Shoreline Hotel boasts a prime beachfront spot that guests love for its stunning sea views and convenient airport access. However, the hotel's service receives mixed feedback, with some guests praising the staff's attentiveness, while others face disappointments due to service delays and booking problems. Although the atmosphere is often described as inviting, travelers criticize the value, citing overpricing and unmet expectations.
Room experiences also vary, with complaints about cleanliness and maintenance despite comfortable beds and beautiful vistas. Amenities are appreciated for their location, but some guests suggest they could be enhanced.

Detailed Reviews
I booked the €179 valentines deal which included night stay in superior room, 3 course meal and breakfast and bottle of prosecco. The view when we arrived at the hotel despite the bad weather was amazing with a long beach however the exterior of the hotel was bland. One arrival we where checked is super quick by receptionist Lorraine who was extremely pleasant and welcoming and surprised us with a free upgrade to the bridal suite. This was amazing and a lovely surprise especially for valentines weekend.
I was slightly disappointment with not having a kettle in my room but the staff offered to dial 0 and they bring you a coffee or tea up which was an extra treat. The bridal suit room was spotless and had lovely towel swans and rose petals, prosecco and desserts presented. The view of the beach was beautiful. The bath tub was amazing with tv view.
The valentines menu didn’t have much option, my partner is quite plain eater so I asked for a normal menu or steak that I could order and pay separate for but was told no, then the couple next to us had a steak each .
We ordered anyway with portion of chips extra for him.
My fish main was very small , wish I had of ordered sides . The pate was lovely. More free prosecco with our meals the food was good quality just poor option and small portion . We did not go for breakfast the next morning as we had a lie in. There was an option on the door to order room service for breakfast which was good .
The checkout was also at 12 which is perfect. Defo be back in the summer to walk the beach . Thanks again

My wife & I are just back from a night at the Shoreline on a dinner, bed & breakfast deal. The room was small for a double but was on a corner so had large windows on two sides looking out over the Irish Sea & Lambay Island, glorious. Give me a big view over a big room any day. No tea & coffee making facilities in the room but to paraphrase myself, give me a big view over a big cup of tea any day ! In contrast to some previous guests complaints the room was spotless, tv & remote worked perfectly & there was lots of hot water in the lovely cascade shower. So it looks like they do take on board people’s comments. Dinner was gorgeous, lovely tasty food well prepared & presented, likewise breakfast. Service was prompt, efficient & friendly. We would happily return for the view alone but even if the place was fogged in the friendliness of the staff & excellence of the food would make the stay worthwhile.

Spent an overnight here last weekend. We have stayed at this hotel before, and the really big advantage it has is its position on the headland – the cliffs are to the left as you walk out on the patio, and the beautiful sandy beach to the right. Covid protocols were very good here. We booked bed and breakfast with a two-course meal, and a room with a sea view. The sea view didn’t disappoint – the room we got was at the end of the corridor and it meant we had a window on each wall! The room, whilst clean and comfortable, was a bit on the small side, but was sufficient for us for an overnight. We did part of the cliff walk before dinner. Please pay heed to the warning signs about erosion and stay on the path that is safe. Dinner was served in the hotel bar – there is no restaurant here anymore. We ordered White Bait and Caesar Salad for starters, and Chicken Rigatoni and Roast Beef for mains. Food and service were good and despite a few people dining at the same time, social distancing was managed very well. Sleep quality was good, despite being woken at 6.30 a.m. on a Saturday morning by somebody washing the side window! We couldn’t see who it was, but we could definitely see and hear the water rushing through the extended pole and brush. Ridiculous really when guests are staying. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order, and was plentiful, but was by no means hot. After breakfast we went for a walk on the beautiful sandy beach before checking out and heading for home. We enjoyed our overnight stay and have no hesitation in recommend this hotel if you just want a break away. Pay parking has been introduced in the grounds, but it is free for guests – just give your car reg on check in.

