Great little hotel. They've done a great upgrade to an old building. Room was very clean and comfortable, good bathroom and having my own fridge was very handy. But the highlight to me was the staff and the service. I had a hospital procedure the next day and couldn't have the breakfast (which was included) so they packed me a lunch which had a freshly made sandwich, crisps, a variety of fresh fruit, a mixed fruit pot, bottled water and a packet of crisps!! I'd asked for a quiet room and they placed me on the top floor (so no creaking floorboards above me) and at the back of the hotel - so no noise from the street. The receptionist even took the time to help me carry my bags up to my room.

Needed a hotel close to the main hospital and the Spilman is well situated on a bus route or also a 1.2 mile walk. The room was comfortable and spacious and was also very quiet. All staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was certainly hearty so became my main meal for the three nights I stayed. Free wifi with reasonably good reception. I arrived by train the station being a mere half a mile away but the hotel has a small car park. This centrally placed hotel proved to be good value for money and I would recommend it to other travellers

Well placed for access to Carmarthen centre shopping and through routes. Access to the car park is tight and restricted to later than 4pm, due to the pedestrianised street, but there is an alternative car park across the street, if you request this at the reception. The room was very spacious and included a comfortable sofa for watching TV. The attached bathroom had an over-bath shower and heated towel rail and was also very spacious. The bed was very comfortable and the room was exceptionally quiet, even though it was adjacent to the pedestrianised shopping street. Covid precautions were in place, which was very reassuring. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast room was very pleasant. My wife and I had poached eggs, which were done to perfection and the atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. We had a great stay and would certainly recommend the accommodation to anyone passing this way.

We didn’t fancy the long journey to Tenby on a Friday and booked one night at the Spilman and couldn’t have chosen better in our view.
The bonus here is there is parking - albeit better if you own a small car rather than a large one as parking is tight but a video is available with suggestions on how to navigate the entry to the free on site parking.
Initially we missed the entry but next time we stay we will be prepared.
Location was perfect and having booked the Ginger Indian it is just across from the rear of the hotel. Another bonus was there is a renovated Wetherspoons on the same stretch and we enjoyed a couple of drinks in there after our Indian. Felt like we had stepped back in time with the Wetherspoons featured drinks on special offer £1.99 for a pint of the excellent Stowford press cider which is £5 a pint in Tenby !
We paid for an executive room which was ground floor so easy to take all our luggage for our 10 nights holiday in to the room. We have already booked room 18 for our next break to Tenby / Saundersfoot this summer.
Ivo the Manager is a great easy going guy and the hotel staff are friendly and an asset to.
Our room 12 was good but room 18 is more like a bungalow with nobody above.
The room was comfortable with nice bed linen on the comfy bed, and you have a mini drinks cooler. Good wifi connection and the room would be super warm if it is cold as the radiator is huge and can be controlled by the radiator thermostat. It was a lovely day when we arrived and the evening was really pleasant. We didn’t need the heating. There is a bath is this room but some of the other executive rooms have a shower.
You can speak to Ivo if you have a preference. We liked being in the room off the courtyard but there are choices inside the main building to.
The hotel is accessed by the front or rear entrance. There is a small bar and lounge area. The breakfast room looks freshly decorated and bright and orders are now taken at your table. There are cereals, fruit juice and fresh fruit set out to help yourself.
We had the full English and the waitress brought toast. You can fill a tea pot or there are coffee pots to help yourself. It was a very good hearty breakfast and relaxing and the tables set out safely.
We really felt comfortable here and enjoyed our stay.
We hope to see more of Carmarthen on our next stay which we are already looking forward to.
Thank you Ivo and your team.

I travel to Carmarthen a few times a year to visit my son. Sometimes in a family group other times alone. I always stay at the Spilman. It has a central location in the town, 5 minutes to the train station, shops and restaurants on the doorstep however the hotel is quiet and peaceful. I’ve stayed in different rooms, all with a high standard of cleanliness and comfort, all with en-suite facilities. The staff are friendly and helpful. There’s a wide selection of items for breakfast. The traditional cooked breakfast is excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone

Fantastic hotel, stayed in rooms 26 and 27 loads of steps to these rooms so beware if you are not too mobile. Rear of hotel backs onto shops and Wetherspoons Restaurant so ideal for a quick bite to eat. A short walk from there to the town centre which we loved, plenty of shops but not that many quiet bars. We found one called the Mansell Arms that was quiet and cosy but small, there was no room at the inn on the Saturday night so we ended up back at the hotel. Staff are lovely, rooms very clean (only one downside... I hate scatter cushions on the bed because the covers are not changed after every visit and the one on our bed smelled of someone's sweaty head so it ended up on top of the wardrobe) scatter cushions are not needed in my opinion! Apart from that we had a lovely weekend and would definitely recommend this hotel

The hotel is a short walk from the station - be aware the hill up to the hotel is quite short but steep. Once you are there it is a fantastic location to explore Carmarthen on foot. If you are driving there is a secure car park with EV charging points.

