Lovely, friendly hotel with a great atmosphere. I spent one night in their comfortable , single en suite room. I was warned at check-in about a Christmas party with a band playing until at least 1am but I didn't hear a thing. The room and bathroom were immaculate, warm and spacious. I had room service which arrived promptly, piping hot and delicious. Breakfast is included in the cost for the night so my day started perfectly! I highly recommend and will be back.

We went for a family Christmas outing to the Downshire Arms Hotel. A fantastic meal was hard by all. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and were treated spectacularly. The staff were fantastic so very helpful at all times and the food was absolutely excellent. Absolutely top class. I had a beautiful meal which was extremely Delicious, the staff kept coming back to see if we needed anything else for example, extra gravy or anything like that and they were really helpful and really really friendly. I would definitely be back here again because I love their food so very much, they really do such a nice option variety and Everything is so wonderful about this hotel. Ryan, McCartney.

Called past for Sunday lunch with my elderly uncle and my daughter. We had never eaten here before. Staff were.pleasabt and polite. Nothing was any trouble. Our table was overlooking the main street and we had a nice view to people watch. Our lunches were hot and tasty. I could not fault the food at all. It was also good value for money

The Downshire Arms Hotel was originally a coaching house in between n Dublin and Belfast and is now a family run, very comfortable hotel with a reputation for first class food, great service, and popular with locals and visitors alike. It is clear that a great deal of money has been spent on refurbishment of the property. You will always have a great welcome in the reception and in the popular lounge bar, which has an open fire for those cold winter days. The bedrooms are all en suite and well furnished throughout, ensuring a good nights sleep. Banbridge is an ideal town to discover South Down, The Mountains of Mourne and anywhere within a 50 mile radius. Just pop Into the local Tourist Board shop in the town and they will give you all you need for your visit. Thank you Nigel and James and your team for making us and all your visitors welcome

I booked in last-minute to this hotel as I needed to be in Banbridge. Leanne on reception warned me that it was a busy night with a DJ and a lot of noise but found me a lovely room at the furthest point from the sound set up. It was spacious, clean and well equipped, with a cosy feel, just what I needed after a 12 hour flight delay. Leanne was very helpful and even offered to move her car if I couldn’t find a space and directed me to somewhere to eat despite it being late on a Saturday night. Bed was comfortable, room was toasty warm and I had an excellent night’s sleep. Had a quick drink in the bar which was in full swing with a live singer and a DJ, great atmosphere, would love to come back for an evenings entertainment. Highly recommended.

Three colleagues and myself flew over for a business meeting in the area and stayed at the Downshire on the weekend of 19-21 January 2023. A warm welcome at reception, followed by dinner which was up to its usual very high standard. The menu is wide and varied , suitable for all palates and freshly cooked The en suite bedrooms at The Downshire are spotless and well maintained ensuring a good nights sleep. Without doubt a lovely hotel which has been completely renovated and where you will always find a warm welcome, excellent food. It has character, charm and friendly staff who go that extra mile to look after their guests.

I've never had a bad meal here, and I have also never felt a more welcoming environment. The staff are friendly & competent - the food is reasonably priced and the portions are perfect. It's my 'go-to' spot when organising a party as the staff are extremely helpful when setting up, decorating and ordering buffet food etc. Would highly recommend their Christmas party nights - they do a cracker yorkshire pud. Bravo.

We were taking our dog for a walk last night and decided to call in for a drink to the beer garden, as we are aware they are dog friendly. Every staff member we encountered was lovely, couldn't do enough for you. The girl on reception was particularly pleasant and helpful. We ended up staying for tea and the food was very good. James the owner took hime to come and chat to us, checking the dog had been given water, which he had been immediately upon arrival, by the girl on reception. James also very kindly send some dog biscuits out and came back to check all was well. Ben, one of the bar staff was also very friendly. In summary, great evening, friendly staff, very dog friendly and good food. Would highly recommend. Thanks to James and his staff who are all providing fantastic service, which is always welcomed.
