Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

An idyllic time spent in Millpool at St Germans. I knew of this place and had driven past it many times and was intrigued, it looked full of charm and very peaceful. How very right i was. An absolutely delightful place full of character, history and nature. The carriages are extremely homely, cosy and comfortable. The welcome goodie bag with the home grown apple juice a lovely gesture. I look forward to booking again soon. Thankyou.

Another great week in the Old Luggage Van. Train travel is great from outside the door. Love the slightly changed layout since we were last there in 2019. The garden looked so much nicer and still in flower for the time of year. The apples were really tasty straight off the tree. Lizzie and Dave supply a welcome pack on arrival and the village shop is about 10 minutes walk away. The weather wasn't the best but the OLV is snug and warm especially with the wood burner going. Great holiday in a place you don't want to leave.

We have just spent a week at Harvey in Hayle. We arrived by train and just a few steps away across the car park, we were at Harvey. Well, what a beautiful railway carriage it is. Lovely and cosy inside. All the original features have been kept. Well equipped kitchen. Set in a lovely garden - you get the whole site to yourselves. Everything is nearby. Very convenient. We were sorry we had to go home. Would highly recommend a stay in Harvey. You will not be disappointed.

We had a very pleasant, unplanned 4 day break in the TPO, which is well equipped and very spacious, so would be suitable for a family. Original microwave had developed a fault previous to our arrival, but by the time we had unpacked Dave had ordered a new unit and quickly set it up.An excellent service. This is our third visit to RailHoliday site and have already booked for later in the year in one of the other carriages.

I’d past by St Germans several times, travelling by train and, like many Rail Riders thought, interesting Victorian Carriages parked in the Station? Anyhow, managed getting contact details from a friend on Instagram; Quickly made friends of owners Lizzy and Dave, spent four very different wonderful nights beside the West of England Mainline. ‘‘Twas amazing how many mod-cons this old four wheeled London and Southwestern Luggage Van possessed even a Log Burner for holidaymakers, in the Wintertime. Special mention also must be made of St Germans, an hidden gem with it’s olde world style Pub facing the Village Post Office and Shop….I want to revisit.

We stayed in Harvey at Hayle It’s great to stay within a 1950s and 60s railway carriage and it is surprisingly comfortable considering that’s what it is. It’s in a marvellous place called Hayle and there is a lot of history there. There are nice beaches. And local food is excellent. The train station is just over the fence (it wasn’t too noisy) so you can travel anywhere along that line, and we went to Falmouth for a day out.

This was my second stay at Railholiday and this time I chose the Old Luggage Van, which is the smallest of their carriages. It is perfect for one person and for a rail enthusiast like myself is heaven, with close views of the passing trains. A very short walk gets you to the station to catch a train to virtually anywhere although in my case it was just local trips. The village itself is quiet and has a welcoming pub which is next door to the community shop. For dining out I would recommend the Halfway House pub which is a mile away at Polbathic.

Ample heating, hot water and bed linen provided.. Railway books for the enthusiast, many nature and tourist and fiction books are also available. We highly recommend the whole site.

We had a great stay in the Old Luggage Van and would thoroughly recommend it. Very comfortable and made cosy with the log burner. Bonus is that you are right by the platform at St Germans for train travel.

If there was a 10 rating Dave,Lizzie, Nikki and the team would get it from us. We had a superb time in the van and glorious weather to boot. The extraordinary lengths that Dave, Lizzie and Nikki went to in accommodating our last minute Ukrainian guest was absolutely outstanding. We cannot thank you enough for what you did to make us, and our guest, welcome. Would recommend Railholidays to anybody.
