We arrived to find we had a very large ground floor room, leading onto the garden, which was very well furnished and decorated. The dining room was a lovely bright room but we were shown out to a table on the veranda looking over a stream with the water mill behind us.It was a delightful setting and an excellent dinner BEWARE,...

A nice little hotel a bit off the beaten track. The original mill was built in the 16th century, to which has been added the hotel and restaurant. We chose the menu "Haute Santonge" which had a reasonable choice and was very good.

Hotel and restaurant facing a small river powering the mill. Hotel has incorporated the old mill in its buildings. Large well decorated and clean rooms facing the river. Lovely to have dinner and breakfast outside overlooking the water. Swans and ducks swimming happily around. Restaurant serves Michelin quality food. Prices are acceptable. Good swimming pool for the kids. Hotel like...

We recently stayed here for 2 nights in a suite overlooking the river. As has been said elsewhere, this is a delightful hotel in a beautiful setting - but.... The food really is not good. Tiny portions (not even enough for a child) from a limited and uninspiring menu. By all means stay here and enjoy, but eat at a...

The hotel is in a great location with great rooms, we had a suite overlooking the river up to the old mill and the island with goats. Staff attentive. Food not what it says on the tin Chef is trying to hard to be different, some of his accompanying flavours overpower the main theme of the dish presented a shame...

We stayed here for 4 nights recently. The room was wonderful with a balcony overlooking the river and woods on the other side. There was birdsong and peace! There is a pool for when the weather is warmer and the staff were all very friendly. The only criticism is of the restaurant menu. It is good quality food, well cooked,...

We spent New Year's Eve with friends at the Moulin - our first visit. We were greeted warmly with our 2 labradors - always makes you feel more relaxed when you know the dogs are welcome! Lovely. They were equally welcome in the bar and lounge areas, which have spectacular views of the stream meandering through the woodland. We had...

A truly rural retreat in France's Cognac region. Set on a mill stream (they've still got the water wheel) with several rooms offering gorgeous views of wooded landscape. Quaintly antique furnishings with thankfully modern bathroom. Restaurant serves refined rustic food. Not the place to go if you're into nightlife, but a lovely retreat if you want to get away.

The only thing to break the peace is the sound of the mill stream by which the Milhouse, hotel and restaurant stand. The rooms are full of character and very comfortable. The restaurant was excellent and was an excellent start to our holidays.

We usually drive mile to go to Sunday lunch, we found this gem looking for another restaurant on line, however we were not disappointed, the food was really good, the staff were attentive and the view was amazing, lovely babbling river, an island inhabited by goats and geese, very amusing while we ate a leisurely and beautifully prepared Sunday lunch....
