It was all very good! Nothing to complain about the place. Fantastic location on a quiet and serene resort. Both the room and bathroom are roomy, tidy, and clean. I had no trouble falling asleep because the bed was so comfortable. The staff is really kind and accommodating, always willing to assist you. It was a fantastic time! Many thanks to the entire crew for a fantastic experience! Can't wait to go back ☺️ see you next time! 💙

This place is like paradise for couples who want to literally disconnect from the daily grind of city life and carve out their own exclusive nest.

It's clean, peaceful and the view is panoramic.

The staff are very welcoming and helpful.

Blue Crystal is the perfect getaway for couples!

Lovely to return to one of my favourite hotels in the Philippines.I love the location of Blue Crystal; away from all the hustle and bustle of Sabang and Puerto Galera. The friendly, helpful staff are still working at the resort and worked hard to make my stay a very pleasant one. I look forward to returning again in the not too distant future.

We went to Blue Crystal last May 15th and 16th. I was with my husband and my team (from a BPO Company). In total I have 10 people with me.

Before I booked the rooms I have read the reviews for Blue Crystal and visited their site multiple times. I have high expectations. Me and my team agreed that we don't need the populated area of White Beach however we somehow talked about visiting it if we have the time and if the weather is good.

We occupied 2 rooms - 1 room for me and my husband (Room 4 Deluxe Suite) and 1 room for the rest of my team (Room 7 Family Suite; I have 9 agents with me).

Below is my experience with Blue Crystal:

Good points:
 The staff are nice. They have ready smiles for the guests and very accommodating.
 The resort is really peaceful and quiet. It offers total rest and relaxation especially if one wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
 The food taste good.
 I did not experience the mosquitoes/insects in the room (indicated on some of the reviews here), which is good. Anyway, they have a ready insect repellant in case it's needed.

Needs Improvement:
 I was under the impression that I have reserved 3 rooms in total – 2 Family Suites and 1 Deluxe Suite. But when we get there, all of my 9 people were put in one room. Although they fit (and I think they had fun staying in one room) it was not my ideal set up. It’s hard to schedule who will use the toilet and bathroom and when. I was not surprised if they had little fights when one is hogging the bathroom/toilet. I have specifically sent a confirmation about this because I really want to make sure that my team is comfortable. When they were put in one room, I was thinking probably the resort is fully booked. The next day I realized that the one beside my team's room is vacant!
 Both rooms don’t have a telephone. When we needed something I have to walk to reception and ask for it. Or walk to my team's room to check on them (their room is really far from mine). I even used my mobile to call them just to check if they need anything. By the way, Sun Cellular's reception is not really good in the resort. The signal is weak.
 Room 4’s toilet is clogged and it takes time to flush whatever is in there. There’s also no dipper (tabo) nor a bidet for washing. I tried to use the shower but there’s no water. So imagine how and where I washed after using the toilet. The sink is also far from the toliet bowl so if one needs water one has to use a pail and fill it water and bring it near the toilet (the pail and tabo were only provided after I complained). Trash can should also be placed inside the bathroom. There’s one in the kitchen but none in the bathroom.
 Both rooms lost AC at around 12mn until 4:30am. We were able to use our AC (Room 4) because we changed the outlet. Room 7 got no AC for 4 or so hours.
 The food is a bit costly. Some are fairly priced but the rest, they required us to really think multiple times if we will eat or not.
 The ACs should also be placed at the highest point of the room, it should not be beside the bed or the same level as the bed.
 The Wi-Fi signal doesn’t reach the rooms. We were able to use it if we are very near the reception.
 Reception is only manned in certain hours. Shouldn’t it be 24/7? When we got back after visiting White Beach (around 4am) no one is at the reception so when we realized that our ACs are not working we don’t know what to do or who to call.
 I was not told that there’s a fee for a multicab to bring us in the resort and back to Batangas port. With our limited budget, every cent is tracked and accounted for.
 The billing system is really confusing. I had a hard time understanding it, considering I work in the billing section as a supervisor.
 I am not really concerned that the TV is not modern but my husband mentioned that the TV is too small and old (I think about 12", not flat screen).
 The resort is a bit dark at night. I needed to visit my people in their room (since there is no phone) and check how they are doing and to do this I have to drag my husband to join me and walk with me. The flashlight provided in our room is not working. It would light but after a couple of minutes it will suddenly turn off.

