Inn on the Coast is often celebrated for its prime location, perfect for coastal exploration in Northern Ireland. While guests have called out the spaciousness and cleanness of the rooms, a few note that the decor feels outdated despite ongoing renovations. The friendly and helpful staff earn rave reviews, though some guests mention service can sometimes lag. While the hotel's pet-friendly approach and accessible amenities are popular, the breakfast options receive mixed reviews and the value is occasionally questioned due to pricey extras.

We've just arrived home after a 2 night stay at The Inn on the Coast with our Golden Retriever as part of their Canine Retreat offer!
This deal included bed and breakfast, 2 course evening meal and drink on a night of our choosing, a doggy meal and a doggy treat bag.

The hotel is Lovely and relaxed, perfectly situated on the coast with a great coastal walk right opposite! It was a blustery Saturday walk for us but today (Sunday) was brighter and calmer and we loved the walking opportunities. There were quite a few doggies staying and staff evidently loved dogs, Annie was lavished with attention regularly and was given a sausage for breakfast every morning when she sat with us in the breakfast area for families eating with their pet.
There is a handy entrance to the pet friendly rooms. Ours was really spacious and clean & had 2 beds and a sofa bed so great for bigger families too.
The bar/restaurant has 2 entrances and the back entrance leads to the area for Sitting with Ur pet which was again spacious, staff couldn't have been nice enough giving Annie water and treats and even a doggy meal from barkin bistro.
The steaks that my hubby and I both ordered were massive and so so tasty. We watched the first half of the rugby over dinner but retreated to our room at half time only because some guests kids felt the need to run around constantly and keep coming over to pat our dog while we were trying to eat with their parents deciding to ignore the fact they were disturbing us and other diners... we left so that our dog could get peace to settle.. Several people chose to avoid this area of the restaurant because of them. Defo not the hotels fault I must say, the parents clearly didn't care as they sat drinking their pints. Quite disruptive for those trying to eat and watch rugby.. and I noticed the same kids running around reception later in the evening. Bar staff however were attentive and friendly and our dog loved the meal and treats
Breakfast was choice of continental self service as well as a cooked breakfast made to order... Which was extremely tasty and filling!

There was a fire alarm at 4am this morning however it went off after a few mins and staff was quick to advise that that all was fine. Aside from that all was great.

We enjoyed our stay so much and already think we ll return in the warmer months.

We stayed here last night. It is comfortable, the staff are friendly and the breakfast was excellent.
Most importantly the Covid-19 mitigating measures made us feel comfortable. Hand sanitisers readily available, disposable cups and glasses in the bedroom, a 1 way system and perspex screens at reception.
This was our 1st time away since March so we were a wee bit apprehensive but I have no hesitation recommending it.

I took my Mum here for the night as a treat for Mother’s Day, and we also had our Newfoundland Puppy with us. Absolutely amazing from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. The staff were extremely friendly and nothing was any bother - especially under the current circumstances, they ensured all appropriate hygiene measures were in place so that we were all safe and comfortable.
The restaurant staff were delightful and we had a good general chat with the restaurant Manager who was so pleasant. The food was unbelievable!! A lot better than expected and the price was almost too good to be true.
The room was also better than expected. It was a good size and great amenities. Honestly we cannot wait to come back next time we are in Portrush area. Thanks for having us.

This is a popular hotel and restaurant on the Causeway Coast. We stayed here for one night whilst touring the area.

Arrived relatively late to a warm and friendly welcome when checking in. I very much appreciated my usual request for a high floor room being honoured with one of the few rooms on the third floor (302) and still being able to book dinner in the restaurant and breakfast at a convenient time the following morning.

For a relatively modern building it’s surprising that there didn’t appear to be any lifts to assist in getting our heavy case upstairs. Room itself was incredibly spacious and enjoyed a partial sea view. Despite fairly close proximity of a busy road there was no noise. Decor in the rooms though functional and clean does seem to be original and in need of bringing up to date, though it was at least comfortable apart from the lack of heat on a cold September evening. I don’t recall WiFi speed being especially fast.

We thought dinner in the restaurant was superb, with attentive service and generous portions from a decent menu. Breakfast more adequate than good, let down slightly by a lack of non-cooked choice and a few details in its presentation. I can’t be the only one who doesn’t eat cereal without a spoon, or toast without a plate!

Overall we enjoyed our stay at Inn on the Coast and felt they took the safety of their customers and guests seriously during the Covid pandemic. It represented good value for money and despite a few shortcomings I would consider staying again if nearby.

We booked this knowing that our ensuite was a wet-room, in itself this was not a problem as we are both elderly but, it was not particularly clean. The bedroom was large with 1 double and 2 single beds but very little storage space for clothes. The weather was cold and the radiators didn't work until a workman fixed it. The TV set switched itself on at random times, usually when we had just got to sleep, management tried to fix it with no success and the promised replacement never arrived, meaning we had to remember to unplug it if we didn't want to be disturbed.
I had made sure that they were aware that I have to have a gluten-free diet, but the only cereal option for me was GF cornflakes, I was surprised that there were no GF sausages for breakfast so my choice here was limited too. GF sausages were provided towards the end of our stay. On one occasion my GF toast was served in the same rack as my wife's ordinary toast and every coeliac sufferer will know not to do so and so should catering staff.
In fairness to the Inn on the Coast, the management tried to address our concerns as they realised our expectations were not being met. When I made our issues known to the management I stressed that I was not complaining to get our bill reduced however, they made a substantial reduction anyway.
The staff and management were all extremely polite and helpful and tried to help us enjoy our stay.

