I have just returned from this fabulous place and one of the things that stand out is the staff. Im convinced they have had extra customer care training . From start to finish they remained professional, courteous, polite and so friendly they are a credit !!

I stayed in a Courtyard room (54) its a great sized room with a very comfortable four poster bed and good sized bathroom with addidional space outside at the rear with a table and two chairs in the courtyard area which I thought was a nice touch. Note**Let the shower run for a few minutes it takes a while for the hot water to come through ** A three min walk from your room in the courtyard through the hotel will take you to the bar. You can also park right at the front of your accommodation so handy.

We ate in both the bar area and the restaurant and both times food and service was great. Our dinner on the 2nd night was included in the price and it was a five course meal in the restaurant . We were served by a very delightful funny member of staff ( sorry I didnt get her name) . Dinner is at either 7pm or 9pm please make sure you book beforehand it can be very busy.

Dun na Ri Forest is close by and worth a visit. If you're walking make sure you turn right at the bottom of the lane its across the road ( you will see a barrier just push it open) dont turn left as we did that will take you
along a very dangerous road no pathway and some dodgy corners which will bring you to the front entrance of the park.

As far as Covid is concerned this Hotel is following protocol very seriously. Sanitser hand stations throughout. The wearing of masks compulsory . I felt very safe and had no reservations at all.

I will be back .😍..Im going to ask for a room in the castle next time just for curiosity reasons didnt realise you could stay in the castle as its not advertised online.

Highly recommend ...give it ago👍

Thank you for your positive feedback, its always great to receive such a glowing report. Its a very strange time for everyone but our staff have been very obliging and active in following all necessary guidelines and adhering to safety protocols. Our guests and staff safety is and has always been a priority. Our teams' effort has been amazing and I will ensure that they are made aware of your review so that they will know all is worthwhile and doesn't go un-noticed. We are very fortunate to be in a location with such beautiful surroundings. Dun na ri is a mere 500 yards away but for those who don't want to venture onto the busy roads, a shorter 1.5km wooded walkway is on our grounds, We hope to re-welcome you in the near future.

Just spent a fabulous weekend at Cabra Castle and from start to finish my husband daughter and I loved the whole experience. The bedroom was outstanding and as a family room we had so much space that it felt like home. We ate both evenings in the bar and the staff were very attentive and the food was delicious as was breakfast. On the Saturday evening while sitting in a nook near reception the lovely receptionist arranged for me to be served a pot of tea compliments of the hotel and offered my daughter a cold mineral. The decor of the hotel was beautiful and we loved the quirkinesses of the stairways and the corridors and the grandeur of the chandeliers. Today before we left we had the opportunity to meet Oscar the Irish Wolfhound and Lucy the Chocolate Lab which delighted my daughter. We look forward to returning to Cabra Castle for another weekend.

Your positive feedback is much appreciated and I'm delighted you and your family enjoyed your stay with us. Oscar and Lucy always enjoy the attention they receive and we love to see the look of delight and awe on children's faces when they see the sheer size of Oscar. I will convey your gratitude to our staff. We look forward to re-welcoming you in the near future. With much renovation work on going at the moment, you'll have plenty of new places to explore when next you visit.

This was our first visit back to Cabra since our wedding in November 2019 and we were interested to see how things were since Covid 19. We needn't have worried. Our room was fabulous as usual and they have done an amazing job at making guests feel safe and as welcome as ever.
There are hand sanitisers strategically placed around the building and the serving team are all wearing masks and keeping to a social distance. It must be extremely difficult trying to keep everyone safe as well as their actual job but they're still all doing so with a smile and the usual friendly chat we have come to love during our numerous visits to Cabra. The team really take pride in what they do at every level.
We were blessed with the weather and spent a lot of time on the terrace in the sunshine. Just glorious. with comfy seating, nicely spread out tables.. We ate dinner one day and lunch the next in the Derby restaurant and drinks both nights. if I had one comment it would be that the menu in the Derby could do with a bit of a freshen up and I'd agree with another comment that the courtyard room where breakfast is served would benefit from the windows being opened for ventilation but easily rectified.
All in all another lovely visit and looking forward to coming back again.

Thank you for such a positive review and for recognising the efforts of our team in keeping our staff and customers alike safe during these difficult times. You were lucky indeed to have been at Cabra castle while the sun was shining - there is no place more idyllic than the Terrace patio to enjoy a little rest and relaxation away from the hustle & Bustle of everyday life. It can at times (when the sun arrives) feel like sitting on a sun soaked patio in the Mediterranean or other such destination. Ii take note of the comments re ventilation and will ensure this issue is addressed. We look forward to welcoming you both for many anniversaries and special Occasions to come. On behalf of us all "Congratulations on your first married year".

Luxury, character, class and a very was welcome when you visit the wonderful Cabra Castle.

A 2 nights break gave the opportunity to visit this wonderful hotel/castle which has maintained a sense of class with the decor, ambience and calming atmosphere.

A warm greeting in reception and Covid protocols clearly in place and although busy on the first day it was a smooth and pleasant check in.

