My wife and I were going to another location and unfortunately our car broke down on the M8. PJ (an absolute gentleman - he'll know who he is if he reads this) in the recovery truck got us booked into this hotel at the last minute. While both of us were more than happy to get off the M8 safe and sound, staying in this hotel was a pleasant experience. Check in was easy and uncomplicated.

We stayed in the family room to the front of the hotel which comprised a double, a single and a fold away bed. The double bed was very comfortable and we had a very good sleep. There was no discernible noise in the morning from the street allowing us to have an uninterrupted sleep until well after 8.30am.

Breakfast was served in the morning. There is full waiter service and everything is brought to the table. As we ate our Cornflakes our hot breakfast was cooked fresh. We were served by two staff. I only got Stephen's name but both were exceptionally attentive and pleasant. Nothing was a bother to either of them.

We were able to leave our luggage at reception while we waited for the Dublin bus. During that time we were able to amble up to the Rock of Cashel and view some of the sights of Cashel.

Although not a planned trip by any stretch of the imagination I have nothing but praise and admiration for Baileys and any of the people we encountered. Thank you.

We stayed at the Bailey Hotel in Cashel last September (I’m late writing this) which was one stop on a three week journey around this beautiful country. We made all our own hotel arrangements and of all the ones we made, the Bailey was the only one that sent us an email detailing the parking and check-in process. It made it so smooth considering it and a lot of the hotels are difficult to figure out when you first arrive. Sinead Cash, the manager, also included info on the restaurant and a recommendation for a local tour guide. We loved the accommodations here and our reasonable rate included breakfast and entry to the Rock of Cashel. Had a fabulous time in Cashel.

This evening I had a beautiful two course meal, which only cost 20.00 euros, seperate to drinks.
From booking my table,to paying my bill, I received 5 star service. The cleanliness was pristine, sanitise everywhere, spotless everywhere. I watched staff sanitising all tables and chairs in between customers. I felt very safe as a person autoimmune compromised. I will definitely visit again.

We were out for a weekend family meal at the Cellar Bar and Restaurant in Baileys Hotel. We were greeted by a lovely lady at the door who took us to our seating area. The restaurant bar area seemed lively and busy on a Saturday night. We were presented with our menu by a nice waitress.

When ordering I asked if the wings for the starter were fresh or frozen. The waitress insisted that everything was fresh which I was delighted to hear. We ordered the wings as a starter to share at the table. For mains I ordered the pasta special, we had two orders of lasagna, the salmon and the fish special. The starter came out in a timely manner with a finger wash bowl, which was a nice touch and side plates for everybody. But unfortunately this was where everything started to go downhill. The wings were not fresh, they were frozen and deep fat fried. This was a major disappointment as I would not have order them had I known that. Working in management myself in the hospitality industry, I found this very deceiving and disappointing. The mains came next. Both fish mains were nice and well plated but unfortunately the lasagnes and pasta special were very disappointing. The lasagna was dry, flavourless and over cooked. It had obviously been reheated and was not freshly made. The pasta special was flavourless and bland. The sauce seemed to have been watered down and the chicken was nearly nonexistent. Overall the mains were dissatisfying. For dessert we had the crumble and chocolate cake, these were ok but not the best we have had. Myself and another family member were still finishing our desserts when we were told that we had to leave for the next bookings. Normally we would have no issue with this however, we were not notified that our time was coming to an end. Some notice would have been nice as we would have ensured to have finished eating sooner.

Seeing that the hotel was Failte Ireland Covid-19 Safety Chartered Certified was a reassurance as coming from the hotel/hospitality industry I understand the work the team have put in to achieve this. Therefore, I was surprised to see the kitchen staff were not wearing any masks or face shields. This was really disheartening as the kitchen was an open kitchen and everybody could see them. The waiters wore face shields and were continuously cleaning which was good to see.

I wanted to speak with management about the food on the night however as it was a special occasion my mother asked me not to make a big deal about it. I was very disappointed overall as I had heard amazing things about it and several family members have dined there regularly. Overall the food was disappointing, overpriced and I will not be back in a hurry.

This hotel is not worthy of 4 stars. Although clean, the room was very small, outdated decor which was quite depressing looking and room was stuffy. Very noisy air conditioning system which hums all night even when it's off in the room. The bed was extremely hard. Menu mediocre, limited choice if you are vegetarian. Overall the hotel needs a major facelift to brighten it up. Cost of staying at this hotel is very overpriced for what is being offered

Figuring out how to park was the toughest part. Find street parking and then go get the code for the garage next door. The hotel is very nice, it is old so be aware. No one is sneaking up those stairs. LOL! Our room had a double and a twin, and then we had a roll away for our youngest, which was set up already upon our arrival. The room was chilly, and kind of hard to get warm. The view of the Rock was lovely, and it is lit up at night which was really cool. The hotel's restaurant fills up VERY quickly so either make reservations, or get there early. Thankfully for us, they do have room service. They brought everything to our room and it was very nice. The hotel is not well insulated since it is from 1709, so it wasn't quiet. You can hear other people very easily. I used the white noise app on my phone and that helped. Beds were firm, but I so found that all over Ireland. The location of the hotel is ideal for visiting the Rock of Cashel, it is a short drive or a walkable distance. The breakfast that was included the next morning was great, including pancakes for the kids! All in all we were happy with our stay. Thanks!

A great hotel and good value for the quality of room and breakfast.
Most of all the staff were superb both reception staff and servers in the restaurant
We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a fabulous suite , room 401 , under the eaves which was a huge room with fabulous bathroom
The choice at breakfast time was excellent and we enjoyed the silver service rather than the ubiquitous buffet. Food was cooked to order - we really enjoyed a full Irish and Eggs Benedict Royale
Great coffee !
This is the place to stay if you are attending a wedding in the overpriced 5* hotel up the road

This hotel is absolutely great! I have been staying here a few times a year for the past 12 years and you just can’t beat it!

The staff bend over backwards to make you feel welcome. The rooms are clean, spacious and well furnished.

The food is amazing and I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal. The bar/restaurant has a great atmosphere where you get to mix with the friendly locals and other holidaymakers.

Highly recommend that you give this hotel a go!

Possibly the worst meal I’ve ever had. The chicken wings were an absolute disgrace how on gods earth can you hand chewy hard frozen chicken wings to someone and charge €10. The standard of food here has gone down drastically in recent times I actually don’t know what’s going on. Such a shame as before Covid we enjoyed coming here. We won’t be back. Wouldn’t recommend

Great location in the centre of town. Old building with plenty of character.
Bar /restaurant was lively and busy. Enjoyed the food, good service and ambience.
Good breakfast, pleasant waitress service.
Room was fine, all amenities to high standard.
One negative.....the room overlooked an apartment block, very close by so had to keep blinds down for most of the stay.
Overall, very adequate for a one night stop over.

I agree the staff was wonderful here. I didn't see any pets, but that's not to say the don't allow them. There isn't any greenspace close to the hotel for taking the dog out however.

Do you have a guest laundry or provide a laundry service? Alternatively, is there a laundromat in Cashel?
Answer from Jim T
Toronto, Ontario, Canada34 contributions10 helpful votes
We were travelling with a Cycling Team and used the local laundromat for their gear. You should know the laundromats do not open late and close around 5:00 or 6:00 pm. If there is a real need, Baileys may be able to accommodate requests but will first refer you to the local services.
