Our family vacation at Meliá Durres Hotel in Albania was absolutely fantastic! The hotel's best feature was undoubtedly the pool - a true oasis of relaxation and fun. The pool area was immaculate, surrounded by lush greenery and comfortable loungers, making it the perfect spot to unwind under the sun. The crystal-clear waters were inviting, and we spent hours enjoying refreshing swims and poolside relaxation.

The kids club was another highlight of our stay. Our little ones had a blast with the engaging activities and friendly staff. From arts and crafts to games and movie time, the kids club kept them entertained while we had some much-needed adult time.

Aside from the excellent pool and kids club, the hotel's service was impeccable. The staff was attentive and always ready to assist, creating a welcoming atmosphere throughout our stay. The beachfront location added to the charm, offering stunning views and convenient access to the sea.

First off the good things
The hotell is brand new and looks amazing. Big rooms, with a big bathroom, big balcony and nice beds. Not to soft and not to hard.. Most of the staff is great. The level breakfast is great. When you get to know the bartenders at the pool you get the best service. Nice beach and awesome rooftop pools/bars.

Do seek out Indrit in the poolbar. Great and friendly bartender. Him and Fatjon the Guest experience manager saved them from getting 3 stars.

So over to the not so great stuff.
Lets start at the begining. We book The level room and where told we would get the best service and the little extra in every aspect. Starting with our own check-in area. This is not ready yet and i have no idea where its going to be. The reception it self is finished so a bit curious about where thats going to be.
We where greated nicly at checkin, but thats it. No information about anything what so ever. we where handed 3 pieces of paper and told that all we need to know is on there. A bellman took us to the room with our luggage, i do belive thats a perk of The Level that they do that.
Bellman was nice, we asked to stop by the Plaza bar for a coctail on our way to the room and he gladly waited.
Got the wrong room at first with 2 single beds instead of 1 king size. Bellman quicky called the reception and fixed it fast.

Food:
When we booked the trip we where told it was going to be all inclusive with 9 restaurants to choose from. it was 1 (2 if you are the level).
We asked the reseption to book one of the other restaurants and where told that we have to pay there. we said we are all inclusive, but then they just told us that all incl is just the Merkado buffet.
The hotell never promised us anything when we booked, so we took it up with TUI that we booked through and after 2 days we where told to go to the reception and get 3 voucher for free dining at casa nostra, sportsbar or Cape Nou. thats 3 per week you stay there.
So over to food quality. There is no consistency what so ever. Except if you order pizza from Casa Nostra or burgers from the sportsbar. everything else looks and tastes different from day to day. A kid could probably cook a better pasta meal than the chef at Casa Nostra.
Be aware that Cape Nou is only for lunch, not dinner. closes at 16:00.

Food at the Merkado buffet is actually not that bad. good variations, but a bit bland. But then again, thats why they have salt and pepper and the table. You have different spices you can add if you want. They also make you an omelette if you want.
For one week stay its more than enough, but 2 weeks it gets a bit boring. There are other restaurants in the area, just ask for recomendations and get a cab.

bars:
Again consistency is key. Its different rules from bar to bar. and some places water is all incl, other not. One bar you get aperol spritz, another not.
coctails taste different everytime. sometimes you get mojito with sprit other with water and last with tonic water. Some waiters overpoor with liquer so you cant even drink the coctail.

But head over to the poolbar and find Indrit, be polite and he will take care of you.

Houskeeping:
This is just a joke! we didnt see any houskeeping the first 2 days so we went to the reception and told them about it. Asked us why we need them....
we where then told its only every 3 days. great, you get one roll of toiletpaper for 3 days... Talked to a manager and he told us, no its supposed to be every day and every 3 days they deep clean the room, changing linnens and stuff like that.
when they first come they realy dont clean that well. they use a broom on the floor and thats it. Still alot of sand and stuff on the floor after they been there. we never saw them everyday.

Reception:
Also a joke. They are polite and friendly, but its like they write down what you want, but then forget about it. the soap dispenser in the shower fell down, we went down every day for 4 days asking them to fix it. Nothing happened before i told the manager.

Dont yell at the waiters and bartenders. They only follow the rules set by the managers. If you want to complain go to the reception and ask for a Guest Experience manager and give them feedback. I saw one person yelling at the managers and I talked to them a few days later. Nothing happened. When I talked in a calm manner, we got what ever we want.

one of the Guest Experience Managers is Fatjon, great man that works 14 hours a day. He goes above and beyond to fix every issue you have!