We stayed in the family room last night. Firstly there was a really dirty towel left on the table when we arrived which I set on the floor of the room. Secondly the milk was sour when I tried to make a cup of tea. Thirdly the room was like a ice box. Only one radiator in the family room, we switched the heat on and only top of the radiator got Luke warm and rest if the radiator stone cold. Woke at 2.30am room was freezing we tried to turn the heat on for the kids but heating never came on no extra blankets or duvets was left in room. Got up went to reception about 7.45 told the receptionist who informed us all heating in whole hotel goes off all night so no heat in any rooms during night time. Just said she was sorry but no discount offered and wasn't sympathetic to our other complaints. In the bar and restaurant all sofas and comfy seats have been removed so you can no longer go into bar to watch TV and have a relaxing drink as no were comfortable to sit. The two guys in the bar were very pleasant and helpful. And since when are they charging to take your dog's £25 for first dig then £5 for additional dogs per night. Overall we will not be back due to being put in a family icebox room and reception staff who clearly didn't really care. She said we should have complained at 2.30am but as we tried to tell her how could we have moved the kids at that time of morning plus she already stated no heating on in any rooms at night.

My wife and I stayed at the Inn on the Coast in early October. We wound up being disappointed we stayed there.

They only have two stories and is situated right on top of the street. Therefore, there is considerable amount of noise coming from cars passing by. If you're a light sleeper, you will have a difficult time.

The location was pretty good being only a 10 to 15 minutes drive to Dunluce and Giants Causeway. However, if you don't have a car, there is very little within walking distance.

The breakfast is also average at best. Very little selection in the "buffet" and the service by the staff is slow.

We also had a complaint to the front desk that during the night, while trying to sleep, the tv came on in the middle of the night while we were sleeping and woke us up. This happened on both nights we stayed there. While mentioning that to the desk upon checkout, they said there was a short in the wiring....yet offered nothing in terms of compensation or anything else.

Although we don't want to say it, but if you can find better accommodations elsewhere, you should do so.

Stayed for two days with my partner and dog we arrived to a stained sofa bed and stains on the floor bare wires coming up at the side of the radiator photos taken of this. Parts of room not seen a duster in months Don't leave dog in room when going for a meal because if your dog barks at all the door is opened to check the dogs welfare but let's the dog out through 1 single door and two double doors into the car park then all the way to Portstewart crossing the main road then makes lies up to cover there own backs only for a fellow hotel guest and 4 young girls walking we would have lost are dog. (We were away for only one hour for dinner )are dog is a magician it can open heavey hotel doors even on check out are dog was blamed for it she is a small dog.first time in a dog friendly hotel NEVER AGAIN

This is the email I sent management which they haven't had the decency to reply.

I wanted to inform you that I am rather disappointed with my stay.

I understand that this is a very busy time for you all in the hotel but I do think that the service has been some what disappointing.

I would have thought with prices that people have paid to stay, I feel the attention has been directed mostly to the main bar.

Last nights meal we had one starter delivered when two was ordered, I appreciate the apology but the one starter was left while we had to wait for the other. We ordered a bottle of wine and we had to ask for it when our starters had been delivered. I am a vegetarian and as decent the food was i felt that it was a little bland, the dish was supposed to have had roasted vegetables but the chef must have run out as it was 80% broccoli. I think the chef could invent some flavoursome and adventurous dishes. When we went to leave we were told we couldn't take our wine glasses out of the restaurant which shocked me as I had seen others walking out with their glasses and a bottle of wine . If I knew I had to drink my wine out of a plastic container I wouldn't have spent £18 on a good bottle of wine.

I feel Staff in the restaurant have been very friendly and attentive which I praise highly.

I feel that the reception team should have informed me that our room would have camper vans parked outside our bedroom window, (as I assume this was a private group related to someone in the hotel) and that there could be a possibility of noise from children running around playing, to which i wonder if a risk assessment was done, If I had been informed of this I would not have booked.

As I said before, I understand this is a very busy time but when a person pays over £500 for a stay I believe standards should be higher. A thought for next year, those staying at the hotel could have wristbands throughout the entire time so they can be treated as guests and not a Joe Blogs from of the street, which may result in good customer care to your residents and not think about lining your back pockets.

The hotel sits on top of the busy Portrush – Portstewart road, A2. As such the rooms with the sea view have constant traffic noise whilst rooms at the back – passing trains.

There is a large car park at the back.

Our room was facing the main road and it was quite spacious though rather plain. There was plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space. Tea and coffee making facilities were available. The room was cleaned on both days.

The bathroom was of quite standard size with good water pressure. There were those annoying hard squeezy soap dispensers high on the side of the bath and sink.

Breakfast was quite varied although they could have used proper smashed avocado instead of gooey paste, for one of the dishes.

Staff were friendly and helpful.
