Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Amazing hotel with great food and drinks in a fab location in the Peak District. They have the loveliest of staff who were incredibly friendly and helpful. Big shout out to Sophie who was great and so attentive, even thought it was her first week she was extremely welcoming.

We were given an afternoon tea as a gift. It was excellent and we really enjoyed it. The staff were friendly and professional and the food excellent. The restaurant is a wonderful room with a great atmosphere. We are going to book for Sunday lunch as it looked delicious 😋

We stayed here for the 1 night indulge package and it was great value. The room was beautifully decorated and the bathroom with the bath was a real treat. Nice touches in the room of the nespresso coffee machine, chocolate, biscuits and bottled water. The food was lovely, a great choice at breakfast. The evening meal was included and it was a pleasant surprise to be able to choose from the regular menu with no exceptions or limitations. The dining room is bright and airy. The bar areas are cosy and welcoming. Bakewell and the surrounding area is beautiful with lots to see and do. We would definitely visit again, one night is not enough in the lovely hotel and area.

I love to be surprised. Most places are ok, never as bad or as good as the 1 or 5 star reviews suggest. This was truly worth 5 stars because if the attention to detail on all those little things. Nothing broken. Walk in power shower in a modern bathroom. Nespresso machine in the bedroom. Fabulous bar, comfy chairs, separate coffee shop, staff that really take pride in what they do and seem to want to there. A restaurant a cut above normal pub food

We visited this hotel for my birthday & we weren’t disappointed. Having seen the placard outside saying that if it’s your birthday your main meal & dessert are free, with photographic ID. We decided to book, me & my partner both enjoyed our meal & drinks immensely & will definitely return the next time we are in Bakewell. I had a delicious cheese soufflé to start, & the best steak in peppercorn sauce for my main. Followed by apple pear & ginger crumble. Absolutely delicious. 😋 My partner had the soup to start, & the slow cooked blade of beef for his main. Followed by the best sticky toffee pudding he has ever had which had lashings of butterscotch sauce & custard. 😋 Thank you to the wonderful staff, foe a fabulous birthday meal.

The Rutland Arms provided us with an excellent base to explore the wonderful Peak District. I have one gripe although negligible. We always book our drinks to the room and settle up during checkout but a warning to all, the hotel chooses to add a 10% surcharge to all drinks and food served.

Have visited this hotel twice and it’s wonderful. Gorgeous quirky building with excellent friendly staff and food and drink to die for. Bakewell is a lovely town with excellent pubs and gift shops in a stunning part of the uk countryside. Perfect for a romantic night away or trip with friends.

Spent a day/night at The Rutland Arms whilst visiting Bakewell with a friend and would highly recommend it to others. Right from the outset we were met with friendly reception staff who could not have been more welcoming and we had fabulous room (twin) which was tastefully decorated with lovely touches such as a handwritten welcome note in the room, a Robert’s radio, coffee maker etc. The room was decorated beautifully with everything you need and the bathroom was modern and spotlessly clean. We were absolutely delighted with the room and I am mega fussy so I assure you this is praise indeed!! It was so cosy and comfortable it felt like being at home. We had an evening meal in the hotel restaurant which was outstanding (great choice on the menu) and set in the most beautiful room with exceptional waiting service. Breakfast the following morning was equally good. This is a brilliant hotel and if I’m ever lucky enough to be in Bakewell again this is where I would choose to stay. Thanks to all the staff for making this such a pleasant short stay. Professionalism and friendliness permeated throughout the hotel.

Enjoy a fantastic meal at The Rutland Arms. We had our pre wedding get together the night before our bog day at The Rutland many years ago and we've been back many times since. The food and service was excellent, we really couldn't fault it at all. Top notch and thoroughly recommended.
