Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Ballyeamon barn is a special spot! The large kitchen table is a place where travellers from all over the world gather, share stories and meals together while all experiencing the unparalleled hospitality of Liz and friends. We had an amazing time getting to know everyone and are thankful for all the assistance and recommendations provided.
We were very comfortable in the dorm, facilities were clean and the shared kitchen had all essentials and more.
The surrounding area is stunning with lovely walks right outside the barn, Glenariff Forest is just down the road! We were lucky enough to experience a wonderful storytelling/music session on Saturday night. We miss the barn already and we’ll treasure the friendships we made. Thanks Liz, Paul, and Rachelle for being wonderful hosts!!

I was here for the Glens Storytelling Festival - fabulous !

Lots of storytellers were staying there, sharing meals and yarns around the kitchen table !

Every Saturday night, there is a session in the barn. Pre-covid, it was 'live', Now it is a blend of live and zoom, with local and international storytellers. Unique !

Ballyemon is a jewel due to the warm, welcoming hospitality of Liz Weir. Both the dorm and loft are quite comfortable, the views are idyllic, and the Saturday night story and song session is wonderful. I highly recommend a stay here.

Fabulous place to stay. We were there for a storytelling festival.

Your host is a storyteller and there are sessions every Sat night in the barn.

There are hostel beds and an apartment. Both can use the hostel kitchen.

Easy drive to Antrim Coast Road, Rope Bridge, Giant's Causeway etc.

I stayed at the barn in autumn 2012 and was instantly spellbound - it is the place where you find the real magic of Ireland! Whether it be the warm and welcoming staff, lovely accommodation, stunning location near the Glenariff Forest Park, or the sessions with music and storytelling (both regular on Saturday night or spontaneous after dinner), I found the true Irish spirit in the Ballyeamon Barn. It is more than just a hostel, and I cannot wait to go back. If you are in the beautiful Glens of Antrim, don't miss out on that experience!

Arrived late and left early so didn't experience the joys of which others have written. But must comment on the support provided by Liz and her assistant. Wonderful travel and places to visit tips. On top of that, I left a bag with all my clothes behind. Liz rang me and then delivered it all the way to Derry for my collection when I arrived there the next day.

We stayed three nights in the loft, and can't say enough about it! The loft is spacious and airy, with views of red squirrels out the window and sheep across the road. Comfy bed. Good shower. Excellent breakfast in the cozy kitchen downstairs. Plenty of free parking. Those are the basics, but the charm of the barn is so much more. The owner, Liz Weir, is a storyteller, and a warmer, more interesting, more welcoming hostess could not be found. She knows everyone and everyplace, and can give excellent recommendations for restaurants, walks, local sights, more -- and she delivers it all with fascinating information and stories. We weren't there for the legendary session that happens every Saturday, but Liz took us to a lively session at a nearby pub. This was our second stay at the Ballyeamon Barn, and we're already looking forward to the next visit.

We stayed in the loft apartment- 2 adults, 2 kids. We found it clean, modern and spacious. Even in this heatwave it was bright and airy with plenty of windows.Very comfortable beds- the kids slept on futons and were comfortable too. Liz, the host, made us more than welcome and we enjoyed talking with her and the other guests. Cushendall is the closest village and you can get a good breakfast for around £6. The nearest beach is at Waterfoot. It's very close as well and there's a shop where you can get basic foodstuffs and alcohol. We stayed for two nights and will return. Bring jungle spray for the midges!

Our large group included several people with additional needs and the understanding and kindness from Liz and her staff ensured we all had a great stay. The hostel itself is amazing - full of character and set in a stunning location, and has everything you need for a pleasant stay. We can't thank them enough for how well we were looked after and would recommend 100% for similar groups.

It's a lovely facility with all that you'll need to be comfortable. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was fully stocked, the showers had hr water and the wifi worked throughout the entire property. Liz is a wonderful host and storyteller who knows a ton about the region. I highly recommend a night or two as you work your way along the Northern Coast
