If you're staying in Athlone, stay here. Wonderful hosts, great breakfast, great bed, great room, great hospitality and not expensive at all. WiFi is very fast and reliable too. They know how to treat people and they do it very well.

The picturesque Shelmalier House - reminiscent of those idyllic houses in Cornwall or the Cotswolds - is an oasis of peace and tranquility. And here is something else, the positive smorgasbord that breakfast is: cereals, yogurt, fruits, cheeses and full Irish breakfast...

Room was excellent with all the features you would expect. Jim was very helpful and gave advice on different places to eat and drink, it's about a 20 minute walk to town but well lit at night! The breakfast was fantastic and we gorged ourselves, beautifully cooked and really high class ingredients. A great place to stay, I thoroughly recommend...

Nancy and Jim are lovely hosts. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay with them. Jim most jovial and entertaining. Nancy presented a delicious breakfast. The room was spacious and the beds comfortable. The grounds surrounding the house are beautiful and the area is peaceful.

I spent two nights in Shelmalier House last weekend. I can't find words to describe how much I enjoyed it. Shelmalier House is a beautiful house with magnificent garden. There is ample parking, The house itself is beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, and the rooms are very well appointed. The room I stayed in was spacious, well heated, tea-making facilities, television,...

Let's say two things before starting. 1) in our trip to Ireland this was the cheapest accomodation we had 2) in our trip to Ireland this was the best accomodation we had. For sure the best breakfast. For sure the best garden and the best house. I'm really glad to have been in Athlone due to this b&b. This is...

We stayed for one night at this B&B and found the accommodation to be of a high standard with a comfortable bed and large en-suite. Tea and coffee making facilities are provided in the bedroom, which is a bonus, and free wi-fi is available. The breakfast menu is extensive and varied and cooked to order. Jim was very helpful in...
