This is an older a tired hotel, all very clean and as you would expect from a Travelodge but we stayed for two nights when the temperature was up towards the 30 degrees and with no air con or Windows which you could not open more than three inches and a fan which did nothing but move warm air around the room the nights were very uncomfortable.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and did what they could.

The location of the hotel is in a service area just off the A38 with limited fast food outlets meaning you have to drive to get to a restaurant or pub for your meals.

Room was large and comfortable and the bathroom was a good size with a fairly decent shower. We were staying for 4 nights and unfortunately there was no housekeeping due to COVID-19 restrictions so we had to scrounge more tea/coffee refills as the small amount provided didn’t last five minutes. The cost of £88 per night is fairly cheap so you can’t have it all but for two of us we had just one large towel and one small one. No hairdryer is available which most hotels provide these days. There is a distinct lack of plug sockets bearing in mind that most people have electronics that need charging. This hotel is situated in a service area and it’s close to main roads so there is some noise. There’s a Waitrose supermarket in walking distance where you can get supplies if needed. There’s a Burger King on site but nowhere to get a decent breakfast although “breakfast bags” can be purchased at an extra cost.

We have stayed at this Travelodge before and as we were back in the area we decided to stay again. There are plenty of parking spaces at this Travelodge which are free of charge and there are plenty of places to eat.

We stayed here the day after the government said that all restaurants and bars would have to close due to the corona virus. You could still get takeaway from the Burger King etc

We were disappointed to see in the current climate that there was no hand sanitiser at the reception for guests to use. We had just stayed at another Travelodge and they had plenty at the desk.We checked in at the reception desk by a nice member of staff who gave us directions to our room which was on the first floor. On entering the room felt very cold as there was no heating one which was easily rectified. The room was OK could do with some extra cleaning in the bathroom but nothing too bad.

We had a good nights sleep but when we went to have a shower the next day it didn't work which was annoying so we had to have a bath instead which was very annoying as both of us prefer to shower.

On leaving the hotel we did let the receptionist know about the shower but she gave the impression that she already knew that it didn't work, but hopefully this will be rectified for the next guests.

Very dated and in a poor state of repair. This hotel is in desperate need of a major refurbishment.
Room keys are actual keys, not cards like those found in most modern hotels.
The floorboards and stairs creak like an old haunted house. It has a real 'Bates Motel' feel to it!
The shower didn't work and when reported to the front desk, we were told that no-one can come out and fix it over the bank holiday weekend and they were at full capacity so we couldn't swap rooms to one with a working shower. So our family had to go without a shower.
Sound proofing is non-existent - you can hear all the noise from the busy road outside and the noise from other guests walking around upstairs and out in the corridor.
They don't have a cooked breakfast facility, the only options are to have cereal in your room or go to McDonald's down the road.
I asked for a discount on the room rate as a gesture for the inconvenience we experienced during our stay but was told there's nothing they can do and they suggested I write to head office to complain. I'll see how that goes.
I would not recommend that anyone stays here, even for one night.
You have been warned!

Saltash Travelodge

I have stayed in lots of Travelodge”s in the UK , this Travekodge is by far the best I have stayed in. The manager and all the staff are amazing very friendly helpful a absolute pleasure to be here nothing is a problem.

The rooms are very clean and you always see the staff working hard no mater what time of the day.

Highly recommended 10 out of 10.

I moved out from Plymouth Travelodge Derry’s cross as there standards were very poor and the staff unfriendly the assistant manager is a plonker.

Not the best Travelodge I've stayed in. Strange reception as the foyer also has a Burger King and a Subway. We stayed here on Saturday night and the food outlets were shut by 9.30.
Reception was quiet and unmanned when we arrived. Eventually Derek arrived and sorted our key.
Room 26. Top floor over a ?staff exit. Very noisy with the outside door slamming frequently. Room very dated. Dirty looking bathroom. Carpet was grubby in the bedroom and the layout quite strange. Very small mirror with a large sticker on it so no good to anyone. TV was hopeless too, the sound came and went all evening. I know people will say you get what you pay for but recently Travelodge rooms have been extortionate for what they are and this was no exception.
In the morning one side of the sheet was off the bed so I decided to strip the bed. Wish I hadn't. Mattress was covered in old blood down one side and the centre had a huge stain. The mattress cover was no better. With I hadn't bothered. Have taken photos but the staining doesn't show up as dark as it was.
Personally I think this place needs a huge make over. It's still in the 80's. Not the best Travelodge by a long shot just wish they were all the same. Somehow this one has been forgotten.

Stayed here for a couple of nights during Storm Dennis. The hotel is fine and those staff we did see were friendly enough. The room is OK but the 2 chairs were not the most comfortable. Parking was convenient and there wasn't too much noise. The windows open only a fraction so I would not advise staying there during the summer/hot weather. There is a Sainsbury, Subway and Burger King on site - all closed by 9pm.
The major problem was the lack of choice in pillows. All 4 were high and hard - which is not conducive to a good night's sleep.

We stayed for two nights at the Saltash Travelodge whilst attending a family wedding in Cornwall. The first thing that struck is that it’s the best hidden Travelodge we’ve seen. You turn off a roundabout and expect to see it in front of you. Instead, you go below the road level and onto what feels like another roundabout, which has street lights at night that were never on during our stay, and if you don’t keep your eyes peeled you might miss the turn off for the Travelodge, which doesn’t have a Travelodge sign, just one for food outlets and a bed. If you miss it, you have to go around again. The road at the back of the hotel is prone to flooding, so be careful during heavy rain. There are a lot of parking spaces, the car park could do with someone picking up litter. The Saltash Travelodge feels like a motorway service station that’s not on a motorway. There’s a Burger King and Subway opposite the Reception (neither open late), but no sign of the Greggs or Starbucks that there were signs for. There is a petrol station next door and a supermarket across the road. We checked in after a short wait, the welcome was efficient and friendly. The hotel is a little tired and could do with a refurb. Our room was upstairs so a little tricky with bags, but the room was large, clean and warm. All the facilities (TV, kettle, plumbing) worked. The bed was fine. The only slight moan about the room was that the very good radiator clicked loudly when it got up to temperature which woke me up on the second night. There were no issues with noise otherwise. Check out was smooth and pleasant. This was just what we wanted, a moderately priced, convenient hotel where we could just rest and keep our stuff.

What they did well - clean, comfortable room, quiet, free parking
What was poor - The entrance to the "accessible rooms" has five steps up to it! This is NOT accessible. We saw a very disabled man in a wheelchair have to drag himself up these steps using the handrail with extreme difficulty. This is UNACCEPTABLE. There is room to make a ramp on one side of the steps why was this not done?
Furthermore, the toilets were marked "NOT IN USE". This notice was on the door months before too! This is supposed to be a "Services" as advertised on the main road! It is totally wrong not to have toilets available to the general public.
The mirror in the room by the electric socket was very small and was partly covered by a stick on notice - extraordinary!

As a regular customer of over 3 years to this Travelodge I feel it's about time I leave a review. The staff are very friendly and accommodating (special thanks to Gary and Derrick), no problem is to big for them and they always greet us with a smile, helping anyway they can for us to have a pleasant stay. Obviously having stayed so many times (at least once a month) I've tested out alot of the different rooms available and the cleanliness is fantastic, fresh crisp white towels and sheets await and all surfaces are clean and sanitised. I always have a great night's sleep here and if for whatever reason I have an issue it is quickly rectified at the front desk. I will continue to use this hotel for the foreseeable.

The TVs are 30” flat screen. I don’t see why you couldn’t bring your own and use their connections but I didn’t look to see if it would be possible.