All in all its a great hotell, but they need alot of training and alot more staff.
I wish all of you going during the summer the best of luck. you are going to need it. Its going to be mayhem.

give awaiters tip in cash. Dont give it on the bill you have to sign. Word on the street is that the managers from each department takes tips you leave on the bill for them self. Not confirmed, but belivable.

At the poolbar its chaotic from time to time. things takes time and you might wait 5-10 min for a drink. Not the bartenders fault, they are 2 serving a few hundred people a day. word is they make over 300 mojitos in day. They are working hard and deserves respect! its up to management to hire more staff.

Plaza bar is a lot more hakuna mata! they have nothing to do, but making a coctail takes for ever! good drinks, but takes for ever.

Big Shout out to Guest experience manager Fatjon, waiter at the plaza bar Andri. Bartender Indrit at the poolbar and waiters at the pool Arsenol and Rani! Also Alex in the poolbar. Great dude, but can come off as abit rude from time to time. Just becaused he is stressed out.

Would definitly come back in a year when everything is open and they have enough staff and training.

Our stay at Meliá Durres Hotel in Albania was nothing short of exceptional! From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us with warm smiles and provided the best service throughout our entire stay. They were attentive, accommodating, and made us feel right at home.

The entertainment options at the hotel were top-notch! The Aqua Dances were a definite highlight - a fun and lively experience for guests of all ages. The poolside ambiance and music created a joyful atmosphere, and we couldn't resist joining in the water-dancing excitement.
Apart from the fantastic Aqua Dances, the hotel offered a diverse range of entertainment activities, ensuring there was never a dull moment. From live performances to sports, there was always something fun to do. The amenities and facilities were excellent, and we loved the beachfront location, providing breathtaking views of the sea. The dining options were delightful, with a wide array of delicious dishes. We highly recommend this hotel for an enjoyable and memorable vacation in Albania!

My friend and I was really looking forward to visiting Albania, we were booked into this hotel as our original one was not opened, Bring a MELIA hotel we was expecting a great trip, sadly this was the worst MELIA we have stayed in, straight away they gave us a room with a double bed when we had booked singles & had this confirmed. The porter that took us there basically said tough, the housemaid suggested we opened up the sofa bed, not great as we paid a lot of money for our stay. I went to reception as they were supposed to send someone up to help us, after waiting 20 minutes I went down and spoke to a manager who dealt with the problem.
All inclusive was a joke, only cheap branded spirits that are better suited to put in your car 🤢 you could eat in the other 3 restaurants but had to be given tickets and book this option. Food in the main buffet was repetitive and bland and was so busy. Not a pleasant experience at all.
Hotel was clean but the room cleaners literally spent 5 ministers cleaning ours, luckily we are fairly clean guests 😂
Bars was such hit and miss whether you got a drink or not, far too many guests and not enough staff.
Pool were freezing and beds were constantly reserved for hours and no one sat on them, this was a major problem that needs to be dealt with.
One pool was empty as there was no sun beds put out, this could have been better managed.
Weekend was really busy with local people maybe? Whoever they were had no respect for the hotel or other guests and left dirty nappies and food rubbish on the sun beds, around the sun beds, or throwing it in other guests garden. & definitely had no control of their children who were unruly and disrespectful to other guests, ! 1 Mother i asked to keep control of her children actually said to me “who cares|” changed her attitude when i pointed out I did and told her exactly what danger her little darlings where putting themselves in 🤬
We had to leave early due to bereavement, we wasn,t sorry to leave.
Overall with training, more staff and better managed this hotel has the potential to be great, the staff also need to stop lying (about available rooms ) and be more guest friendly especially when your guests are Travel agents.

We stayed four nights at this hotel at the end of our holiday in Albania and booked the Level experience. We received a warm welcome from reception on arrival.

The main swimming pool and the surrounding area was really nice - like most pools at other resorts in Europe it was not heated but we were still able to enjoy being in the water.

Our room was large and comfortable. Unfortunately the housekeeping lets the hotel down a little, as our room was only cleaned properly on two days of our stay and one day not at all. Also, although there was an espresso maker in the room, the capsules were not topped up each day either.

Having breakfast in the level lounge each day was a tranquil start to the day. However, dinner at the Merkado was not a pleasant experience. Either you had to turn up as the restaurant opened and there was a surge of people pushing their way in or if you went later there was much less choice on offer at the buffet. We tried the snacks at 5pm in the Level Lounge but they really did taste like they were leftovers from breakfast, as the sandwiches were quite stale.