The staff are really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We had to catch an early train on our last day and they suggested we came down early for breakfast (before the official start of the breakfast service) so we could catch our train without rushing.

The rooms are very well appointed - we were really impressed with the high end quality of the oak furniture. Extra pillows were available and free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. The bed was very comfy and we were delighted to find it was a Superking size which was luxurious! There was an iron/ironing board and hair dryer and also a small ‘fridge in the room which meant we had cold bottled water and milk for tea and coffee.

Secondary double glazing meant we could hardly hear the road outside the hotel and slept very soundly.

All in all we would highly recommend The Spilman hotel.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here this week and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Carmarthen. On site parking is available at their private car park at the rear. The decor throughout the hotel is of a high quality and cleanliness is impecable. Our "standard room" and the en-suite bathroom were both very big. There was also a fridge in the room along with lots of complimentary tea, coffee and milk. An iron and ironing board were also available. There's a good size well stocked bar and residents lounge available for guests. The tables in the breakfast room were socially distanced and the servers/staff wore masks. This created a safe feeling for all. The breakfast included cereals, yogurts, fruit juices, full cooked breakfast, toast, preserves, tea and coffee and all ingedients were of good quality.
Overall, I would not hesitate in recommending this great little hotel to anyone.

With my job i spend many hours in hotels over the year but with Covid this was my first overnight stay since last September.
Yes i was a little concerned but should not have been.
I was greeted with a warm welcome and a bottle of hand sanitiser.
Check in was excellent, with a full explanation of everything.

Everywhere had recently been decorated including the bedroom which had also had a bathroom update so everywhere was spotlessly clean & the bed was very comfortable.

Checkout was also excellent and as i had ordered breakfast a paper carrier bag was handed to me which contained a bacon cob and a sachet of red & brown sauce, a bottle of water, fruit a fruit pot a packet of crisps & a small chocolate bar.

Would i stop again ? YES 100%

We wanted to go to Tenby for a last minute getaway but everywhere was fully booked so I booked the Spilman in Carmarthen instead. I am so glad I did! It’s a lovely hotel in a good location with free parking. Access to the hotel car park is only available after 4pm as the approach road Is pedestrianised until then but alternative free parking is available around the corner where half a dozen bays are available to hotel guests.
Our room was tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable with all the amenities you would expect plus a small fridge containing milk and water.
The delicious breakfast was served by lovely, attentive staff and all the necessary steps were taken to make the breakfast room Covid safe. The table and chairs were thoroughly cleaned by Ivo once vacated.
We met the owners, Ruth and Austin in the lounge bar both nights and enjoyed our chats putting the world to rights.
All in all there is nothing we could fault about the Spilman. The cleanliness of the hotel, the friendly staff and owners plus the delicious breakfast is the reason we highly recommend the Spilman and wouldn’t hesitate to return when next in Carmarthen.

Generally speaking it was very quiet. I did, however, mention noise in my review as we had a room (possibly ~24 ?) that faced out onto King Street where there is a Wetherspoon's pub opposite. To be fair, there was just the odd conversation in their outdoor smoking zone that travelled up in the night, but the only real issue was one night when they had beer barrels delivered off a truck (at around midnight to 1AM), then more noise (around 6-7AM) when the barrels were rolled into the pub. The solution would be to close the windows, but this was in the middle of the recent heatwave, so the room would have become unbearably hot. Short answer, as per someone else has given is ask for a room facing inward onto the courtyard/inner car park.

Good evening Yes we do have a small room that can take up to 20 delegates. The room is available Monday - Friday from 9.45am onwards and Saturday and Sunday from 10.30am onwards. The room hire is £45 for the day, we also serve tea, coffee and biscuits at £2 per serving. If you can spare a minute take a look on our facebook page which shows pictures of the meeting room. Parking is available on site on morning meetings only (the entrance to the car park is narrow). Evening meetings would need to use the car park opposite us. FREE WIFI is also available. Let me know if you have any further queries and if you would like to proceed with a booking. Kind regards Ivo Lima
