Our first time at The Cawdor and will definitely be back. Lovely welcoming entrance and very friendly staff. We were on 2nd floor which being older generation was a bit difficult at first but we got use to it but would ask for lower floor in future. Room was tastefully decorated and cosy, comfortable bed with fresh linen. Breakfast was superb and evening meal excellent. Staff very friendly acknowledging every time we passed someone. Will definately be booking again in the foreseeable future.

I loved Llandeilo but The Cawdor not so much. I don’t write negative reviews as I deal with problems directly at the time but this didn’t work so well at the Cawdor. The person Georgina I dealt with could only tell me that no one else complained like this ie it was my problem. Not really good customer service. Very inexperienced. This hotel thinks it’s rather better than it is. We stayed in what they call an excellent room. The room was cold on arrival and very unwelcoming. The heating was broken we had to call reception for someone to fix it, which it was but the room was still very cold despite an electric radiator as well. The bed linen had had its day it’s thin and not white.  The lighting is crazy like a flood lit football ground, 30 spotlights all facing the bed. Why?   Nowhere to put wash things in the shower.  Poor workmanship in the bathroom. No water in our room on arrival  No heating on in our room on arrival.  Ginger nut biscuits were cheap. Welsh cakes at this price point for an excellent room would be expected at least.  Where were the dressing gowns from the photographs on your website as I expected those in the excellent room.  No coat hooks to hang wet coats or any coats for that matter.  The position of the bed facing the doors leaves the impression of being in a waiting room, not cosy at all. The layout was not using the space to its advantage imho.  On arrival the receptionist seemed to be amused with our struggle with our cases on the stairs from the car park and made no offer to provide assistance to our room. Giving a very poor first impression.  The lounge and dining room are overly lit, no ambient or mood lighting in sight.  The lounge cushions are grubby and look so untidy and tables were dirty very slow to be cleared or cleaned.  The toilets in the bar area had an unfresh odour on all occasions visited.  Cold breakfast buffet offerings were cheap and poor selection to say the least. A few old grapes and a banana, as fruit, was actually embarrassing.  Good points are your chef. The food in the evening was very good, the desserts were beautiful. My partner had the cooked breakfast which she said was also very good.  Staff in the restaurant were attentive and they were much appreciated.  From Llandeilo I then went to stay at St Brides in Saundersfoot. The contrast was so stark as I can always give St Brides 5🌟 so hopefully The Cawdor might stop resting on their laurels and look again at the poor standards and up their game so increasing return guests.

The ‘Bancs’ room was impeccably designed, offering ample space and a private en-suite that provided a sense of seclusion from other guests. The staff members were consistently accommodating, and our dinner was exquisite. However, a couple of minor aspects prevented us from rating our experience higher. The in-room coffee could benefit from an upgrade to a higher quality selection. Additionally, the orange juice served at breakfast was rather underwhelming, reminiscent of the overly potent, inexpensive squash often found in school cafeterias.”

My partner and I stayed and ate at The Cawdor in November, opting for the B&B and evening meal deal. To our delight we were offered a room upgrade and we stayed in the lovely Allt y Ferin, which had a four poster bed, a separate bath and excellent spacious shower. Bed linen was lovely and crisp and there was a Melin Tregwynt woollen throw and pillow which gave a lovely traditional look. We ate in the main restaurant at 730pm and were shown to our table by a polite young waiter. We were surprised to see that virtually every table was full and there was a pleasant buzz about the place with folk eating, socialising etc. Our drink order was attended to promptly. We were offered 3 menus. There is a bar food menu which comprises mainly burgers, the main restaurant menu where the main culinary action is, and a limited menu for those residents taking the B&B + Evening Meal Deal. We opted for meals from the main menu and were told that we would get £15 credit per person towards whatever we chose. We went for the Lamb & Duck dishes and both were cooked to perfection and really tasty. For desert we had the Pavlova and the Cheese board comprising 5 sizeable chunks of Welsh cheeses, biscuits and a tomato salsa. My favourite Perl Las was included! Very impressed by the standard of the food being served. The following morning Full Welsh/Cymraeg breakfast was a very ample challenge, served with full coffee pots and tea. The bacon and sausage were very good. This set us up well for a spot of Xmas Shopping in the town. Will undoubtedly stay again as we enjoyed the whole experience.

I recently visited the Cawdor for a casual evening out with friends, seeking a relaxed atmosphere and a few drinks. Unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. It feels strange to have to write about this hotel in a negative way as the numerous drinks, lunches, dinners, weddings and parties my friends, family and I have attended there over the years have been really great! Upon entering the hotel's lounge area, my party and I couldn't help but notice an unpleasant odour, which, to my dismay, turned out to be the distinct smell of urine emanating from the loos This immediately set a negative tone for our evening and raised questions about the overall cleanliness of the establishment. This has never been an issue before! Even after our trying to find an area well away from the source of this smell, it was very much present. I spoke in a reasonable (even apologetic!) way with a professional and polite receptionist about this matter and was very impressed with how she handled my comments. As my friends and I settled into our seats, we were met with a surprising level of rudeness from the waiter on duty. At a relatively early hour of 8:40 pm, the waiter approached our table and in an excessively haughty tone he requested that we lower our voices, insinuating that we were being too loud. This seemed rather unreasonable given the time and the fact that we were engaging in normal -albeit lively-conversation and laughter. I am afraid that this supercilious and unreasonable request coupled with the pervasive stench I have already mentioned did result in my speaking my mind in no uncertain terms. I was rude because I'd had had enough! To make matters worse, before members of my party departed, they were shocked to hear the aforementioned member of staff publicly shaming and berating them about not paying meal bills. It was evident that there was a mistake, and when they brought it to the attention of the waiter, his initial response was dismissive and unapologetic. It was only upon further investigation that he conceded that it had been a computer error. I hope that this review serves as constructive feedback for the Cawdor to address these issues. A commitment to cleanliness, courteous service, and accurate billing are essential elements for any establishment, especially one aspiring to provide a pleasant environment for its patrons. Whilst our most recent negative experience does not cancel out all of our positive experiences at the Cawdor by any means, I do hope that we do not encounter these issues again.

What a wonderful night away we had at The Cawdor. We got a complimentary room upgrade which was such a lovely and welcome treat. Dinner was delicious, highly recommend the Sirloin, the Risotto and the cheesecake. The full Welsh breakfast the next morning was the perfect antidote to the Prosecco from the night before. The Cawdor offers a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere, perfect for any occasion.

We had an excellent experience at the hotel. I have friends who are Celiac and the hotel catered for them perfectly. The apartment was very comfortable and spacious. Our evening meal was also excellent. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable. Overall 5 out of 5

Last minute bookings as we managed to get away for our wedding anniversary. The welcome was very friendly and we were upgraded to the loft suite. The hotel was very comfortable and has a couple of dining options. There was a conference on during our stay but it did not affect the service or attention to other guests. We dined in the restaurant both evenings, the food was really tasty and presented well. Our room was huge! Very comfortable, lovely shower and plenty of room for relaxing. Without doubt the biggest asset is the team of staff. Friendly, helpful, professional and nothing seemed to much trouble. Well done keep up the good work. 👍