I have sent this same feedback but I haven't heard anything from them. I know it was a Saturday when I sent them this, but hey I did my booking confirmation during the weekends. Mind you, I did not receive any error in sending it (I should have probably activated the option to alert me once the mail has been read).

Overall, I think I'm not going back on this resort.

I went there with my wife during the labor day long weekend to celebrate our anniversary.

It was probably because of my last minute booking why we ended up there. The place looks exactly what was shown in their fb page. The facilities looks good and the place has a good ambience. The people were very accomodating especially ms. Roselyn. However, I believe that there are lot of things they need to improve.

It is a very far and kinda secluded place. (not their fault though) If you are for the famous beaches of puerto gallera and the "nightlife" this isnt the place for you. The place is very far to the white beach. If you want to go to the white beach you need to hire their tricycle/multicab. Its a bit pricey though. 200 one way. Another setback is when we are about to sleep on our first day, there are still people singing at the videoke besides our room. This was supposed to be a quiet vacation for us but unfortunately it wasnt. The water pressure is very weak as well. We have experience not just once but twice of water and electricity shortage. To compensate for the lack of water their personnel provided us buckets of water for us to freshened up and they do have generator unfortunately it isnt enough to power up the AC.
Food is very pricey as well. With regards to the taste, it taste like an ordinary home cooked meal for me. And also you cant swim in the beach front. Too many stones and corals. I have wounds to prove that.

To summarize

Pros
People are accomodating
Place looks same as the fb page
Booking is easy
There is a pool for us to enjoy
They compensate with efforts every time there is a problem
Good landscaping

Cons
Food is pricey
Nothing so special about the food
Too far from the activities if you are looking for it.
200 pesos tricycle fare to go to the white beach.
Water and electricity service needs improvement.
AC positioning should be placed higher.
Cant swim in the beach.
According to the tricycle driver there is additional charge when you hire him at night.
extra 50. (kindly check on that management) I didn't give him any though.
Wifi has poor signal as well. It only works once you on the wifi then it will cease to refresh.

Overall if you are for a quiet vacation away from the nightlife and the white beaches of gallera, this could be the place for you. That's if you can tolerate all my concerns.

To the management:
I appreciate the warm welcome and accommodation but please address some of your resorts problems so that people can enjoy more.

Thanks!

We stayed at Blue Crystal Resort for 4 nights in May 2012 - a really lovely place, quiet, tranquil, beautiful - just the place to relax and wind down after the stifling humidity and pollution of Manila. The bay has very clean water and you can snorkel off the landing at the hotel - not spectacular snorkeling but easy. The hotel is great - very nice friendly and accommodating staff, good food and the rooms are comfortable and clean. The water pressure could be better but only a minor annoyance. So if you want nothing else but to chill out and recharge this is the place.

This was the first time I've gone to Puerto Galera and didn't know what to expect. To get there from the port of Batangas, you'd have to ride a "Motorized Bangka" to "Muelle" Pier at Puerto Galera. It took about an hour or so, but I guess it depends on the bangka that you are going to ride. Please do not make the mistake of choosing the Father N Son "Penguins" (Yellow and blue boats) because they tend to fill the boat with passengers before they leave the port. It took us a good 30-40 mins of waiting on the bangka before they decided it was almost overloaded. To top it off, the boat driver didn't seem to know what he was doing, so I admit got a little paranoid. When we got to the "Muelle" Pier, we were greeted by (I guess) one of the porters of the resort, since we arranged a pick-up from the pier. We waited about 5 mins. for the "Multi-Cab" to pick us up, but from the "Muelle" pier, it just took about 10-13 minutes of narrow, winding roads to get to the resort.

