My partner and I, along with our 2 dogs, spent a brilliant week in the Officer's Quarters at the beginning of June. The 'shabby chic' decor was just so appropriate to the surroundings and the level of comfort was definitely not compromised. The peace and quiet and simply breathtaking views were just wonderful, making for a really relaxing stay. Susan and Kiva were excellent hosts, being genuinely friendly and interested in our comfort and wellbeing. Both are really knowledgeable about the local area and able to make excellent recommendations on places to visit. The sweet pastry treats Susan left out for our arrival were just delicious! We would definitely book here again if we travel back to this area!
This is a long overdue review. We had the good fortune to book to stay and so meet Susan, the owner and her son, Kivah. Problems with our vehicle meant we were only able to stay one night- but they did everything they could to help us with our difficulties, and were warm, welcoming, and very friendly. Hospitality couldn't be bettered and the food was amazing. If you have a opportunity to stay, take it, you will be glad that you did.
Absolutely fantastic location, Amy and I both loved our stay here and will definitely return in the near future. The food was incredible as was the hosting. I really look forward to seeing how things develop over the next few years.
We visited Rua Rheidh Lighthouse (2 adults and 2 teenagers) on the 17th and 18th August and what an absolute joy in every way. Susan and her son Kivah are wonderfully warm and inviting, from their incredible home cooked food brought to the rooms beautifully packaged in little baskets to the glorious rooms and views and wonderful little chats and recommendations for the area. It is remote and the walks from the lighthouse are a must. This was definitely a highlight for all of us - if you are visiting this area, please do not miss it! Thank you so much Susan and Kivah and with much love x
This is a must for anyone touring the West Coast of Scotland. We stayed in the Gannet room for 2 nights and had the most amazing time. The views of Skye, Lewis and Harris are stunning and an afternoon watching for dolphins and whales from the window of our bedroom was magical. Meals were all home cooked by Susan with local produce and were delicious, catering for every dietary requirement. Meals were provided in picnic baskets delivered to our room by Keiver which made the whole experience feel even more unique. The relaxation of no WiFi, mobiles or TV was bliss. Both Susan and Keiver couldn't do enough to make our visit special. We can't wait to go back!
We stayed here for 2 nights and absolutely loved it It might not be for everyone as it is not super polished but it is magical A magical location, really off the track, stunning setting but it’s real attraction is the combination of Susan and Kiva - 2 wonderful hosts And the food was really outstanding Middle Eastern influence If you are into scenery , away from it and meeting wonderful hosts , could not recommend it more A place where you will come away with real memories
This was the highlight of our Anniversary NC500 trip. We stayed in the Orca room for two nights, taking breakfast and dinner. The renovation to the accommodation is stunning - creative, appropriate and immaculate. Susan’s food is Michelin standard - local, natural and delicious. It was beautifully presented by Kiva in hand-delivered baskets to our room - bliss! This really is a unique place to stay, both as a building and for the location. We highly recommend Rua Reidh.
Absolutely stunning. Amazing views across to Skye and beyond to Lewis and Harris. If you’re looking for some peace and quiet, walking, cycling or wildlife watching, this is the place. The views are amazing. The lighthouse is a working lighthouse, so you can see the light in the evening. Susan and Keeva are lovely. Warm friendly, perfect hosts. The meal hampers are delicious - Mediterranean style, lots of fruit and freshly cooked veg. Warming soups and delicious puddings. The rooms are part of the keepers accommodation, nice and warm, with a great little en-suite. Very off the beaten track, but not too far from Gairloch if you want shop or a cafe. Can’t recommend this lovely, lighthouse stay enough!
Me and my wife have stayed in the Lighthouse twice now with the new owners - Susan & Keeva. It is an outstanding place to stay. From the lighthouse you can see the Shiant Isles, Lewis, Harris, Skye, the Mouth of Loch Ewe, The Summer Isles(I think) & you have a great out to sea over the North Minch. From our room, Orca, we saw a minke whale on 2 occasions & Dolphins. We saw one whale whilst having dinner and the other whilst having Breakfast. From the lighthouse courtyard we saw more whales and Dolphins & porpoises. On the road up to the lighthouse we had great views of 2 cuckoos & we saw a White Tailed Eagle in Gairloch. The food was outstanding - delicious & healthy. Susan and Keeva were very kind, helpful & made the lighthouse feel like a home from home. I couldn’t recommend staying the lighthouse enough. To see the wildife you will most likely need patience and binoculars. & for whales ideally you want a calm sea. A little bit of luck always help as well. Thank you Susan & Keeva Best wishes Chris & Sylvia…
My parents stayed for 2 nights B&B in the Orca room and had an amazing time, Susan and Keva couldn't have been more helpful, their hospitality was 1st class. We had to change our dates on more than one occasion due to the on going pandemic, Susan was extremely helpful and did everything she could to accommodate them and make their stay a memorable one. The food was exceptional with my parents stating they would definitely go back. Scenery was something else. Thank you for a beautiful time.
