We stayed for a weekend in July, we set up the tent in the big field on the right as you go up the driveway. We arrived early so there was hardly anyone there. First Impressions was the place seemed clean we went for a look round & the games room & shop were closed due to the current situation with Covid 19 but there was plenty of sanitizers by the toilets & showers to use & the staff were also doing regular cleaning.
There is 2 or 3 shower blocks which are very clean there is a hairdryer & plug in one of the shower blocks.
The peacocks are lovely although they do make a very loud noise. The field next to the campsite has sheep & cows in which is nice ( bit of nature)
We also went on trips to bakewell & matlock as they were not very far from the campsite.
There is also security who do keep an eye on whether your making to much noise which is good as I've been to other campsites when people are still being loud gone midnight.
Overall really nice & would def go back

This was our third year at Barn Farm as we love it so much, and were very please they had opened following government guidance on the current Coronavirus pandemic. As always the site was immaculate, and we managed to secure our favourite spot which has great views as far as the eye can see, and also a view of the kids park so we can keep an eye on our children. Staff were very helpful and friendly as always. The social distancing procedures that had been put in place were excellent, the facilities were regularly cleaned and the traffic light system for the toilet block was great, although let down by a minority of campers who lacked the common sense to use it and to also explain the purpose of it to their children.
Once again a great week had by all the family. Will defiantly be booking again for next year.

We booked a large heated barn as a base for a charity walk around the Peak District. However, only 3 of us ended up going. When we arrived we had had the mis-fortune of getting a puncture (take the advise on their website and avoid coming across from Stanton Lees. Instead opt for coming via the A6 and B5056). The receptionist was wonderful at contacting a local tyre specialist however, and we soon had things sorted out.

The barn was very warm, comfortable, and all the kitchen equipment we could have wanted was provided. There was plenty of room and it was nice and clean. The toilet/shower block was also clean, warm, and well appointed. The only tiny negative was the time between each button press for the shower.

It would have been a wonderful base for a social walking weekend in the Peaks, and now that we have a walk tested in the area and have tried Barn Farm, I'm hoping the charity will use this site again in the future (hopefully in the later part of next year), if we can get together a larger group.

Difficult to rate this site! Nice location, quiet and tidy. The pitches for tourers are well spaced out. The facilities are numerous and clean. The owner warns that the site isn't flat and he wasn't kidding. Even the hard standing isn't flat. Caravans can cope as they can be jacked up. But it is hopeless for camper vans, even though we had blocks. The site slopes badly in all directions. It's a pity that no effort has been made to landscape the hardstanding to make it flat. My other gripe is that it's difficult to find. Don't follow your satnav! The site is surrounded and accessed by unnumbered roads, many unsuitable for big vans. We had three goes before we managed to get there, eventually ignoring the SatNav and trying to read a totally unsuitable map. Make sure you print out the large map (click on the small one) on the website's "Location and Map" page. In the end we found it easier to access it from the A5012 at Grangemill. (the white Holly Bush Inn is on the corner.) I think the instructions on the website could be better. I also don't understand why the owner insists on two nights at the weekend, even though he had empty pitches when we were there and we booked 4 days before going. Hotels etc. doing that I can understand. They have to change the beds and deep clean, but not a camp site.

The campsite itself was in a beautiful setting, with lovely scenery all around. The showers and toilets are and among the cleanest I’ve every experienced while camping. They Did not smell damp or in any way unkept, and they where checked and cleaned very regularly. Staff very friendly, and lovely to see the peacocks running about. Would definitely go back.

Excellent family friendly campsite. We were two adults two children tent camping in the playground field. Birchover and the surrounding countryside is beautiful. The campsite was spotless and the facilities were spot on, nice hot showers, recycling facilities and little shop selling essentials. Easy access to walks up onto Stanton moor, couple of pubs in the village. Would definitely return.
Check a map before you set off, don't follow sat nav or you may end up on some very narrow farm tracks.

Beautiful location with a nice outdoor seating area in the courtyard (shared with other properties). Lovely dining set, although ours was missing the glass top, and parasol is nice and large. Property accessed on foot (very near to free parking) through a slightly heavy gate. Opened fine but I struggled a little to close it although my husband had no issues.

There is a well equipped kitchen with a large fridge freezer, a microwave, hob, oven, kettle, utensils and extras you don't always get such as a cheese grater, colander, wine glasses, champagne flutes, a cafetiere and a tagine! The property had a ironing board and iron, hoover, mop and dustpan and brush. We were also given washing up liquid, a dishcloth and a tea towel.