Upon entering the resort, we were greeted by Roselyn, one of the more friendly and reliable staff here at Blue Crystal. We signed in and we were quickly escorted to our room. It has a nice facade with double doors and a small veranda. Upon entering the room, you will be able to see the minimal, but rustic decor that makes you feel right at home. It has two lamps beside the bed and opposite the bed would be the big dresser and mirror. Beside the dresser, there is an armoire which houses the mini refrigerator and on top of that is a 21" TV which has cable. The room also has a walk-in closet where you can find an electronic safe to house your valuables. The bathroom has a pretty big tub which doubles as the shower area, wall to wall mirrors, sink and toilet. I have no complaints at how clean the room was when we arrived. It was well-kept and smelled fresh. The position of the A/C could've been better because it was directly beside the bed which froze my brain cells every night.

There were some things that I didn't particularly like about this place and the first of which is the beach. Since the area is like a cove, a lot of the trash and debris wash up on the shore. I don't seem to recall anyone picking up the trash and discarding it properly. Deadwood and trash are scattered all over this stretch of beach (even in the other resorts next to this) and now one seems to care. If you are looking for sand, you'd be very disappointed. The beach itself is rocky and more so underwater. You'd better be prepared and bring along some really sturdy aqua socks if you don't want your feet to get a nasty cut.

The staff here is very friendly. They always greet you with a smile and a warm "Good Morning, [afternoon, or evening]." However, a few staff members still need to be trained a little more because I sometimes felt that I was overlooked a couple of times. One of which was when I asked for an extra pillow and was not given one until we asked for it again the next day [but they redeemed themselves when they gave us 2 instead of only one]. Another incident was when I asked housekeeping to "make the room" and they forgot to take the trash bag from the counter after they removed it from the trash can. Of course, these are very minimal slip-ups that could have been avoided.

Security here is non-existent since there are no security guards and the gates of the property are made of bamboo which can be easily pushed by anyone who wants to come in/out.

Now, there were 3 things that bothered me the most. One was the supply of hot water. There isn't enough hot water when you want it. They explained to me that there was a limited supply of about 100 gallons [give or take] and if a guest decides to fill the tub, everyone else will have to wait 40 minutes for the water to heat up again. So, you don't really have hot water when you need it [unless you have ESP or some special ability to sense when someone is not using it].

Next, don't you just hate it when you're on vacation... sleeping... when suddenly you are woken up by the sounds of screaming children in the morning or drunk people at night?! I know it's a resort (and there are other people there), but I'm there to relax and sleep as much as I want. I don't want to be bothered by inconsiderate, ill-bred bunch of yahoos who think that they are the only people left on earth. It should be the responsibility of the resort to tell these Neanderthals to keep the noise to a minimum so as not to bother the other guests [but sadly, NOT].

Lastly, and probably the biggest of my gripes... was the food. I'm very picky about food and the resort had a restaurant that served all kinds of different dishes such as Filipino, American, Italian, etc. [which costs a WHOPPING P190-P350/serving and P25/8 oz. soda]. The resort provides a complimentary breakfast of your choice. There are several different dishes to choose from, but I always ordered the Filipino Breakfast because I like the "si-log" in the morning. However, it wasn't until the second breakfast that we noticed that there were some missing elements from our breakfast. For example: "Tapsilog" (Beef tapa, garlic rice, egg) with coffee and fruit/fruit juice [they would only serve the tapsilog and the coffee NOT the fruit/juice]. It was only on the last day (and after reading the menu carefully and pointing it out to the server) that we got the complete set. Don't they know what's supposed to go with what?! Yes, it is complimentary (or maybe it's part of what you paid for), but at least the people in the kitchen/restaurant should know that the order is not complete and should not serve it out until it is. The food is insanely expensive, the portions are too small [except for the pancit bihon which was delicious and reasonable at P190] and the preparation is comparable to a low-end restaurant in Manila. Honestly, I wouldn't pay P100 for that breakfast [which actually costs P250]. I wish they would do something about this, so that the guests wouldn't have to leave the resort to eat elsewhere [like we did].

