Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent facilities, everything well maintained and fantastic staff. I stayed with 3 colleagues and we were all very happy with the standards of this delightful hotel. We would highly recommend it. We used the pool, spa and of course, the bar. All first class.

The room was great and spotlessly clean and well presented. The bed was large and very comfortable. We were so impressed with the standard of houskeeping during our stay. We made a point of mentioning this at checkout and praising the unseen staff (Tori, Arnette, Emma, Tia, Gabriel and Tina) who did such a great job. We had breakfast each morning and ate in the bar each night and can only say that the food we had was great. The staff were friendly and welcoming and only too keen to help. Having free access to the liesure facilities (pool, sauna and fitness etc.) was a big plus as at other hotels there has been additional charge and/or time restrictions. The local rail station was located very close to the hotel (5mins walk) so we decided to leave the car behind and travelled into Carlisle which took only 8 minutes. The hotels location makes it a great base from which to explore the surounding area and we will certainly be visiting again.

Excellent service but not only that, a real warm welcome. I have stayed at the Crown many times as part of my work and ta staff are always friendly, remember me and even what drink I have ...ginger beer. In particular was Paige Demi and Beppe. The food is great so I always chose to eat in their restaurant and the rooms are always comfortable

Our family stay at the Crown Hotel was delightful. We arrived early afternoon and were greeted by incredibly friendly staff. Our room, in the Rose Cottage, was fabulous. The kids had a blast in the awesome pool, tiring themselves out. Dinner in the Waltons restaurant was delicious, especially the steak, and the kids’ portions were just right. The next day, we enjoyed a scrumptious cooked breakfast before another fun-filled pool session. A big thank you to all the lovely and helpful staff who made our stay so enjoyable. We can’t wait to return!

2 night stay -Room was serviced but floor not hoovered or duvet cover not changed. Expect tannoy announcement and the rumble of train engine from the station next door. They run a sports club for non residents here. I dont think they are compatible with good hospitality. The Crown is not what it was. A very nice country hotel. Room delux offered in a cottage grd floor view facing street. I asked for a view and they switched me to a Superior but although told i would get a reduced rate , I did not. They gave me a free pie and mash and crumble instead which was very nice. They insist you pay in full in advance. Better to use booking.com They will not better booking.coms prices but will price match if you tell them when you book direct. All in all a disappointment for £251 for 2 nights. Not what it was . Not 4 star. But it remains a top beauty spot. You can train it to Carlisle or walk across the river to Queens Annes Inn of visit the castle.
