Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our 3rd visit to The Boat and we were both really looking forward to the Valentine meal. Definitely not disappointed. The hosting and service is always fabulous.. Every course of every meal has always been beautiful. We had 3 courses each, all different choices and we both loved every last mouthful. Beautifully cooked and presented. The staff are very attentive, nothing is too much trouble. The pub itself is very welcoming and cosy...it was such a pleasure to be back. If you haven't visited you really MUST it was a fabulous find for us when we moved to the area. You will not be disappointed.

Fantastic food, a lovely cosy setting and a marvelous host. Thankyou. We had visited several times to eat and chose it for our wedding reception. We were not disappointed. They helped us choose menus, provided a private area with space for first dance and kept our bubbly topped up.

Hallway stank to high heaven like a rugby club dressing room. Room stank to high heaven of cigarette smoke (no smoking allowed in rooms). Grime and dust on every surface throughout. Black and pink mould in the bathroom. Thin curtains did not block out light. Noisy fridge whirring all night (or at least until I unplugged it at the wall). No water or milk provided (making aforementioned fridge a pointless fitting). One teaspoon - which was covered in a white crusty substance. Bed linen not fresh. Shower and tap water temperature uncontrollable - temperature is set at unbearably hot temperature. LED emergency bulkhead light on the ceiling above bed - illuminated room all night. I recommend you think twice before housing livestock in this room, let alone staying it yourself.

Went for lunch with family of 5. Owners were friendly, welcoming and attentive without being over bearing from the start. Lovely setting, cosy and warm with the log burner. We had 2 camembert sharing board to start, was lovely, nice touch with pickles, gherkins, olives and sun dried tomato's. Plenty of bread to dunk in. It was a meal in itself. Mains again very good, burgers were tasty, fish and chips great chunky tripple cooked chips, and salmon with variety of veg. All hot, fresh and well presented. Reasonable prices. Would highly recommend food and service. Im surprised it wasnt busier. Will definetly be back.

Our first visit to the boat for years although we are local. Great Food, not your normal run of the mill pub food, definitely a cut above. Great service, very comfortable surroundings, log burner going, spotless toilets. What more could you want. If you haven't been under present management we suggest you try it.

Wonderful as always, never had a bad meal here. Great service, cozy pub, roaring fire, relaxed atmosphere and lovely food. Nice little touches with the cheese and biscuits, such as homemade chutney and oatcakes, also good selection of wines and cocktails.

Sunday lunch was amazing . Great food and super service. Good real ale. Fair prices. The best meal we’ve had for a long time. The roast dinner particularly good. Well worth a visit. We’re not local but will be back for sure!

My sister and i visited The Boat in for 2 nights in October, we also took my dog. It was really cosey and the guys were so friendly, we took our own breakfast, coffee, tea and milk was supplied, there is also a fridge. The beds are so comfy and we had a fabulous weekend, we walked shopped, drank and ate at The Boat in, loved every minute, the guys could not have done enough for us, they even offered us their home made Ukraine Donuts, they were delicious. We will be back to sample their delicious food and lovely hospitality. Thank you again, we wish you all the best. Jackie, Julie and Phoebe the Beagle :)