We have just returned from 3 nights at the shoreline hotel , I won’t be returning and I wouldn’t recommend it . Hotel is located on a beautiful spot , we booked 3 nights in a sea view balcony room , we were told on arrival that there was a mistake and we would have to go to the garden view room 121 which is right next to the beer garden so had plenty of onlookers , we had to keep the curtains closed . No key given to open the patio doors .
Similar experience to another guest we chatted to on departure .
With the room not available until the next day we had to unpack , pack and unpack which was vexing and to top this off they told us we would have to check out of our garden room at 12 and couldn’t check in to the sea view room until 3 … seriously there mistake at my inconvenience and an apology is not enough in this situation .
No kettles in bedrooms due to covid , there words not mine ,
Only 2 big towels & 2 small towels per room regardless of how many people were staying , we were 4 people staying and had to ask for fresh towels during our 3 day stay
We also had to ask for toilet roll
No cleaning of rooms on a 3 night stay due to covid
Signs to say to wear masks in public places and this was not enforced at all , I witness a manager not wearing any mask in kitchen area ..
So you can’t have a kettle in your room and only two towels but walk around the restaurant as you like with no masks ..
basic breakfast food , nothing special , tables were not set appropriately, we had to ask for sugar , had to ask for milk , teaspoons , wait was long for breakfast , our order was served wrong .
We got takeaway from the restaurant on the terrace , I ordered fish Gounod with lime mayonnaise , 3 staff I had to ask for the lime mayonnaise .
All the young floor staff were courteous , polite and eager to please it just seemed to me they did not have good management/ owners .
In my opinion it felt like this hotel used covid to see how much money they could save and make from customers .
The rooms are certainly not newly renovated …
Small stool on balcony so bring some beach / camping chairs if you would like to enjoy this …
Disgusted we paid €410 for 3 nights of rubbish , well done to the young pleasant and friendly staff .

It was our first stay in a hotel under the new COVID-19 regulations. We had to get used to asking for items (iron, glasses, water, tea/coffee tray ect) which were removed from the room to comply with the new rules. Do not hesitate to ask reception for these items, they are included in your room price as before. Also, now you have to book in advance for breakfast. We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were wonderful. We found the hotel to be very comfortable and clean. The new owners have done a great job in renovating the hotel. We will stay again. I have made a video review of our stay which you can find on my Youtube Channel - Celtic Spirit of Ireland (link in our profile).

we have stayed in the Shoreline on numerous occasions when it was previously the Waterside and loved our stays, food amazing and location is perfection. This was our first experience of the re-branded Shoreline and terrible experience. We booked the sea view and it consisted of looking at grass and a bush out our window, no sea in sight. Moving onto the dinner menu. maybe I am old fashioned but..... upon reading the menu couldn’t figure out half of the dishes on the menu, seemed to be no soup (it was called a tomato and fennel bisques), no red meat on the main (just three options) and the pasta on the main wasn’t even referred to as pasta! we had seen an alternative Valentines menu on check in and when we complained this alternative menu was produced with steak. Overhead a waitress asking another couple were they happy with “that” menu, reply "not really but we have no choice". I ordered the steak, two small pieces of steak with some mushrooms and a few crispy onions sprinkled over but needless to say chips, vegetable or mash didn't come with the steak, all extras! Another couple sat down when we were almost finished and I could see the lady frowning and puzzled reading the menu (it wasn’t just us!). My partner passed them by on the way from table and caught her eye and she also made the comment "I haven't a clue what I am reading here" In summary the new Shoreline is trying to be upmarket and posh and it has destroyed what make this hotel one of our favourites, we had planned to have our wedding there but not anymore.

Upon arrival we were met with suspicion as our name was not on the list to get in the gates. A man was lifting up the barrier to let people park. After lots of hustle and bustle he checked my phone for confirmation of stay and finally let us park. When we got in there was a lot of awkwardness at the front desk. We were told there was a cancellation and that we could sit in the bar for dinner, so we got dressed and ready to go down, only to be called and told that they actually didn’t even have a table. We got room service instead which included the seafood chowder being served in a disposable coffee cup. The room smelled and there was noise in the corridor till about 3am. The shower was cold, and when we were leaving we weren’t asked if we had a nice stay. Seemed like inexperienced staff which isn’t their fault. It doesn’t seem worthy of it’s 4 star rating and the pictures online really sell something that isn’t delivered. Overall a very strange experience. I wouldn’t recommend it to a friend.

