We stayed at Hampton Manor on the staycation package which included bed & breakfast, wine tasting and two evening meals including one Michelin star experience. The hotel is set in stunning grounds and you are made to feel you have the 'run of the manor' for the duration of your stay. Our room was delightful and the freshly baked cookies are a real winner. Fraser gave us a warm welcome and delivered a fantastic whiskey tasting! Breakfast service was fantastic with plenty of options and great quality meat. The first nights dinner at smoke felt a little basic and whilst the main of lamb was tasty a beetroot salad and apple pie wasn't the 5* we had expected for starter and dessert. We also felt slightly let down by our meal at Peels and after opting for all the upgrades we were served three courses all in one go! It felt as though we were often rushed and both wine and courses were served without both diners being present. This was not Michelin star service. The staycation is great for people who just want to arrive and have everything there in one place but at times expectation didn't meant reality with our stay here. …
We thoroughly enjoyed our two night staycation, this is such a beautiful and elegant hotel which has been expertly updated, decorated and furnished and the owners are obviously passionate about it. We stayed in the Robert Peel suite which is spacious, light and bright with a view over the sweeping lawns and also the quirky clock tower which is like something out of a fairy tale! Dinner the first night in the greenhouse (Smoke) was very atmospheric, the starter and pudding were good but the main course of very slow cooked shoulder of lamb was not to our taste. Dinner the second night at Peels was superb, every dish in the 5 course tasting menu hit the right balance between flavours, textures and inventiveness. We hope to return!
We visited Hampton Manor on the staycation package and were blown away by the hotel, the food was brilliant both nights and their attention to detail was perfect. Our bedroom was slightly disappointing and didn't feel in keeping with the main hotel, the style was dated in the Butler's Lodge so make sure to request the main house! We loved the wine tasting and Peel's was a great experience, just a warning that the duck can contain bullets. I found THREE in my dish and our waitress laughed and said it was lucky but you could definitely crack a tooth on one of those bad boys. Also just make sure you don't leave your umbrella in the stand in Reception as ours was stolen :(
This was a 2 day taster menu staycation on the August bank holiday weekend. It was a surprise for my birthday and our wedding anniversary and it was fantastic!! Set in the middle of nowhere, amidst 45 acres, this is an incredible find. We travelled with our friends and were fortunate enough to stay in the George Fentham Suite and the Robert Peel suite. Rooms were wonderful and the food was out of this world. Although the taster menu was divine I actually preferred The Smoke. Totally different and food was absolutely wonderful. On the Sunday we ordered a picnic and found a secluded spot within the grounds. The whole weekend, from start to finish was superb. Thoroughly recommend.
My wife and I spent two nights at Hampton Manor and absolutely loved it. The food and the property were both outstanding. And the staff are INCREDIBLE. They really made the stay extra special. So friendly and knowledgeable. They come across like a large happy family and made us feel like part of it. Eating at Peels was everything we had hoped it would be. Although eating at Smoke was arguably even better! (Partly as we didn’t know what to expect) As well as the great food we had a lot of great wine and whisky. Not to mention a beautiful walk, a brilliant massage and some cracking games of billiards. Would highly recommend. Can’t wait to see what they do next to the place.
