extremely friendly and accommodating staff, nothing too much trouble. room fairly small but very comfortable. shower a great size and good water pressure (given we were on the top floor in an ancient building) fan in room which was brilliant, little extras water, biscuits all a nice touch.
had dinner at the night in the restaurant. food was hot and tasty, 2 had belly pork wich was lovely, one had pie which was lovely, the other had fish and chips which were average.
the breakfast was magnificent, best breakfast we have had in a long time (we travel extensively and we know a good breakfast). cereal, fruit, toast, yogurt and juices all lovely but the star of the show was the cooked full english, absolutely brilliant.
thankyou woolly sheep, you are doing a grand job, keep it up, we will see you again next time we travel to that area (which is lovely too)
Service was prompt, courteous and everything well done.
We will return to try the accommodation when next up in the area!
The consensus around the table was the same, ‘noodles taste like they’ve been cooked in bath water’ ‘overcooked food’ ‘food was luke warm’. You could tell the food had just been sat in the kitchen.
Wouldn’t recommend.
When it came back the plate was red hot but the food was just lukewarm again , We should have sent it back again but we decided just to eat it as we were hungry and didn’t want the hassle again.
After eating the waitress asked if everything was ok, I said we were disappointed as the food was still lukewarm. She was very abrupt and said there’s nothing I can do about it was probed again and was piping hot and then walked off. I suggest this establishment invest in a new probe!!
Plenty of places in Skipton to eat so will choose somewhere else next time and will probably be cheaper than £6-95 for a glass of red wine.
We were in the 3 roomed annex, rather than the main building which has 9 rooms. The annex contains the superior rooms.
Room was bright with good ventilation, clean and equipped sufficiently for a short stay. Bed was actually two beds joined together, so was huge, and was very comfortable.
Towels and toiletries were supplied along with the typical kettle and tea/coffee facilities.
As the annex rooms are to the rear of the beer garden, they are reasonably quiet at all hours, with only the occasional rowdy drinkers being a minor disturbance, but it is a central pub and should probably be expected. Other rooms in the main building may have been noiseier, so it may be worth enquiring on the location of your room before booking.
We had planned to eat and drink at the pub on both nights of our stay, but due to issues with my food order on our first evening I returned my meal for a refund and we opted to go elsewhere instead.
Breakfast involved a reasonable selection of buffet items and a selection of cooked breakfast options.
Full cooked breakfast was OK, but the omelette and eggs florentine options were much better on our second morning.
Easter Sunday started with a rude awakening, as the fire alarm went off at 6am. Only saw one member of staff on site investigating the situation and nobody to give guidance to those that did bother to leave their rooms.
I made myself known to the staff member, as a fire marshal, and was told that someone had been smoking in a room, but breakfast staff suggested it was a fault in the system.
Check out is normally by 10:30am, or you can pay £10, as we did, to give yourself a more relaxed morning and an extra couple of hours to be on your way. As we had been awakened so early though, it was pointless hanging around.
Indeed we stayed fairly recently at a so called 4 start hotel that charged us much more for a smaller room badly in need of redecoration - and kept commenting on how much better value the Woolly Sheep was/is.
The bed was very comfy, all you need for a short stay is provided including fresh milk in a thermos flask for teas/coffees. When we booked there was only a double with a sofa bed left but this gave us more room to maneuver and we felt was still good value at £125 pn. It was at the back of the main building overlooking the beer garden but punters were moved on well before midnight and you really can't complain about the noise of people enjoying a drink if you stay in a pub!
The free car park for residents was a real bonus in central Skipton. And we took advantage of the extended checkout for £5, allowing for some last minute shopping and a quick snack (no need for lunch after hearty breakfast) finally leaving our room around 12.30pm.
The only compliant was there was no hot water for a shower in the morning, but I see someone else staying around the same time as us noted this so must just have been a temporary issue. Wont put us off coming back again!!
