Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We loved our stay at Turnstones B&B. Ian is a most welcoming, friendly helpful host. Our room was beautiful - at the top of the house with a beautiful view across the village to Chessil Cove. The breakfast was delicious and wholesome. Highly recommended!

I stayed at Turnstones with a friend for three nights. Our rooms were delightful and spotless and the views from the bedroom windows were lovely. Ian was a wonderful host – so helpful and welcoming. He gave us lots of information about places to eat and to visit and he makes a very fine breakfast. We couldn't have been more delighted with our stay and will definitely head back again one day.

We stayed at Turnstones for 2 nights as we passed through the Isle of Portland during our hike along the South West Coastal path. The B&B is lovely! Situated on a row of fabulous terraced houses at the top of Fortuneswell, the accommodation is bright and clean and had everything we needed at the end of a long day's hike. Ian looked after us brilliantly, recommending good places to eat in the evenings and cooking us fantastic breakfasts. We would recommend Turnstones to anybody looking to stay in this lovely part of the world.

From the welcome up untill the goodbye all was taken care of and more, just everything you could wish for. The room was just perfect: the interior and decor is very authentic and of great taste and balance: soothing fresh colours, quality furniture and lighting, sheets, pillows, towels, shower and bathroom, water boiler for tea and coffee, all made up and refilled every day. Just as the house and small garden view, the breakfast area also oozes cosiness and tranquility, everything in its place. The calm vibe and tidyness was just what I needed after a long day of intense training or being in the outdoors. The true gems of the B&B though are the hosts, James and his father are both the most humble, charming and helpful beings, from everything you can wish for during breakfast to carrying the suitcases, informing us on dining options or walks or sights to see on the island. Highly recommendable and definitely on my list to return one day!

The B&B was first class. The owners were exceptionally welcoming. Parking was ready and easy to find. The room was spotless and the food delicious. The view over the sea was breath taking. I was attending a sailing event at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy. Every evening I was able to hand over my wet kit to be hung up and dry by the next morning which I really appreciated. Thoroughly recommend.

We booked to stay at Turnstones after family have also had great experiences here, and our stay was no different! From the moment we arrived James was a brilliant, friendly host - the room was very well appointed with a lovely small balcony at the back of the house. Breakfast was also excellent (coming from two people who often find breakfasts at B&Bs/restaurants to be rather underwhelming!). Overall a beautiful property and a great value stay - thank you!
