The filthy state of the carpet in the hallway should have warned us but we were still unpleasantly surprised to open the door to our very small room to find the carpets equally dirty, unhoovered and the bin in the bathroom still filled with the previous guests rubbish! What a disappointment for what we planned on being a lovely night...

Hotel I booked a night away for my partner's birthday and 'upgraded' to a room within the main building. I was told it would be quirky, and it certainly was! The ceiling was decorated with a number of interesting items that you would not normally expect to see! The bathroom however was less quirky and more in need of resuscitation!...

We had an overnight stay on a groupon the building from the outside is very impressive the entrance is not clearly marked and the approach is unwelcoming our room wasn't ready when we arrived so we were allocated room 311 whoever designed this room did not have a women in mind a large mirror with a sofa in front so...

I booked here for a nights stay on business and was placed in a room in a separate block. The communal areas in the block were filthy and the carpets were stained and the walls were all marked. This obvious lack of care made we worried for my room. However, it wasn't too bad as it was a very big...

This was our first stay at this hotel. Having read the mixed reviews we thought we'd try it for ourselves. Considering its age & that this hotel is going through a refurbishment at the moment we were not put off by the skip & building materials at the front of the hotel. The entrance hall however was very dark adding...

The first impression when driving in was very pleasing. Reception was strange but not unappealing. We were told we were staying in the adjacent building called the tree tops. On opening the door we were greeted with an unhoovered floor and a net curtain hanging off its track. The shower was covered in lime scale and insufficient coffee and tea...

A great location- short trip to Bath, by car or bus; buses run frequently and with the bus stop at the end of the short drive it couldn't be easier to use. The hotel is just loaded with character -- our room was totally stunning , absolutely huge, with such comfortable chairs and a 4 poster bed guaranteed we were...

Very welcoming hotel on exterior, save for all the building equipment and materials. That in and of itself is fine, hotels do go through renovations and that is unavoidable. Quirky decor in the main house, original take on an old traditional theme. Loads of antiques as well. We stayed in the David Houghs Room, or once called room 9. The...

We arrived at The Rudloe Arms very apprehensive having read the reviews on line and we needn't have worried in the slightest. What a wonderful two day stay we had, with the dog. Firstly we were greeted by a friendly and efficient receptionist and told that the dog could go anywhere except in the dining room (if we wanted they...

A birthday treat more like a nightmare. The hotel itself on the drive up looks amazing, until you see the building work, cement mixer and half the garden dug up. If this wasn't bad enough on arrival at our "upgraded room" in the tree top (second building) the worst was yet to come. This was by far the filthiest hotel...
