We arrived around 4pm and all of the radiators in the room were off. Understandably in the current climate, they wouldn’t have the heating on unnecessarily, but it was absolutely freezing. Luckily there were 2 heaters in the room so with these and the radiators turned on,it took a couple of hours before the room felt comfortable. During breakfast my partner asked what egg was with the full English. The woman serving said we could pick what we would like….however she was then heard talking loudly in the kitchen about ‘people of today & why they can’t just be happy with what they are given…in her day they would just eat what they liked and left what they didn’t…other comments about when they are asked to leave something from a breakfast and add something else’ ~ this left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. Whether the comments were aimed at us or other customers, it was completely unprofessional & a disappointing view from someone working in hospitality. Reviews from others about friendly staff, however we received a cold reception from start to finish… very disappointing.

Very expensive for what was provided. Mattress had seen better days and was uncomfortable. Sheets were lovely though. No hotel information in the welcome pack. Had to request WiFi code and was told that it was in the welcome pack! Breakfast was basic and seemed like it had been cooked and kept warm for hours. More edible on our second morning. This appears to be the only bed and breakfast accommodation in this village so it feels like they can charge what they like!

Great pub with accommodation, very comfortable bed in a decent sized room, nice evening meal and drinks at sensible prices and good quality breakfast in the morning.
The only thing that stopped me giving this 5* was at night there is a green light in the room above the door, obviously for fire safety reasons, however although it looks tiny it totally illuminated the room in the middle of the night.
I've never been in a room that has had this so don't think it's "regulations" and would advise they remove them from inside the room.

Arrived at a busy time during a pub quiz. First warning of a bad experience to come was they wanted payment up front. We've stayed at this pub twice before and enjoyed our stay but this was horrendous. First room we were taken to was actually already occupied. Second room was apparently the right room. Our booking stated a deluxe room. £230 for 2 nights b&b. The room was tiny and noisy. Not sure we're the noise came from but could have been the kitchen extractor fan working but it didn't stop till after 11 pm. No hot water. We were later told you have to run the shower at the same time. The radiator in the bedroom only warmed a third of the way up. The coffee pod machine was full of used pods. No fresh pods to be found anywhere in the room. We went on the search for milk which we found in a cupboard outside of the room. There was a table lamp that didn't work but had dangerous wiring. We were told breakfast was 9.30. The info book said 8.30 to 9.30 so I thought I must have misheard. We were meeting family in Settle the next morning and went for breakfast at 8.30. Everywhere was all locked up. We had to leave at 9.00.
That's when everywhere was open, lights on and the lady there said she had been told we wanted breakfast at 9.30. We left for the day. The room hadn't been serviced when we got back later that night. Sunday morning we had breakfast just after 8.30. I wish we hadn't bothered. It was barely warm the only hot food was the beans. Someone needs to learn to warm the plates before putting hot food on them.
Always enjoyed our stays there before. We will never stay again!! This is all due to very bad management.

I travelled up to Yorkshire for a break to beat the January blues, first met with the aesthetically pleasing building which has clearly been renovated and maintained. There is plenty of space to park in the car park, checking in was quick and easy which allowed me to quickly get settled in my room (which was clean and again looks to be recently modernised with traditional features) then onto enjoy the evening in the pub. The landlord, lady and staff were a good laugh and very welcoming as were the locals.

I stayed for two nights, on both nights I had a peaceful and comfortable sleep. The Nespresso machine is a nice touch for a quick coffee before going downstairs for breakfast, which again was faultless and filling.

I am so relieved to find somewhere aesthetically pleasing, warm and welcoming.
When in Yorkshire again I will definitely be returning.

The dead withered shrubs in pots on either side of the entrance held a clue to the service inside. We arrived shortly before our guests and on entering, despite being the only ones at the bar, were ignored by the two staff who were attempting to sort out a transaction on the till. Eventually they acknowledged we were there and we ordered a drink and waited outside for our guests to arrive. When they did we were shown to our table and rather than being asked what we wanted to drink at to his point waited 5 minutes for someone to come and take the drinks order. Our comment that we were ready to order out meals was ignored and 15 minutes later the drinks turned up. After approximately half an hour our food came. I don't know which ploughman the lunch was based on but he obviously wasn't a fan of cheese, as that was the smallest ingredient on the plate. The potato topped bean dish was topped with an anemic mash that reminded me of 1970s processed packets of Smash. All round poor overpriced food served to a low standard.
When no one came to our table we went to the bar to pay, where after a further delay a request to split the bill was meet with eye rolling.

What a shame to see what used to be a good pub spoiled by borderline rudeness and bad service. My advice is if you're understaffed forewarn diners so they know what to expect. And if you feel under pressure don't take it out on your customers.

Excellent accommodation recently refurbished. Evening meal enjoyable; sufficient quantity with plenty of vegetables and served evenly hot. Not an over ambitious menu which is sensible for a village pub, but unless the visitor is fussy Maypole offers a good range of dishes. Prices fair. Plenty of carparking. Staff were polite and efficient.
If revisiting the area I would definitely aim to book at The Maypole.
Bar seems frequented by local customers and the beer price has not been raised beyond a reasonable pre-restriction price...yet.

After a long drive, we were greeted by "you'll have to pay now and what will you want for breakfast?" Taken aback as it was 3pm. So we just said a full English. Our room, which was Pendle 3, was quite nicely decorated but absolutely stunk of cigarettes. As expected in such an old building the floors weren't level but lying in bed was an experience in itself. There was no hot water to the sink but was OK in the shower. The room was not serviced even though we were booked for 2 nights. We were told we would have to eat in the bar first night because a large party was in the restaurant but despite there being a pub quiz. Breakfast was OK but not everything was on your plate. Second nights meal in the restaurant we chose Cumberland sausage whirl. Neither could be eaten as under cooked. Staff not very tentative so we had veg and mash. To be fair when they cleared the table and we told them it was very undercooked, they knocked the price off the bill. Still no hot water in room. On leaving a young lady asked if we'd enjoyed it and we said no and why. She said yes several people have complained about no hot water - yet nothing has been done about it. Would not recommend and will definitely not be returning.

We popped in for lunch at the Maypole inn on our way through Yorkshire.
Pub was quiet but the welcome was very warm and friendly and a small log burner at one end of the bar gave a lovely warmth.

We opted for the ploughman’s - two different options - one with chicken liver pâte and one with a selection of Yorkshire cheeses. Salad was very fresh and the bread was very good. A side order of chips are very good - proper
hand cooked chips !!

As before, service was very good. Very warm and friendly and happy to help with anything , albeit the pub wasn’t that busy.

Overall a good lunch and worth popping into if you are nearby.

Sadly booked this place for a 2 night stay, what a mistake. On arrival we were greeted with a miserable host who insisted I tell her what I wanted for my breakfast in the morning and at what time! The room was average decor but absolutely no hot water coming out of sink tap which apparently “lots of people have mentioned this” The food the first night was average but second night was totally uncooked. I did get a refund but it spoiled the evening. There is zero friendliness at this place and we couldn’t wait to leave. Needless to say I would never return and certainly wouldn’t recommend to anyone. I just wished I had read previous reviews as I am not the only one to have had this awful experience. Never again.
