Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There are ample areas to park nearby and the charming streets are great for a walk before or after dinner. The beach is just around the corner but the dining room view is blocked by hedges. The curry is a touch sweet but generously portioned. The rest of our meals were filling but similarly lacking seasoning. Still we did enjoy a warm, relaxed dinner in a cozy (somewhat rumpled/scruffy) setting that has an authentic charm. We did not stay the night at the hotel but it looked welcoming.

A truly outstanding experience. The food was excellent and even though it was busy we were fully accommodated. Although under pressure as it was a hectic period all staff were exemplary! Highly recommended.

We just had a wonderful trip to Kilkee - originally planned to stay two nights but extended to four as we were enjoying it so much. The hotel is all you could ask for- location right beside the beach, lovely friendly staff, delicious food , very comfortable and quiet rooms. The weather topped it all off and we were very reluctant to leave. Clare hospitality at its best. Thank you to Martin Ann & excellent staff. We will be back!

I’m just back from a wonderful week in Kilkee, hosted by the lovely folk at the Stella Maris. We were a group of 20 geoscientists studying the awesome cliffs and coastal sections along the Loop Head peninsula, and we all had a great time staying at the hotel. The Stella is run by Ann and her husband and a team of fantastic staff, all of whom are so welcoming, friendly, helpful and hospitable, which made our stay really enjoyable. The hotel is right in the centre of Kilkee town (with its stunning beach and cliff-top walks). The breakfasts are delicious and the evening meals in the inviting bar and restaurant are superb, with lots of choice and much delicious seafood on the menu. Finish off your day with a pint of Guinness and a chat at the bar after taking in all the amazing scenery that the area has to offer. I really recommend a stay at the Stella Maris, you won’t be disappointed!

I stayed at the Stella Maris on a work trip with a large group. The staff at Stella Maris couldn’t be more accommodating of us and we all had a fabulous stay. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and I slept very well on every night of my week-long stay. The food served in the restaurant was great - plenty of variety and all of very high quality. The kitchen dealt extremely well with our big group of 20 with great food and quick service. The pub also has a great vibe and even had some local spirits which we all enjoyed. Thank you to all the staff at the Stella Maris - fabulous stay had by all and we hope to be back soon!

Atrocious service. Waited 40 minutes for food to arrive and we were the only patrons. Asked halfway for the kids meals to be delivered early... still took further 20 minutes for chips and sausages and one toasted sandwich to arrive and in the end the sandwich was still raw inside. To add insult to injury, management slow to apologise. Never going there again.

From the outside it looks like an old time traditional seaside hotel. Once inside, it still feels traditional. It has an outside dining area, which is brilliant in the sunshine. Our room was bright, modern and spotless with a large ensuite shower. Martin the owner is a great host and his staff are excellent.