Stopped off for lunch there recently and was wowed by their location on the natural sandy beach overlooking Lambay island.
After walking through their outdoor terrace I entered the Bar/Dining area.
Staff were overworked and stressed but friendly despite the fact that they were serving inside and out
The food although passable was a dissapointment.
Ordered the special " Turkey and Ham" which duely arrived ( covered in Generic type gravy which we served at functions in the 1980s !!).
However the biggest dissapointment was the defrosted vegtables. PARTICULARLY since they are located bang in the middle of Ireland s market garden area !!
I saw the reviews of the rooms which I thought were unfair because at the end of the day , it's a former beach front hotel and it's design attests to its history.
But the food !!

Getting our wicklow trip cancelled due to the lockdown we were already as down as it was. We then found a room in shoreline hotel reasonably priced for 3 nights and we particulary picked the garden view because it was gorgeous in the pictures. Upon arriving to our room, we were disappointed because there was no garden view. See pictures attached. We went straight to reception to let them know that we booked a garden view room, but they refused to transfer us and said that it is that room advertised and that there is a garden behind all that crap. We were appauled by what was said and how it was handled. So naturally we couldnt do anything anymore and so we took it much to our disappointment. The second complaint that i have and have also voiced out with the staff. €25 halfboard was included in one dinner per person in our booking and that was confirmed by hotel reception upon arrival. When we went to the restaurant we told the staff that we are doing the €25 halfboard for dinner before being sat down and so they gave us a special menu with limited choices compared to there normal menu and that was fine. When paying they charged us the normal price, and so i told the staff again that were doing the €25 halfboard so i was confused with the charge. They said initially they thought that too but actually that was not included in our booking. I repeated myself and said that it was and still they refused to change it. If they thought that the first time why werent we given the normal menu so that we had other choices for food. Instead we had to adjust ourselves and choose from the “special menu” of limited choices but still paid full price.
Also for 4 days we were only given tea and coffee sachets on one day and when i asked reception the next day for tea and coffee sachets, we were literally given 2 paper cups with hot tea and coffee. We didnt bother calling again.
To conclude this review, we will not be coming back here as we felt that we were ripped off and there is definitely false advertising. We were already depressed as we were supposed to go wicklow and it was our first few days break from work in months. Staying in this hotel just gave as more stress.

We've stayed at Shoreline a number of times and each time we've had a great experience. We've stayed in both types of Sea/Ocean view room. The Superior sea view rooms are very nicely appointed but the two regular sea view rooms we’ve stayed in, although unmodernized, are larger and have small balconies. I hope next time we stay, that there may be one of these larger sea view rooms modernized! Just being able to hear the ocean is so therapeutic during the COVID craziness. The standard of COVID safety protocols in the hotel is excellent.... BUT almost as important as the location and room standard is the quality of the customer service from all the Staff we've encountered. Including Lorraine (?) and all the front desk and restaurant team. A big thank you for being so nice!

Yes.The rate includes travel to and from the airport. It is a great deal and staff are very friendly and accommodating. Anthony usually drives and he is the best. We also had a drive to and from the local train station when we were there in March. Can't wait to go back to this friendly place.
Hi, you should email the Hotel direct and ask them if you can pre book their shuttle bus? They will require your flight details, , ask them to email you confirmation and also to provide you with vehicle details and name of driver for security purposes ,
The hotel is actually a mile out of Donabate, which has a great rail service (approx 12 minutes into the city) - trains are regular, although are reduced on a Sunday....
(when I was there, the hotel ran a minibus into the village, but a taxi is relatively cheap and it is a comfortable walk - i.e. no hills!!!)
