, unless you bought them ready pressed and your own hair dryer.

We tried to make the bride/grooms bedroom a bit more romantic and special, but found the bedroom with an unclean/unmade bed and no clean towels. When we asked the reception about this (two very helpful ladies) stated they only clean the rooms every 3 days (for reference, the groom stayed in the room the night before). Although I appreciate to save on energy, water and wages, they don't need to clean the rooms everyday. It makes sense for the night of the wedding to show some professional courtesy and check the bride/grooms room is up to standard.

Please note. After asking reception they got the cleaning department to resolve the matter. All was ok eventually.

Overall the venues was nice and the wedding event was a success. However, I felt the need to review to hopefully highlight the issue and help the venue to be better.

No hotel operates well during a Pandamic - so please don't expect all the bells and whistles whilst local suppliers go bust and staff are trying their very best to work around daily problems! This is my 2nd stay at the hotel this year and I returned at the the start of August ( for 4 nights) because there's a real willingness, by all involved in the hotel, to make guests as welcome, safe and as comfortable as possible during these difficult times for travellers. There are plenty of alternative hotels available to me but I hope to return again in late autumn! The room was very spacious and well appointed - air conditioning would have been a bonus but the fan supplied was a real help at the start of the heatwave. Bathroom was very clean and Housekeeping kept everything topped up during the stay. The kitchen had just begun to serve food in the evening - which I took to my room. Overall I think this is a good hotel!

I stayed there a year ago as a convenient place on a long journey and it was fine. Now (October 2020) it is seems to be a hostel for NHS staff. That’s okay but it shouldn’t be open as a hotel at the same time.
Room and shower need deep clean. Entrance stairwell desperately needs a serious vacuum. Everywhere in the hotel needs deep clean and renovation.
The breakfast buffet was about a quarter of the choices a year ago and although the waiter was pleasant enough it was a hard job to catch him for anything you needed. There was nobody else around. He kept disappearing. The bowls were all badly washed/dirty and I had to ask for cutlery. The tea was not hot.
The bed linen, pillows and duvet are all old and need replacing. The corridor outside my room had a big mat which was pushed roughly up against the wall. My room overlooked a yard full of shipping containers and rubbish bins and flies kept coming in through the window. Need I go on?

I would not recommend this establishment to anyone who is planning a visit due to the poor room service, lack of communication and the lack of professionalism.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights for a wedding and I cannot fault the wedding itself.

Upon arrival we were charged full price only to be told we had to stay in our rooms and order room service.

The food was cold and when we complained, this was ignored. We were also given insufficient towels for two people and the staff acted like we were been unreasonable when we asked for more.

We were told at short notice that we could not use the restaurant or bar and when we asked to speak with a manager regarding the price, the response was "we have 3 weddings on today and no manager is in".

Upon checking out we spoke to a manager to express our disappointment and they did not care one bit and were extremely rude; they should not be in a management role. We are still waiting to hear back regarding our complaint from higher management as we were promised someone would get in touch.

Due to the covid pandemic i was struggling for a place to hold our wedding reception . A friend recommended Lazaat to me . I contacted the reception who put me in touch with Victoria the wedding corodinator . We arranged a visit to view the room . We viewed the room and fell in love with it at first site , the inside was immaculate and the outside private area was what just what we wanted , Half covered if it rained and the other half open if it was sunny . The Room and tables were decorated to our requirements , the food was first class with all our guests complimenting on how good it was .we were giving a complimentry hotel room which was very clean with kettle , coffee ,tea etc .The breakfast was amazing with many different choices . Victoria and the rest of the staff made how special day go so smoothly for us with no problems at all . I can not thank Victoria and the staff enough .I would highly recommend Lazaat Hotel to everybody and my friend has already booked his wedding there for 2022
