We took over the horseshoes in January 2023 We have turned it into a cafe / bottle pub so we do not have any draught beers! But do have a good select of wines / bitters / lagers! We have 5 bedrooms all with en-suites which we have refurbished, the bathrooms are going to be a work in process they are clean but slightly dated! We are open Monday - 9-4 Tuesday - 9-4 Wednesday - closed Thursday - 10-8 Friday -10-8 Saturday -10-8 Sunday -9-3

We used to visit quite a while ago, the Horseshoes was a tired, cluttered old fashioned pub. We visited today for a quick lunch, what a difference, the clutter had been removed and it was bright and airy, but still maintaining the old village pub feel. We were told that the old landlord had gone and the new one had taken over November. We spoke to the landlord who is very friendly and pleasant. We had drinks and ordered some lunch from a quite small, but adequate menu. The food arrived quite quickly and looked very nice. It tasted very nice with adequate portions and is very reasonably priced. Overall a very pleasurable lunch. The landlord told us he had lots of plans for the future, definitely a work in progress. I would definitely recommend this place if you are in the area.

I booked to go to the The Horseshoes at Billingford, just to try somewhere different. I booked thinking it would be a village pub, so was very surprised when upon entering to see a very bright interior which looked like a really nice café, rather than a pub. The hosts were very welcoming and showed us to our table. There is not a huge selection on the menu but there was a special board with some excellent choices. All of the food was what I call proper grub, it was all home cooked and served on hot plates and was all piping hot and tasted superb. After eating the main the majority of us had a desert with my favourite sticky toffee pudding and custard. Everyone of our party really enjoyed the food and said that they would like to come back. When it came to paying the bill, was when I got a real surprise as six of us with drinks was less than £20 a head which is a real bargain. If you haven't been and are looking for somewhere to have good food and lovely service then you wont go far wrong picking the Horseshoes.

I've given this b & b a three because it's clean and the management was friendly but that was all the good bits.
Where do I start with the room..... The bathroom door doesn't close so no good if you like your privacy, the blind didn't work, the cord was off, it was too small for the window and had to be wound up and down by hand. There were no curtains which wouldn't gave mattered of the blind had fit properly. The bathroom window didn't open because the party that did was party of the room next door. Sharon this wouldn't have mattered if the fan was working but, you guessed it, it wasn't. The shower was dicing with death, there was a notice warning about very hot water but I thought once the temperature was set it would be OK but no. It fluctuated and became very hot. An accident waiting to happen. The day we arrived it was a one woman band operation as she had sacked her staff. Breakfast was good and cooked to order. And plenty of it. Once the management gets the rooms sorted it has the making of a nice B&B.

My wife and I were travelling back from Beccles to Milton Keynes (A143) after dropping off some equipment to a friend. We’d seen the pub on the way through in the morning, having said to ourselves that one of their signs looked a bit like a speed camera sign (bright yellow). We arrived about 1.30 and were warmly welcomed. We both had jacket potatoes which each came with plenty of filling, a big green salad, and quite a large pot of homemade coleslaw. The service was reasonably fast and very friendly. For a relatively new management they should be congratulated on a bright, and friendly setup serving good value food and drinks.
We’ll be visiting our friend again in the next few months and so will time our travel to stop here again too.

I visited with my husband and grandchildren on 11/02/23
On arrival we received a lovely warm welcome and the children were offered drawing ipads to keep them occupied.
The décor is cosy and clean and love the menu selection.
The waitress was chatty friendly and nothing to much trouble.
We ordered the specials the pie and quiche absolutely delicious a great size portion and piping hot.
The children's meals are excellent value and again great portion size.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will visit often.
Well done to the new owners wishing you the very best

Went for Saturday lunch, had burger and chips, was lovely and plenty on plate. Recently reopened with new owners very nice friendly people. Would recommend giving it a try, currently doing breakfasts, lunches and plenty of cakes on offer too if you can manage it or if you just fancy a coffee and cake.

No dogs allowed which may not suit some people but it is not that sort of establishment. Looking forward to when they start doing carvery’s. Wish the owners all the best for the future and hope it works out for them.

Havent been since it was converted from a pub so thought would try a breakfast.
The breakfast was really very good perhaps at the more expensive end of breakfasts, but fully enjoyed it.
There are a lot of cafes in both Diss and Harleston that are probably as good as, if I was driving by probably well worth calling in.
Was made to feel very welcome, however this should be common everywhere, but often isnt.

Booked for Sunday lunch and will never return again. Food was cold - false images used on Facebook. The food was served from a small hot plate with potatoes and parsnips sat on top freezing cold. Chicken was served to small child with bones included, cabbage looked as though it had been regurgitated, cauliflower cheese was pretty much just raw cauliflower. Raised with management to be told that the pictures used are their own (background in photos bares no resemblance to any part of the pub!) and that they can’t control how the food is plated. Was told that the food is fresh ( most definitely a lie). Floor was also filthy with red food splatters and the only place the high chair needed to be was in a skip! Baby had to sit on lap due to high chair being unsafe. Terrible food and terrible manners from the staff. AVOID!

We stopped here on the way home from hospital visit. The first 4 of our menu choices were not available. No steaks at all (except gammon), no pie of the day, no sausages, in fact nothing. Managed to get 2 plaice & one lamb chops. All served with new potatoes obviously warmed up in a microwave but were only lukewarm, same with peas. Really felt sorry for our waitress who ran back & forth to the kitchen to ask if they had what we'd ordered, only to return & say sorry but no. Our first visit & definitely the last.

I have stayed in 5☆hotels, air bnb, and even back packers all around the world, and I would definitely not go back to The Hotseshoes Billingford.

The photos and descriptions are deceptive .

Access to the rooms is via an outside metal staircase. At the top, the concrete is broken up and a trip hazard.

The inside area had a dirty carpet and unpleasant smell. My room did have a better carpet , but the shower room had not been cleaned with an empty shampoo sachet left in the tray and brown ring in the toilet.

The bed was comfortable and bedding was clean, which was the only reason I was prepared to stay.
There was a good supply of tea coffee and uht milk.

I failed to find alternative accommodation in the area, or I would have left.
