Kiltariff Hall is a Victorian Country House on the outskirts of the small market town of Rathfriland. Built in 1888, by our great-grandfather, the house is set at the end of a short drive and is surrounded by mature oak, sycamore and pine trees. The reception rooms are beautifully spacious with high ceilings and ornate cornicing. The dining room boasts a large antique table and a Broadwood grand piano alongside the original fireplaces, pitch pine doors and woodwork. Upstairs the bedrooms are comfortable with well appointed en-suite bathrooms. There are exquisite views of the Mourne Mountains from one side of the house. a vegetable Kiltariff Hall is only 45 minutes drive from Belfast and an hour from Dublin. Attractions close by include Castlewellan, Tollymore and Kilbroney Forest Parks and the award winning Murlough National Nature Reserve and Blue Flag Beach. Many of the Game of Thrones locations are also close by.

The home is beautiful and Catherine is a wonderful hostess. It is stately but cozy. The Blue Room has incredibly comfortable beds (king and twin) with crisp, luxurious sheets and the perfect weight comforter. The room is very large with a clever ensuite disguised as a wardrobe. While the bathroom is compact, it is well done with a tall toilet and a shower with amazing water pressure.

Breakfast was varied, generous and tasty. The French press coffee was a great start to the morning.

So happy we found this wonderful home away from home. The perfect way to end our 3 week tour of Scotland and Ireland.

We arrived at Kiltariff by late afternoon and was pleasantly greeted by Catherine.
The fire was lighting in the drawing room and it was like walking back in time. Scones and tea by the fire and my Mum who is glutenfree was well looked after. Rooms were beautifully detailed.
Breakfast was lovely and in the dining room yet again a lovely space with classical music playing in the background and Catherines hospitality what more could we ask for.
Catherine recommended stopping in Rostrevor on our Mourne scenic rout drive back. And it was very picturesque. What a beautiful part of the world and everyone so friendly!!

Their home is a beautiful Victoria building built i 1888 by their Great Grandfather. The house has all its original features, with beautiful woodwork throughout. Our bedroom was ensuite with a very comfortable bed and beautifully furnished. On arrival we were treated to a very enjoyable afternoon tea. For breakfast we had the full "Ulster Fry" from the extensive menu which kept us full all day. Dining room was amazing in keeping with rest of house. Evening meal was also available at extra cost but great value, and great quality locally sourced and home grown produce. We especially enjoyed the home grown raspberries, potatoes, and green vegetables. Part of our package included a guided tour. We opted for the Tour of Mullough Bay Nature Reserve. Shelagh's knowledge of birds, plants, and butterfly's was amazing and we finished off with a delicious picnic prepared by Catherine. There were other tours available but this would be hard to beat. Catharine looked after us in the house and coped very well with the Covid Virus regulations making us feel very safe. Great value, great food, great hosts, magic house

This is a lovely old and characterful house, and Catherine was an unobtrusive and thoughtful host, and a very good cook! She had lit a fire for us in the drawing room, and prepared a three course dinner (superb chocolate mousse) including vegetables from the kitchen garden. Good Ulster tea, with fresh milk in a miniature fridge in our room, and a very comfortable bed. We really enjoyed our stay.

Kiltariff Hall is a beautiful Victorian house that’s been lovingly and exquisitely refurbished into a delightful Bnb. It’s the little touches like the fresh flowers in all the rooms and the attention to comfort and detail that make a guests stay a memorable one.

Catherine is a fabulous host and helpful on so many levels - especially on local knowledge, places to go and things to see.

There’s a great choice of fresh locally grown and produced foods on the breakfast menu and all is cooked to perfection. We also had an exceptionally delicious three course meal, one evening, served in the spacious dining room with lovely background music.

This family run exclusive accommodation has so much to offer with nearby Slieve Gullion, Warrenpoint, Rostrevor, the Mournes and numerous lakes and golf courses nearby.

The next time we go we’ll definitely book a Red Kite tour with Shelagh and explore more of counties Down and Armagh.

Stayed two nights in this lovely house which is unfussy and full of character. The bedrooms are beautiful and with the most comfortable beds. We did the special offer which was excellent value and had a wonderful guided walk in Castlewellan Forest Park too. Catherine was an excellent host and nothing was too much trouble. We visited during Covid and was impressed with the levels of hygine and the cleanliness of every space - it was spotless which gave us the confidence to relax. Definitely worth a visit.

I was in the area mountain biking, and spent a very nice evening in a very comfortable room in Kiltariff. Catherine is an exceptional host, and you can very easily tell she cares very deeply about what she does. The house itself is beautiful and nothing was an issue. I was able to charge an electric car overnight, and also store my bike securely overnight. The breakfast was one of the best I’ve had in a guesthouse. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Kiltariff Hall to anyone. It’s also located in one of the most scenic areas of Nth Ireland. I will definitely be back for more biking, and will definitely be staying in Kiltariff.

What an amazing welcome to Kiltariff Hall. The open fire in the drawing room was so cosy and Catherine shared some special memories of her childhood in the Rathfriland area where my father grew up. Fantastic breakfast with locally sourced produce.

Beautiful Victorian house lovingly maintained and made beautifully comfortable with addition of all mod cons . Unbelievably comfortable bed , gallons of hot water for .the magnificent bath and a delicious breakfast of locally sourced food . The high point might have been spotting a woodpecker at breakfast . Cathetine is a wonderful welcoming host and I can't wait to go back

Kiltariff Hall is a characterful country House B&B. The accommodation is well presented and the rooms are charming and comfortable. Catherine is a terrific host - tea and cake (lovely) on arrival and a lovely breakfast. But Catherine is also a fount of knowledge about her family's history and what to do in the surrounding area. We took her recmmendation re dining in Rathfriland - at Loft 56 - we were not disappointed. Completely recommend Kiltariff Hall as a place to stay overnight or for a while.