We did enjoy the Level pool area and bar on the second floor - Daniel was attentive and friendly behind the bar. We also enjoyed having drinks at the Level lounge and I would highlight that Adrian is a real asset to the hotel

One thing I would highlight though is that the staff do not seem to know what is/is not incliuded in the Level package. There also seemed to be a difference of opinion between what some of the staff told us and what is on the website.

First time in Albania, went here for our 17th wedding anniversary. Stayed at Meliá Durres, Amazing Amazing hotel/resort.
Check in and check out was a bit slow due to long queues even though we should have had a special check desk due to us booking The Level room but that was not available.
Staff were very friendly helpful and great.
The room was also amazing very spacious, neat, tidy and enough amenities. We got a sea view room but the view wasn't that great from the room we had but it was good enough.
There are lots 9f activities for both adults and children.
The food was excellent, we had breakfast at The Level lounge and it was just fantastic.
We also had dinner at 2 of the restaurant on site Cafe Noa and Cafe Nostra both excellent but I will tend more towards Cafe Noa.
Astrit who works there as the Manager in charge of The Levele lounge was excellent.
The hotel staff were really great in helping to organise an anniversary dinner and some fruits amd champagne in the room for an additional cost though but we'll worth it. We had an amazing time and will be back.

Where to start?
There are lots of very good things about this hotel. Firstly it’s very new and therefore it’s fresh and clean and relatively unused. Having said that, the finish looks of some things is cheap and I reckon within 5 years it will have deteriorated somewhat. For example the banisters are made with chipboard veneer which is already peeling in places.
There are also lots of small details missing such as hooks on the public toilet doors.
The biggest faux pas is that there are lots of little 1 inch steps all around the hotel which are major trip hazards and we saw one lady fall badly. We ourselves trip several times.
Food: this is quite frustrating because the staff are working hard to provide a good service, everywhere looks spotlessly clean, tables laid but a lot of the food is buffet and unfortunately it’s cold. Unless you manage to get lucky and get an item of food that has just been freshly cooked by the chef.
In the level lounge it is a la carte, however the menu is very limited (choice of 3 main dishes) and so on a 7 day stay it’s rather repetitive!
Tried to dine in the Italian restaurant but after getting a table and waiting for 20 minutes without the offer of a drink (or food) we gave up and walked out.
The room is lovely, spacious and cleaned every day. There’s nothing I would change.
The main pool is amazing, loads of sun loungers and Bali beds and plenty of umbrellas. But the music seems to be on a loop some days and is very repetitive.
Rooftop terrace is lovely although the bartender plays his own music which wasn’t to our taste and was rather boom, boom!
All in all, the hotel is lovely but they’ve got work to do to get it to its full potential.

I had the pleasure of being served by Amlet during my recent dining experience, and I can confidently say that he elevated the entire meal to a new level of excellence.

Amlet's professionalism and attentiveness were remarkable. He greeted us warmly, patiently answered our questions about the menu, and provided insightful recommendations tailored to our preferences.

Throughout the meal, Amlet demonstrated exceptional timing and efficiency. He ensured our drinks were promptly refilled, our orders were delivered promptly, and he checked in on us regularly without being intrusive.

Meliá Durrës Hotel

Excellent
My first holiday in Albania
I would like to thank all the staff for being kind, helpful, and friendly.
To start with, I arrived at the hotel at 8:00 p.m. on Oct. 17, 2023. At the reception, they were very friendly and helpful in carrying the luggage. On my first night, we had a dinner at Casa Nostra Restaurant. They were very kind. The foods are very tasty; I loved them. The portion of the food was also perfect. We also had our breakfast buffet at Level Restaurant. The hostess was very nice and kind. I also met Mr. MARCO RESTAURANT MANAGER.
He is very friendly. They also have a lot of breakfast variations; you can find all you need, as well as hot and cold beverages. The food is very tasty. They also have fresh juices like banana, orange, mango, and many more. We also had a drink at the Plaza Bar; it was all excellent. They have a lot to offer.
This was really a perfect time to visit because it's very quiet and you can really relax. The rooftop pool and bar are very beautiful. Beach Beach Bar is an ideal place to get a drink and enjoy the beautiful beach. To experience team thank you also for your warm welcome great job.
Overall I really enjoyed my short vacation there and I really recommend this Hotel for everyone: families ,couples and, events
Thank you for my great stay. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Hi, since I have been there on winter season I may not completely help you but I will try, during this time if you go music is there on weekends live, there is a restaurant near the main pool, all-inclusive will be served during summer time I hope staff will give their best effort to answer your question. If you go now its worth visiting and pick the half board package now and I am sure you will enjoy.
