Detailed Reviews
What can I say, everything about our stay hit the spot. The staff were the main selling point however so unbelievably friendly and accommodating.
The room had all the facilities we needed, the wee oven was a cracking wee job and the shower was lovely and powerful. The pub has a rustic charm and is a proper pub, no airs or graces just a great pint of the black stuff and lovely home cooking.
We had muscles as a starter and then two steaks for main. They were tender, well priced and delicious. A bit of Russian roulette with the sides but they had every conceivable accompaniment.
Couldn't ask for a better stay would highly recommend and will no doubt be back in the future!
My only regret is that I can't remember all the staff's names but they were all fantastic

We found this little place on trip advisor and were thrilled we did! The definition of quality food in a lovely environment. Keanes is a couple of Kms outside kilkee but so was our b&b so it was actually very close to us cross country!! There were 3 of us and perhaps 20 others for food. It was very well spread out between the little bar and restaurant area. This place is a true gem- a real country pub with all its charm preserved. We were served by 2 friendly ladies who couldn’t do enough for us. They were clearly happy and content working which is always a great sign. The food was delicious and the menu was lovely and extremely reasonably priced. All infection control guidelines were in place but it was so laid back and comfortable you would forget about the world of covid!! We will definately be returning in the near future- many thanks for such great hospitality. It’s great to see such lovely places still existing

Great food, welcoming, great location. Kilkee is a hidden gem for the west of ireland. This place made the trip even more special. Fantastic place to stop off on the way to loop head and if travelling north again. Worth the visit.

Decided we had to stay here from its website. A quirky family run establishment with a pub, shop, b and b and restaurant - my curiousity got the better of me.
Initially thought a similarly named B and B in the village of Kilkee was this but a phonecall sent me in the right direction (N.b. this is place is a couple of Km outside the village)
We were greeted warmly and shown to our cool self contained apartment with a jacuzzi bath, fridge, tv etc. really impressive.
A couple of drinks followed by dinner in the restaurant was the next step. The food was of a high standard and prepared fresh by the owner before being brought to the table by his daughter.
The accommodation price was average for the area but the food prices were a little on the high side. I can imagine the unpredictable nature of the business and the extensive menu warrants that costs must be covered as there must be huge wastage when demand is low. unfortunately these costs have to be passed on.
Overall a really pleasant stay in a highly professional family run establishment. would recommend.

There's nothing bad about Keane's and in fact it is charming in a kind of weird way. However, reading the incredibly effusive and gushing reviews I am utterly at a loss as to why we did not receive the 'outstanding 5 star food' nor the 'amazing' welcome from the family (although Imelda, non-family, was particularly delightful). Bar being asked what we wanted for breakfast, there was virtually no communication from the family members, to the point of rudeness. We really felt like we had done something wrong???
On the plus side, the accommodation is spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was first class especially the porridge and no problem getting an extra egg. Reading about the 'steak cooked by Michael ...the best I have ever had' previous TA review, we went off deal and ordered said steak. It was a fine steak but that reviewer really needs to get out more. On the plate was a steak + fried onions + 3 mushrooms + one cheesy cauliflower-ette + quarter tomato + half a baby potato + two scoops of mashed potato + 5 potato wedges + a quarter slice of an orange (?). The busiest plate I have ever seen but there was more to come: chips + gratin potatoes + onion rings + dish of mixed veg + pepper sauce. The wine in the deal was very good.
As for: 'Bar atmoshpere [sic] was top notch and a genuine Irish setting with friendly locals and tourists mingling together enjoying the craic. World class service' This has to be a wind up!!! One friendly local and two tourists (us) and an owner who utterly ignored us to the point of standing with her back to us. Downright extraordinary!! We must have caught her on a bad weekend.
I would recommend for the sleeping accommodation, the wifi, the bar, the breakfast, the wine, value for money and if you like going to church, the location and try not to take it personally if you are ignored

Stayed at keanes July 2013. Best place we stayed in Ireland. Highly reccomend and our fresh dinner cooked by the owner was amazing! Bar atmoshpere was top notch and a genuine Irish setting with friendly locals and tourists mingling together enjoying the craic. World class service and an excellent location just outside of Kilkee. Would go back and want to go back asap!

My wife and I stayed here late last October/November. The owners couldn't have been nicer and more welcoming. The accommodation and food were both excellent. The bar with it's turf fire and friendly locals was just like a touch of the real old Ireland I remember from my youth. The location is perfect, away from the crowds and yet within minutes of Kilkee, Kilrush, Doonbeg, etc.
We would both highly recommend Keane's.

We have just stayed at Mikes Oyster bar. We have had three days with Mikes family and they have been great. We stayed in the bar by the open fire eating Mikes excellent home cooked food chatting to the locals(Cyril was great). We were given fantastic imformation onwhere to go for walks, shopping and golf courses. Bridies full breakfast was great and even though we got a cheap deal on Groupon we love this place. If you want good food and good Irish hospitality
give Keanes a go.
We may see you there as we will go back
