Recently stayed here for a few days to visit family/friends. This place a steeped in history and apparently has its own ghost who wanders around the hotel, but sadly I never felt her presence! It's a quirky place and our room though a tad dated was still spotless and clean. Everything worked, and had a very comfortable bed. Breakfast is included in the price and you can have cereal, toast etc or a traditional Ulster fry. We did on 2 occasions have a evening meal which along with a decent sized portion was excellent. Washed down with a proper pint of Guinness! Staff were always friendly and couldn't do enough for you. It's been many years since we've been in Carrick but would definitely stay here again.

We held our wedding reception at Dobbins and everything aspect was flawless! From booking right through to the big day nothing was too much trouble abd knew exactly what we were looking for. The room was beautiful, food amazing and service outstanding.

Charlie our server was wonderful with information for the area The inn is steeped in history and this combined with great food made this lunch stop extra special Just across the road from Carrickfergus Castle We both had 2 courses- roast beef and 1 had chilli garlic prawns and the other had ice cream and sorbet Thank you Charlie 😊👍

Booked a table for lunch this afternoon. After waiting over a half hour on starters were told by waiter that there’s a table of 20 people in another part of hotel and couldn’t tell us when we would get our food. Then the manager says the waiter hadn’t put our order in, still couldn’t tell us when we would get food so we left restaurant. Really disappointed but hey, another restaurant got our business instead.

Dear Cathymilhench, I completely agreed that your experience was unacceptable and truly understand your frustration. Unfortunately a new member of the team was on shift and it was shift change. There was an understanding that your order had been taken by that member and processed into the kitchen. Hence the advice that your food was just delayed due to the large booking in our restaurant. It was not until the new shift went to check on your order it was realised that the order that had been taken from you had not been put through to the kitchen. Unfortunately the staff member had forgotten to put it on the till. While this is still not acceptable for your table it does explain the long delay. Once the new shift realised what had happened you were informed of the mistake and apologies were given. This regrettable situation was a disappointment to everyone as we do pride ourselves on great service and great food.

Our party of 5 arrived earlier than our reservation time but this was not a problem. We were warmly welcomed and taken to a table right away. Everyone in our party thought the food and service was excellent. Staff even took the time to tell us some spooky stories as two members of our party had never visited before. I honestly can't find any faults with this place and I'm already looking forward to my next Sunday roast!! Well done to all the Dobbins Inn Team!!

I’ve been here a few times for food but won’t be back. Each time the quality got worse but yesterday was a drop too far. Me and my wife practically laughed at the dinner that was placed before me. A piece of dried up old lasagna about the size of 4 postage stamps and a bowl of soggy fries. I think they need to change the chef or more likely to actually get a chef!! AVOID

Dear Geordie, I am truly sorry that you had a poor experience. For a short period we were struggling with the kitchen team, this would have been over the time you dined with us. As with a lot of hospitality establishments there is a struggle to get chefs. We have had issue with the French fries that we are using, however this has been resolved. In relation to the Lasagna, this is a popular dish and we never normally have anything but positive feedback about it. However on your visit it would seem that we let you down. Had you spoken to us at the time we could have replaced or indeed offered you something instead. But I know sometime people are just cross and don't wish to speak with the establishment at the time. It is of little help to you now but we have a steady team in the kitchen & feedback is positive.

Compact room. Hairdryer, ironing board, ample drawer & hanging. No inroom safe. No air con but received a fan. Initially wifi poor (outage!!) but good when restored. Temperamental shower over bath. Toiletries supplied. Breakfast was fine, cereal, fruit juice, a choice of several cooked hot breakfasts including Ulster fry, porridge, pancakes, toast. Dinner was nice, steak cooked as requested. Desserts were delicious. Paula checked us in, supplied fan & attempted to connect us to wifi on arrival. Staff were friendly & helpful. Free parking at Carrickfergus Castle car park. Exit Hotel right & right again to Train station, 5 mins walk away.

Our experience began when we had to change our booking. Although it was short notice they kindly waived the fees to accommodate us{many thanks Kirsty). Our room was comfortable and clean. We had a very good sleep. The breakfast next morning was freshly cooked. Really nice sausages.

Stayed here for a night. Expedia messed up big time . Accommodated us anyways. Appreciate that but will be on phone to Expedia . Only advice is book direct . No ghost sighting lol. Maybe I scared her off . We had 2 rooms. Our room was good no issues . Dads room had no hot water but unsure if he couldn’t figure out the taps . Breakfast was good no issues overall a good stay no complaints other than Expedia . Thank u for accomadating us

Dear R6587LSpatriciam, I am disappointed to read your comments and sorry your meal was not what you expected. I was surprised to read that you felt a staff member was rude as the team on duty have never had anything but good comments. However, I will explain the issue we had. The dish you ordered was Chicken Stack which, as per the menu is served with peppered sauce. After giving you both your dishes, as we do, you were checked on. At this stage you advised that you did not like peppered sauce and could not eat your dish of food. You had eaten some of the chicken and some of the champ but clearly none that had the sauce on it. This unfortunately was not our fault, had you advised you didn’t like peppered sauce we would have made the dish without it. As a gesture you were advised that a new dish could be made with no peppered sauce but would take a few minutes, this you were happy with. Once the new dish was ready it was brought out to you and a few minutes later you were checked on. You advised that it was the same plate and you could taste peppered sauce. The staff member advised you under no circumstances was it the same plate as you had eaten some of the previous dish and this was made as a fresh dish with no peppered sauce. You did not believe her and then said that the potatoes on top were burnt, these were in fact tobacco onions and are served crispy. Rather than disturb any of the people dining, the staff member asked you to see her at reception when you were leaving and she would discuss further. However you didn’t come to see her but just advised that you would be posting on social media. I am sorry to read that you will not return however I can assure you that at all stages of your visit you were treated respectfully, we want everyone who comes into Dobbins to enjoy their visit and do all we can to ensure that this happens.
