Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Well I’ve had an amazing stay and Alison has been an excellent host. From the moment I arrived to the moment I checked out it felt like a home from home. I stayed here whilst doing my motorcycle test nearby rather than drive 2 hours each way daily. Excellent value, clean and comfortable room and lovely peace and quiet to relax in the evenings. The daily full English breakfast was superb and Alison ensured I was well fed for my daily motorcycle lessons. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Fabulous very rural location in South Devon. Guest accommodation absolutely first class, with guest lounge and separate dining area. All beautifully furnished and fresh. Car park great and host could not have been more welcoming. Breakfast set us up for the day. Have already booked to return.

Room Tip: Down very narrow Devon lanes and not easy to locate at first but well worth it when you do.

We’ve just returned home from a weekend break at Lower Thornton Farm. We had a lovely two night stay. The room was specious. With a well appointed bath and shower. The views are beautiful and the location is very peaceful. Breakfast was nice and the owners dog was very friendly and came to our back door wanting us to play with him. We went to the Seven Stars in Kennford Friday night, food was really nice. The second night we went to the Ley Arms. Again the food was good, however, a little overpriced for some of the dishes and desserts. If you’re looking for somewhere with beautiful views set in a quiet location, I’d highly recommend this place. We shall return!!

We stopped for 2 nights and really enjoyed it. Friendly staff, nice rooms, plenty of peace and quiet,a great breakfast and 2 slightly mad dogs to provide some entertainment. I would also recommend the Ley Arms which is in the nearby village.

We were all set to stay in Topsham then had a change of mind. Glad we did. Lovely accommodation with outstanding views from our room and so peaceful. We stayed for two nights but could easily have stayed longer even though the weather was very cold on our visit it being March. Plenty of places to visit, (or re-visit). Excellent cooked breakfast and also The Ley Arms served good food. Alison helped us with booking our evening meal there on our first evening. Bit far to walk in winter and no other options as far as we could see. Loved their sheep dog. We would recommend.

Lovely stay. The location feels seculuded but is near enough to larger roads for comfortable travel. The suite was large, warm, comfortable and worth the extra money. Host was kind and accommodating and breakfast had a variety of options.

Tranquil location with ample parking. Cosy guest lounge with stunning view over the rolling farm hills. Very comfortable, well appointed bedroom with great view. Thanks to Alison for her friendly and efficient hospitality, and superb farmhouse breakfast. We would highly recommend this venue as a real treat, and will definitely visit again.

Good accommodation but in need of some tlc/updating. Good breakfast, friendly folk, not easiest place to locate, excellent food at the Ley Inn which is close by. Very quiet and peaceful but not the easiest place to find.
