What a lovely place. Beautiful building in a lovely setting, just a 20 minute drive to the centre of Bath. We arrived early but were accommodated and welcomed. We asked a few questions about parking/buses etc around Bath, all answered well. The room was lovely, very clean, great big bed, very comfortable. Lovely, solid furniture and good set up of teas and coffees etc. We ate dinner in the restaurant and would gladly eat there again. Lots of options on the menu and the specials board, food was tasty and good sized portions. Service was really friendly, we were made to feel welcome. Really couldn’t have asked for more. Great value for money, will gladly stay again! Thank you :)

Hosts: very warm and welcoming, although one of the owners was away, Nigel and the rest of the team made us feel incredibly welcome and made sure we had everything we needed, they also had lots of recommendations of things to do in the local area. Room: exceptionally clean and comfortable, nicely decorated. We couldn't ask for more! Restaurant: service was great, comfy and cosy feel, food was fresh and very tasty - nice varied menu as well. Location: Perfect if you want to visit places like Bath, Lacock, Stone henge, Longleat etc.... lots of things easily accessible from here! Overall: we liked it so much we are planning to return in the future! Loved it :) COVID-19: although there had to be alterations due to Covid (reduced menu, continental brekkie only), it didn't feel as if we missed out on any service or positive experience! The place was well run in terms of covid regulations and very clean.

We were staying in Hinton Charterhouse and were recommended this place as a great place to eat by a couple of the locals; regardless I had booked a table in readiness beforehand but the food and service was excellent. Despite a Covid-reduced menu there were still plenty of options and specials on offer and as for a dessert the Knickerbocker Glory was an absolute joy to eat. Our first meal was so good that we booked again on our last night in the county. If looking for a nice traditional meal in the Somerset area you cannot go wrong with this place. Recommended for food certainly, since we didn't actually stay here I can't comment on the rooms!

We loved this traditional country pub in the little village of Hinton Charterhouse in Somerset. There is a good menu here and a specials board which is nice to see. After some deliberation my husband chose the breast of pheasant served with apple mash and cabbage and I chose the homemade, mixed fish pie served with fresh vegetables. While waiting for the meals we tried the local beer which was very good and a New Zealand sauvignon blanc which was served nice and cold. The pub/restaurant has a nice country, cosy feel to it and we felt very relaxed. Our meals did not disappoint, generous portions, obviously freshly cooked and some nice fresh veg which you don't see in so many restaurants now. Both meals were excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed them, we were too full to try a pudding but I'm sure they would be very good as well. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area as it's good value for money in pleasant surroundings.