The room we got was in the courtyard and I was blown away by the room. Huge in size at least 30 feet by 20 feet it contained a slipper bath, a four poster bed, a chaise longue and more and still felt spacious. The view over the courtyard with a tree providing privacy makes you feel that you could be one of only a few guests.

The courtyard rooms are at the back of the main castle but don't let that worry you, you get to enjoy the maze of the corridors after you wind back to your room after lovely food whether that be in the restaurant or the bar.

We did a night in both and the service and food is of a very high standard in both locations. The only criticism was that I was simply filled to the brim with the portions provided.

Breakfast is equally as good and with a mix of table and self service buffet with quality ingredients this is a place to be spoiled.

The staff are a credit to the location and have to say everyone I met was positive, particularly when the hospitality industry can be fatigued with Covid and all it brings.

All I can say this has to be one of the most wonderful castle trips I have ever enjoyed. I am hesitant to say to anyone in the area you must visit simply for my own selfish indulgence that I would love to return and enjoy this location over and over again.

I came away feeling relaxed, refreshed and that was after full days of visits to the local tourist spots that you have to pack in.

The owners, management and staff all deserve to be recognised for the service and hospitality they provide to their guests

Thaank you ever so much for your your very positive feedback. It’s always very welcomed to receive such. I’m delighted you enjoyed our accommodation. The majority of our rooms have been renovated in the past few years, each individually appointed and their own character enhanced. As an authentic, family owned and run, 18th century castle, every effort has been made to ensure all the modern comforts are combined with the old world charm of the castle. Thank you for your appreciation and recommendations. We look forward to welcoming you back soon or as soon as Covid restrictions allow! In the meantime wishing you and your family safe passage through these difficult times.

This is a fabulous hotel. The room was spacious and comfortable; the food was great; the staff were attentive, friendly and highly trained; the location is so relaxing and the hotel itself is full of evocative little corridors, staircases, portraits, antiques, suits of armour and drawing rooms. Usually my wife and I take City Breaks for our wedding anniversaries but, thanks to COVID, and relaxing beside various fires in Cabra Castle, we will be taking Sitty Breaks from now on.

A cold afternoon, a warm fire place and a lovely hot beverage, all on offer at Cabra castle.. I’m delighted you chose to celebrate with us and better still delighted to hear you are now considering relaxing breaks ( hopefully at Cabra) rather than city hotel breaks. We all need an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life from time to time and there’s no place better than Cabra castle, strolling the expansive 100 acres of grounds and exploring our many nooks and crannies in which to do so. Covid19 and all the restrictions have been a very difficult time for many, however a greater appreciation of the little things in life is one of the few good things to come from this slower pace of life. We look forward to rewelcoming you to cabra castle soon.

Stayed for one night B&B - staff were all very friendly and our room in the courtyard was large with a bath in the bedroom area and a walk in shower in the bathroom. We ate in the bar, prices were reasonable and food and service good. Useful to be able to park nearby, grounds are pretty and January is a perfect time to visit as it was very quiet.

Cabra castle was a wonderfully picturesque hotel set in stunning grounds. The hotel itself was beautiful with lots of quirky corridors and rooms filled with oldy worldly items. We stayed in a courtyard room (94) which had a freestanding bath. Overall room was quite clean (a few cobwebs around the windows and lights) and comfortable however it had quite small windows and few of them meaning it was uncomfortably warm which made it hard to sleep. We also discovered the radiator was on full for some reason, even with it off it was still very hot, AC or a fan would definitely be a bonus ! The food in the restaurant was second to none, all 5 courses of it ! We had breakfast delivered to our room on 2 mornings which was also very tasty, there were a few items missing each time that we had requested but overall very good. The staff were friendly however the service was the worst I’ve had in a long time. Each time we were seated in the bar we waited a minimum of 30 minutes for our first drink. On our last night we ordered a bottle of €90 champagne which we waited 40 minutes for. After 20 minutes my fiancé went to the bar to complain and they said they hadn’t got the order on the system. We waited another 20 minutes for it to arrive and when it did it was in an ice bucket filled with water as it had been sitting so long all the ice had melted. I appreciate that during covid the hotel has been closed and they are still finding their feet however I feel more staff or Atleast more experienced ones are needed in order to cater for the needs of the guests. I had mentioned when booking that it was our anniversary and we were looking at the castle as our wedding venue, this was acknowledged verbally by staff on two different occasions however there was no good will gesture received. I expected more from the hotel after reading such good reviews and I was disappointed that we didn’t have the same experience as other guests. All in all a nice hotel but i don’t think we would visit again and will certainly be crossing it off our list as a wedding venue.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay and provide feedback. I am happy to hear the majority of your stay was pleasant and apologize that the service in the Bar was not up to our usual standard. Unfortunately, the pandemic has had a significant impact on the hospitality industry in general. Due to prolonged closures, many experienced staff have chosen to seek alternative employment in different sectors. As a result, the recruitment of staff with relevant experience has become increasingly difficult. A program of ongoing training is in place at Cabra castle and we are doing our utmost to ensure all new staff are trained as quickly as possible. The unpredictable nature of the Irish weather has also made staffing for outdoor dining difficult meaning on some occasions when rain is forecast but doesn't materialise, we have been understaffed. Cabra castle is renowned as an idyllic venue to host a wedding reception. Our team are extremely professional with many members of banqueting staff in place over 10 years. I am disappointed to read that based on disappointing service in the bar, although other aspects of your stay were very good, you would dismiss Cabra castle as a wedding venue. I hope you may reconsider. Our banqueting team are always on hand to provide excellent service and answer any queries you may have.