For those of you who are adventurous and are trying to save a few pesos, there is an inexpensive place in town called "Chow Queen." It's not exactly 5-star quality food, but it's not a 5-star price for a 1-star meal.

Another tip:
On the way home, we got the "Brian" Bangka which was scheduled to arrive/depart at 5:30PM but was delayed for almost 2 hours. So we actually left White beach at 7:20PM. I suggest you try to get some other "Bangkas" (other than the ones we got) if you don't want your vacation to be ruined.

Pros: Staff is super friendly. Nice patios in most suites. Secluded. Good cable TV.

Cons: Rooms are shabby and need upgrading. Water pressure is unreliable during the day. No beach only a rocky shoreline. All restaurants and bars are located in Sabang or Puerto Galera necessitating the use of wheeled transportation therefore guests are dependent on either rented scooters or the "tricycle mafia" that controls the local transportation. You could walk but each town is about 1/2 hour on foot and there are no shoulders on the roads. Breakfast at the hotel is below average. Large of number mosquitoes in the rooms so it would probably be recommended that you bring a net if you don't want to wake up every morning with bits all over your legs.

Not sure why anyone would want to stay more than one day at the Blue Crystal. We made a mistake choosing it as we should have stayed in Sabang for about the same money. Everything is there anyways and you wouldn't need wheeled transport to go home in the evening.

Speaking about Sabang, if you are not into heavy drinking (drinks are very cheap and it is evident by the number of drunk foreigners warming bar stools), scuba diving or paying for the company of local girls, you are probably in the wrong place.

We deeply appreciate the comments guests give, since they greatly help us improve our service. There are however some question marks regarding this review. We indeed had two rooms occupied by guests from Canada. These guests were very positive, stayed for six nights, and wrote warm comments in our guest book. Their review is below in Tripadvisor.com. Assuming that there might be a mistake in the date mentioned, we gladly reply. All guests that have sent reviews so far to Tripadvisor.com rated our rooms good to very positive. In this review our rooms are called “shabby”. If details had been mentioned, we would have taken immediate action to make changes and comply with the wishes of our guests to the best of our ability. Regrettably, this information is lacking. Our website shows a map with our location as well as our address “Palangan”. Sabang is not mentioned as our location. When we started what has grown into Blue Crystal Beach Resort, we purposely made a choice for a quiet area, off the beaten track, but still easy to reach by road. Some people love the peace and quiet we provide. There are others who love the hustle and bustle of bars, discos, and nightlife. This is of course a matter of taste and choice. We do however not feel responsible for not being located in another area of Puerto Galera. Mindoro is famous for its tropical rainforest and although they are amazing, this beauty comes unfortunately with mosquitoes. For that reason every room is equipped with electrical mosquito killers that do not harm humans, only insects. Although all rooms have air-conditioning, windows are shielded with screens. Blue Crystal Beach Resort cooperates with several transporters that have provided reliable service to our guests over the years. Public transportation is regulated by the local government. If the term “tricycle Mafia” is a reflection on certain experiences, it is regrettable that this is used in this review of Blue Crystal Beach Resort. We do our all we can to provide the best possible service, but have to admit that we have no control over the experiences of our guests outside the resort. Due to La Nina, during the first months of this year, rainfall has been unseasonably low. This has affected the water supply and water pressure in Puerto Galera. The problem was however resolved by the typhoon during the first part of May. The review seems to suggest that a stay in Sabang would have been a much better option; however this is contradicted in no uncertain terms in the final sentences. In conclusion, we are deeply concerned when our guests do not feel a little happier upon check out than when they arrived. Judging from the review, we failed to reach this goal. It is not clear to us who the writer was, but may we suggest that you contact us and we will surely do all we can to make this up to you during your next visit to Puerto Galera, after all as our guest you deserve the best.
