I was in Lurgan for the AE / George Russel festival. This is a great place to stay if your base in Lurgan. Lovely large room, good breakfast. (Our server, Mary, was excellent and engaging.) I felt like I was in the hands of people whose business is taking care of me, not people in the business of taking my money.

We have a 3 year old with a severe peanut, for this reason we have never eaten out due to fear of cross contact with his allergen! Today that all changed. If you have an allergy, I highly recommend The Ashburn as a safe place to eat. We informed them of the allergy ahead of our visit and by the time we got there they were prepared. Kirsty managed the situation flawlessly, making sure all staff were in the know of my son's allergy. The chef Ross came and spoke to us a few times personally and ensured us we were in safe hands. They prepared his food in a separate area of the kitchen and in separate oil. Their menus also list all top allergens and May Contains which is so so helpful. May I add that all of this was done with smiles on their faces and in no way did they make us feel like a burden.

I hope more restaurants follow suit in the future. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

I visited this restaurant for my mother's birthday to be served by a woman of short brown hair with a disgusting attitude. Her whole demeanor is totally wrong to be working with the public. I specifically asked for my burger to be served without salad, only for this woman to bring me the total opposite and tell me its just a bit of lettuce. I am totally turned off this place due to this waitress'poor attitude and her unwillingness to help me and my family. So disappointed

As you can appreciate these COVID times can play havoc with family celebrations, however, careful planning and consultation with the venue can overcome most of these constraints. It was my mother’s 90th birthday, after a Covid compliant table (socially distant and closed bubbles) arrangement was devised all settled for an evening of food and family conversation. All meals were presented and all tasted as good as they looked. Our eldest went for a ‘mixed grill’ described by our youngest as like a ‘feed that would choke a donkey’, he couldn’t finish it (he left an onion ring🤦‍♂️) Food was top notch and the performance of Paul, Gillian, Daire and the team all enchanced the experience for us and my mother. One thing last night does prove is support local, cause locals care more. Anyone reading this from outside the area, the staff will look after and care about you too.
Thanks Ashburn Hotel.

This review is solely for the restaurant.
Difficult to find anywhere in Lurgan to eat - plenty of take-aways but very few restaurants but what a find this place was.
Really well furnished and a nice warm atmosphere from all the staff.
Ordered haddock/chips/mushy peas and salad with tartar sauce and it was as good to eat as it was presented - delicious. My partner opted for the chicken goujons/chips/salad and again brilliant.
All in all with drinks quite reasonable prices too.
Would return and highly recommend.

I brought my class of Special Needs teenagers for lunch along with another teacher and 3 Classroom Assistants- with some trepidation. Prebooking was so easy and Pauline ensured that we were fully and sensitively accommodated. The ladies attending to our group were so friendly and patient. The food was perfect and excellent portion sizes for all. I was amazed at just how large the portion size was for my colleagues. My smaller plate meal was full of flavour. The quality and experience was so good that my classroom assistants on have come back with their families from as far away as Downpatrick. The staff complemented my five lovely pupils, who felt so comfortable at the Ashburn that there was no anxiety displayed.
Thankyou to all for such a lovely experience.

I came with my family for a nice meal out on the 25/3/2022. We have been many times and have largely been impressed, however, tonight was a big disappointment. We booked the Ryan room for the evening. Whilst the food was up to the normal standard that the chefs have set, which is excellent, the service left a lot to be desired. Although Clíodhna was excellent and very attentive when she was able to be, we were left waiting for what felt like an eternity for drinks when asked for, left with empty plates for ages until they were cleared, and just generally felt neglected by the waiting staff (Clíodhna aside). We will likely come back, however we hope that improvements to service will be made.

I actually like the Ashburn and its very helpful staff. Like many hotels it seems to have reverted to awful piped music and big screen tv which adds absolutely nothing to the place. I was disappointed to hear that a lot of the food is not sourced locally. Im sure local bakeries and butchers could supply better quality food and thus helping other businesses in the area. Whatever happened to wheaten farls? Irish Stew? Local meats including the famous vegetable roll for breakfast. More natural light or brighter lighting and décor might make this nice hotel less like a funeral home.

The Ashburn is our favourite restaurant in Lurgan. It’s always first choice for us or if our children are choosing where to eat. We’ve had christenings and communions in it also.
Our most recent visit yesterday was with our 3 children and our sons partner. The food was beautiful in particular the Sunday roasts and we were checked on to make we had everything we needed. Nothing is a bother to the staff and in particular Kirsty the head of food service who is so pleasant and always stops for a chat and will answer any query. The prices are reasonable and they have a great selection of drinks.
We will continue to go for meals as a family and as a couple. Looking forward to trying the new lunch menu.

Do you have a handicapped accessible bathroom?
Answer from AshburnManager

Hello thank you for your question. We do have a bedroom with an accessable bathroom. Unfortunatley we do not have a lift or any groundfloor bedrooms. The accessable room is on our first floor which has a 13 step flight of stairs to negotiate. Regards Paul