Just back from a superb overnight stay to mark a special birthday. From start to finish Cabra Castle excels; the staff, the location, the room, public areas and hygiene.
This IS a castle on 100 acres of grounds which looked splendid in Autumnal colours. There are rooms in the castle, in the courtyard adjacent and in lodges. In general there is a lovely cosiness wherever one goes.
The staff are genuinely helpful and friendly no matter how busy they were. I watched as some ladies had Afternoon Tea, there was genuine concern that they were comfortable and enjoying themselves especially the lady with mobility needs. We had food in the bar it was very tasty and arrived promotly. I thought perhaps a tad on the expensive side. Breakfast was cooked to order and was lovely, there was a very good choice as well.
In these Covid times there is no need to worry, protocols are strictly enforced and anywhere we visited was spotless.
Do not be put off by comments here about old furniture, this is an 18th Century Castle so the furniture is appropriate to the setting Similarly complaints about not being able to check in before 4pm. It's made very clear in correspondence that this is to allow for extra cleaning of the rooms. Covid protocols apply to everyone even those from North America.
Go enjoy, chill out and relax in lovely surroundings.

Thank you for your wonderful review.. We cant get much better than 11 out of 10 :) It is great to hear that our staff went above and beyond as always to ensure our guests comfort and enjoyment of their experience. We are very fortunate indeed to have such a wonderful crew working with us. At Cabra castle, we are adhering to all covid19 protocols and advice. this is something that we feel very strongly about and understand the importance of keeping both our guests and staff safe above all, albeit in a discreet a manner as possible. If you decide to return to us again, please make sure you have the opportunity to walk through Dun Na ri forest park - a national park located only 500m from our main entrance. For those that love the countryside it is filled with beautiful old trees, nature walks, plenty of wildlife and fauna to explore. We look forward to welcoming you again soon. in the meantime, continued good health to you and your loved ones.

Absolutely enjoyed our 2 night stay in Cabra castle. The decor was fabulous with lots of interesting nooks and crannies to explore. I loved the authentic atmosphere and the gorgeous Irish wolfhounds who wandered around the castle grounds. We stayed in the courtyard room 56 which was stunning however slightly disappointed that there was no bath. However our room had a balcony which opened onto Karl's garden complete with Cyprus trees and statues. Our room was incredibly comfortable and a very generous size.
We ate dinner in the dining room on one evening and everything was delicious, the ambience of the dining room added to our experience. The waitress even had our dessert plates decorated with congratulations for our wedding anniversary.
We also ate in the bar on another evening and the food was also to a high standard, generous portions and reasonably priced.
We enjoyed the stunning views of the castle particularly at night when it was all lit up. We played chess in the castle gardens in the evening while the resident Irish wolfhounds wandered around the gardens. It was magical !
Finally, I would like to say a special word of thanks to the staff of the castle who worked so hard to provide a very high standard of care and attention. Every staff member from the waiting staff, the bar staff, the cleaning staff to the front of house staff were so friendly, efficient and cheerful and it really made our stay a very memorable one. I look forward to returning to Cabra castle in the future.

From the moment we arrived at the hotel, we were extremely impressed with the fantastic service as well as the lovely ambiance. My sister and I were treating our mother to a weekend away for her birthday and chose Cabra Castle as it was equidistant from where we both live.
We booked two nights bed and breakfast, one evening meal and afternoon tea on the day we arrived. The rooms were lovely, sparkling clean and the beds were very comfortable. The afternoon tea was lovely and our server was so friendly as well as having a fantastic singing voice when she and another member of staff sang Happy Birthday to Mum.
Breakfast on both mornings were superb and as breakfast is usually the last thing a guest has before they leave it is the most important meal to get right (something many other hotels don't seem to understand).
The meal we had on the Sunday evening was delicious, everything was very tasty and well presented, and again the staff were super friendly. I also spent a few hours in one of the drawing rooms on the first floor as I had some studying to do and it was comfortable and perfect for what I needed.
I am an ex hotel manager so I have incredibly high standards and expectations and I have to say they they were met and exceeded on every level by this hotel and a special thank you to all the excellently trained but also genuinely friendly staff.
Well Done and we will be back!!
The only thing (and it is a very minor thing) that I think the hotel needs to work on is their social media engagement, I Tweeted several times about how great it was and tagged the hotel but there was no liking or retweeting which is Twitter 101.
