Wonderful location in a beautiful village. Better than being in touristy Bakewell. Right in the heart of some great walking cycling and sightseeing countryside. The restaurant is well known for excellent food at reasonable prices. Some reviews seem to express concerns but this (experienced) traveller had a very positive experience with the accommodation and service.

Food shown as available 12nn-2pm. We arrived 1.30pm to find very few tables occupied. However, all other tables were showing "Reserved" notices. When unable to find available table 2 customers who were obviously known to staff directed us to sit at one of the reserved tables and called to a lady who emerged from the bar informing her of what...

I booked a room at short notice and on arrival found it to have a nice view to the rear of the property. The room was clean and tidy with plenty of space for clothes in the ward robe. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. The bathroom was tiny but functional. The breakfast was lovely and service was good....

Completed a weeks tour of the UK by motorcycle staying in public B&B's every night. The stay at the ashford arms was as good as any others with regard to quality of accommodation, however two things spoilt the visit. Having arrived at 5pm I was bemused to find the pub all locked up. The signs said bar and restaurant shut...

This is not the place to go if you want to have a nice evening with good food and good service. The staff are rude and the menu is uninspiring. There are many cosy and interesting places to eat. We were unfortunate to have stopped here. If you value your time and money don't bother to eat here.

What a shame - was really looking forward to a nice meal in pleasant surroundings. Unfortunately the level of service was poor. I understand the pub was busy but the landlord was unhelpful and dismissive. The young staff that served us were efficient and helpful but there wasn't enough of them. Dirty tables, table mats well past their best. Tables...

I have eaten at the Ashford Arms several times and been very pleased, but this time was disappointed. I wondered if it was under new management, or a new chef. There was no '2 courses for £10' and thought this may be why the pub was half empty on a Friday lunchtime. My friends were satisfied with their meals (Hartington...

We stayed two nights and were very pleased with value and comfort. The location is handy, and the food is good, especially breakfast. Some desserts a bit stodgy, but the lemon mousse was light. The cheese plate was disappointing: I don't like Stilton and was given just a large portion of bland cheddar and standard brie, no frills. All service...

O.K. you get what you pay for, but at £65.00 per night per room (midweek) this was excellent value. Bottled water, biscuits, plenty of tea, coffee, all replenished each day. The bathroom was the smallest we have ever had but it served the purpose. The breakfast, cooked to order, was excellent. The evening meals, too, were excellent value. The Ashford...

Went for lunch yesterday, lovely warm welcome from Andy and the young girl, sorry forgotten her name, nothing was to much trouble. When we go to Bakewell we wont eat anywhere else, because you know the food is always spot on, I normally have the 8oz Rump in stilton sauce, its cooked exactly as I ask, and there's never any waste,...
