Clachtoll Beach Campsite is a quiet family run touring caravan and camping site in Sutherland, in the North West of Scotland, 5 miles North of the village of Lochinver. The campsite covers an area of approximately 2.5 Acres and is entirely grass. On arrival visitors are asked to report to the Wardens who will help them to find a suitable site. We have 20 serviced pitches which provide water and Electric hook-ups and to avoid disappointment we now take bookings for our busy times. Toilet and shower facilities, dishwashing sinks, laundry, chemical disposal point and a public telephone are available. Dogs are welcome provided they are kept on a lead at all times on the campsite. This area is renowned for its outstanding natural beauty and spectacular land and seascapes

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Single track road to it- our MH is 7M and was fine as lots of passing places. Wonderful views on the way in and fab beaches when you are there. Lovely welcome and show round by Tom. Very dog friendly with dog treats given over on welcome! Astro turf on the very flat pitches which is great in winter or poor weather/ rain if you have a dog. Lots of extras at this site to use - ie spare dry wellies and coats, levelling ramps, paddle boards and wet suits! Outdoor warm showers for swimmers and outside cold dog shower. A brilliant outside but covered seating area with fire pit that goes on 630-1030pm daily. There is also an outside kitchen where you can bring your food and pans and cook! We opted for the fish and chips as a van is there on Saturdays 4-730pm (10 mins walk away) that were great. In the evening people dropped I. At the fire pit for an hour and brought their own drinks - everyone chatted about they Nc500 trip- just lovely. Showers are functional and ok - the shower block could have done with heating on and do with a makeover and the shower could have been a tad warmer - hence 4/5 stars. That said, will definitely visit again as a lovely quirky site with so many nice little extras

After visiting a few campsites on our NC500 trip this is by far the best we have came across. The level of thought, care and attention that has been put into the site is outstanding. Welcoming host, great facilities, no ask is a bother, and all the little extra touches makes for an excellent stay. I would recommend to anyone visiting this area.

We’ve been motor homing for years and visited this site about 6 years ago. Visited again recently and what a difference, there is nothing you can’t get here and the attention to detail is second to none. To name a few - charging points (ideal for our electric bikes), microwave, free wetsuits and paddle boards, canoes etc, free dog biscuits on arrival and throughout your stay, tea and coffee machine and the list goes on. I often arrive on site and my heart is in my mouth about meeting the wardens - many of whom are unwelcoming and more than a bit “jobs worth”. The people at Clachtoll couldn’t be any further from that - they were so welcoming and throughout our stay stopped to chat to give us local information and background to the development of the site. Oh and I almost forgot that every pitch is Astroturfed which is ideal - our motorhome came home the cleanest ever from a week away. Thanks to the ‘lady owner’ too who stopped to chat every day on the beach after my swim. For info, we were on pitch 18 with a perfect view although there is no “bad view” on this site. If a National training centre was needed for other campsite owners to learn how to run a campsite then Clachtoll you would be it. Thank you everyone at Clachtoll, until next time, take care and have a well earned rest over the winter season. PS check out Clachtoll’s check in and check out times and stay longer if we can accommodate you policy - how civilised is that👌

Just spent 6 nights at Clachtoll beach campsite and we loved it! They really do think of everything!! The facilities were spot on and they even supply body wash and shampoo! Washing up and washers once again the detergents were their gif you to use! There was a little chill out area where you could pick up Wi-Fi if you needed to check in on your emails! And the beach….amazing! The weather wasn’t all that kind to us but we did have one sunny day/night and witnessed a beautiful sunset!! Sadly, we missed seeing the aurora as we fell asleep and apparently it was fab! Will definitely be back! Oh and Andy, thank you for the hot chocolate it made my afternoon 😁

The best campsite we have ever stayed at (and we’ve been to lots) we were met with a warm and friendly welcome and it’s clear the owners want to ensure you have a great time as they have thought of everything, we stayed for 3 nights as part of the NC500 route and didn’t want to leave, the beach and surrounding area is beautiful, we will definitely be returning 😊

We have been camping for many years and I have to say this is the best site we have ever been to bar none!!! From the moment we arrived it was warm, friendly and welcoming. Personal tour of the site and facilities before pitching and we’re allocated a lovely pitch. Has everything you would ever need plus even more. Great toilets and showers Superb washer and dryer Two separate washing up areas Books, games, jigsaws in undercover area to use and borrow Fresh herbs free for use Spare wellies, shoe sets for use Huge array of free to use water-sports equipment including wetsuits, canoes and sup boards for all ages. Beautiful sandy beeches on the doorstep and gear walks nearby. Absolutely loved the communal fire pit and social area all included, great to meet loads of other people and chill out in the evening. Site shop has basic essentials (lovely smoked salmon!), and a great selection of hand crafted items. Flossies small shop 2 minute walk and had everything including lovely cakes. Don’t miss Catch Toll fish and chips either!!!

I've been camping and caravaning for many years, I've never experienced anything as magical, apart from the fact it was our honeymoon, the start was the very detailed but relaxed walk round, the location it was like paradise and so laid back, the beach is absolutely stunning and would recommend this site to anyone old or young. We'll definitely be back. Karen

Loved this campsite. Very friendly welcome, silent at night time, great views and great proximity to beach. Brilliant facilties offered free of charge. Dog was made very welcome too. Next time I'll go for a full week as needed more time there. Was a wee bit breezy, so ensure you fasten down your awning/tent. Booking essential.

Not much different to say from the other reviews. Campsite is amazing, clean and plenty more facilities than you could ever wish for. Kayaks, paddle boards, wet suits and much more all available to use. Staff very chatty and helpful. Definitely planning our return trip next year. 100% best beachside campsite in Scotland

This place is incredible. The beaches are amazing. The facilities are super clean and the owners are great. We camped here for 5 days and all had a lovely time. They have kayaks, padel boards and wetsuits which are free to use. I would love to go back!