The main room is spacious and comfortable. It has two skylights with remote blinds. The wardrobe had a mix of hangers, some broken, but plenty for a short stay. Only one bedside light. Comfortable sofa, TV (live channels only) and a nice dining table for two. I don't think I spotted any pillowcase protectors but may have missed it. I would always expect to see these and a mattress protector, apologies if missed.

Bathroom was large and towels are provided. There was a hairdryer in the cupboard. We couldn't get the spa bath to work as the plug wouldn't stay down. When we had showers instead, we ended up taking the plug out as it wasn't draining quickly enough. Getting the temperature right took a while but you need to sort this via the tap before you then switch to the shower mode.

They clearly listen to guest feedback (things mentioned as missing before were there now e.g. hairdryer). We slept very well here. Peacocks like to visit the courtyard and say hello which was lovely. We had nice views from the kitchen.

I'd read WiFi was available in another review but by the time we'd settled in and remembered we needed to ask reception for this, it was closed. It would be helpful to pop this in the information booklet in the room if there is WiFi available. Our 4G was hit and miss but not a massive issue.

We really enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Incredible first visit to this site, right from check in to vacating the whole experience has been amazing! We’ve never camped before and chose this site based on distance from home, reviews and amenities. It really has exceeded all of our expectations !! Plenty of space, cleanliness is outstanding, the service we received throughout was 5*, plenty of pot washing facilities, showers and toilets, we barely ever queued and they were spotlessly clean. We were fortunate to experience the mobile trucks like the Horse and Jockey ( mobile bar) tons of choice, prices really comparable and service with a smile. The pizza truck was incredible value for money and the pizzas were delicious and the vender was really accommodating ( my husbands allergic to tomatoes !) The ladies on the Coffee truck were always really pleasant and chatty and the coffee, pancakes and hot chocolate were yummy. Emma and Matt in the Butty Box-were rushed off their feet but the chips and bacon butties we had made meals so much less stress and we’re really good value and just what we needed after a long day. This parks incredible, the choice of Venders were perfect ( they only come on certain weekends throughout the year ) we even had live music, bouncy castles , birds of prey and a fireworks display, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. A really positive first time for us and we’ll definitely be back !!

We've just got home from our stay and loved every moment, the few staff we met were so lovely and helpful which set the mood from the start, the site is so beautiful and so clean and tidy, the showers and toilets were spotless and checked regularly, the views from the tent so picturesque...my children loved seeing the peacocks running about and loved the park, and little extras like the lawn game's. There's an amazing walk literally from your tent up the hills it can go on miles and perfect for explorers... the shop on site is well stocked for essentials but doesn't sell alcohol so make sure you bring your own or a short walk to the pub which looked lovely but we didn't manageto visit. We cannot wait to return and explore more 10/10 and cannot reccomend enough.

We stayed here for the August bank holiday weekend and was so pleasantly surprised. I am not a camping person haha, well i wasn't, but Barn Farm has converted me. So much so we are currently researching tents to purchase our own.

We visited as a family of 3, myself, my partner and our 3 year old son. We stayed with my parents and my cousin and her 2 children.

The campsite was so clean, the toilets and showers were plentiful and always clean everytime i used them, which is the biggest bonus for me.

There was a lovely shop, a games room, a laundry room and plenty of pot washing facilities. There was also a children's playground, a bar, several food options, and entertainment available such as bouncy castles and bird show. My son also loved going to see the Alpacas!

Unfortunately my son became unwell whilst we was away and needed a hospital visit and the staff couldn't do enough to help us. One member of staff in particular stood out to us, bur unfortunately i didn't get his name. He was so helpful and kind and made a very worrying and stressful situation much easier and i can't thank him enough for that. I really wish i had got your name, but if your reading this you will know who you are, so thankyou!

The only one very very small recommendation i would have is the option to charge phones somewhere. Maybe something like the charger boxes you get in shopping centres, where you can pay £2 or something into the box which has multiple charger cables, lock your phone in and charge and collect later. Just a suggestion but im sure many people would use them!

The location is lovely with such picturesque views and walks, 2 lovely pubs and driving distance to the lovely Bakewell and Matlock.

We are already planning out next visit to you and we hope to make it a yearly event.

Thankyou so much for creating such a lovely clean site, with such a family friendly atmosphere!
