Given the pandemic and that my wife was shielding and with both our work we hadn’t been away anywhere since December 2019 so with a ‘circuit breaker’ looming in Wales and being in a local lockdown anyway we decided to use a free Saturday to have a little get away, even if it’s only a 12 minute drive from our house! The dog friendly lodge rooms are ideal as we needed to bring our 2 furries along. The Swansea staycation package was also excellent value for money: B&B, glass of Prosecco each on arrival, 3 course dinner with a bottle of wine for £150, can’t go wrong on that!

The location is lovely, ideal to drive or cycle to Gower beaches or follow the stream just along from the front of the hotel down the Bishopston valley trail to Pwll Du beach, which is what we did to give the dogs a good walk.

The lodge room was spacious, warm and nicely appointed with a comfy king bed and a nice dining area set up for breakfast in the room. The only slight issue was the hot water was a bit hit & miss so we had to top up the bath with the kettle.

We had a couple of beers on the terrace on the afternoon and then had dinner in the restaurant. The service throughout our stay was perfect and very friendly. The dinner was outstanding, really high quality and excellent taste. We were both so happy that our first meal out since February was so good - worth the wait! To cap it off they made an excellent French coffee. Breakfast which you order the night before, was served to the room and was perfectly adequate to set us up for the day.

Overall an really good experience and lockdowns permitting we hope to return soon.

My sister got married at this hotel and is was perfect from start to finish. The food was excellent and staff could not have been more helpful. The canapes served were marvellous and the hot buffet, well, WOW, there was a huge range of hot, tasty food, all served by wonderful, helpful staff. Their attention to detail, especially when looking after less mobile guests was particularly noteworthy. Everyone had a ball, congratulations Coral and Fred, what a wonderful celebration!!!

Spent a lovely afternoon having the Royal Afternoon Tea, which is delicious and plentiful. The staff were lovely from the moment they ran to confirm our booking. We were offered refills on our tea and all our leftovers were boxed beautifully for us to take away, The conservatory where we were seated looks like a wedding location it is so pretty. The covid restrictions were very comprehensive and we felt very safe and looked after. Will definitely book again when we are back in the area. Thank you so much.

We stayed at the Gower Hotel using the Groupon Voucher; a three course meal, breakfast, and Prosecco on arrival was included in the deal.

Upon arrival, staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. Checking in was very straightforward. They gave us a tour of the hotel and showed us to our room. We cannot find fault with the staff at all!

Our meal was delicious and food was served very quickly. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. The menu was huge and looked amazing. Breakfast the next morning was also lovely and had quick service. The tables were laid very well.

Our room was clean and tidy and had a very cozy feel. The bed was comfortable and had lovely white sheets. Our only issue was with the bathroom; the sink was blocked, toilet seat loose and the shower had clearly been leaking for some time. We made staff aware of the sink blocking and they sent maintenance on the case right away which is very satisfactory. If these issues were to be amended, I would give the hotel 5 stars.

We would highly recommend the New Gower Hotel to others and really enjoyed our stay. Thank you for having us!

The Hotel was situated in a perfect position for touring The Gower. However, there was a serious health and safety issue. A heavy glass shelf insecurely secured to the wall of shower in our bathroom fell off into the bottom of the shower while my husband was showering.
That was reported to the owner, along with the push down plug in the sink which was broken, the safe that needed a new battery and the “rain shower” that only worked just before the control was turned to extreme cold.
The owner’s response – “Well, you’ve been unlucky” – No apology. An offer was made to replace the shelf which could not be done before we left. An offer was also made for me to wash my hair in another room.
Rooms were referred to on their worksheet as “clean” before new occupants and “refresh” for existing occupants – refresh being change towels – leave old towels, not remove, and make bed. A hair clip was found behind the sink days into our visit, and reported, which was left by the previous occupant. How thorough was the “full clean”?
Breakfast was based on strict control – one small pat of butter per person, four small jams on a table of six, five slices of toast. A 5 inch thin serviette. Because of the inadequate supply of the basics, more had to be repeatedly asked for, which is not a comfortable position for guests.
Praise must be given to the hard working, friendly and helpful young staff.

Nobody likes writing a bad review but we attended a wedding, this place can’t cope with weddings, food awful inedible. Young staff, Tough beef, single frozen roast, mixed bland veg and a Yorkshire. Bar closes at 10pm and if they could usher you out with a witches broom at 10.01pm they would. Stark wedding room, white walls and ceiling that’s it. Evening buffet tough beef sandwiches , cheese - cold pale sausage rolls - and the rest tasted like left overs that had been in the fridge two days, more was left than ate. Rude obnoxious owner who cant wait to get rid of people from early on, I was shocked at the lack of passion for what they do, no niceties - the manners equivalent to running a borstal canteen, better local businesses out there that want your custom and enjoy what they do, working hard to create a warm fun wedding environment. 50 people can’t be wrong, a lot of over 80’s , so not even a challenging age group to manage, Bride and groom were stunning, and luckily the company and family made the day. Big failings that need addressing and improving.

If you are looking for a wedding venue in Swansea or Gower, I would highly recommend The New Gower Hotel.

My husband and I had our wedding here last weekend and it was absolutely brilliant- nothing was too much trouble for the staff, especially Molly who went above and beyond not just on the wedding day but on the evening before (as the bridal party stayed for two nights) and the morning after as well.

All of the rooms were beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the hotel. It was lovely to have the use of the whole hotel during the day of the wedding and it was great to be able to use the outdoor seating as well. We were thrilled with how the room looked throughout the day and it was great to have seating in the conservatory for those who didn't want to be sat right by the dance floor in the evening.

The food was amazing and so many people have said how nice it was. We had a three course meal for the wedding breakfast and then the cold buffet for the evening. It was a really lovely touch that some of the buffet was plated up and taken up to the room for us to eat later, as Molly and Linda knew that we may not have time to eat as we wanted to spend time with our guests.

I cannot thank Linda, Molly and team enough for the excellent service we received and we are looking forward to going back to the hotel in the future!

My partner and I were very lucky to find this gorgeous spot for our wedding day lunch. In total we had a party of 18 people which worked out very well in the conservatory area and the Covid restrictions (6 per table) - it's also worth noting that we were married on a Saturday where the restaurant is normally closed, so we had it to ourselves.

Parking in the local area was manageable for guests, with extra spaces available a 5-minute walk away if all the nearby spaces are full.

Both Linda and Hollie worked tirelessly to make the day special and flow smoothly - they even added some gorgeous decorations to the eating area which made the whole afternoon feel magical. They were accommodating for all our guests' needs and were able to adapt quickly to help our toddler nephews.

In spite of the restrictive Covid regulations, the staff delivered a perfect afternoon with grace.

Our stay in the hotel was also very enjoyable. The bed was very comfy, and the facilities in the room were great. The bath and shower in particular were fantastic! Rooms contain coffee and tea making facilities and a information leaflet which we found very clear and helpful.

Booked the Afternoon Tea Royale to celebrate end lockdown with my friends. We were given a great welcome on arrival by Linda and was very impressed with the appropriate Covid checks prior to being shown to our table.
The tea royals includes a glass of sparkling wine so we enjoyed that whilst the staff took our tea orders and vrout out the food. I am more of a savoury rather than sweet person so was delighted with the excellent choice of sandwiches, wraps and other savories including a slice of pork pie. The desert offering was amazing and my sweet toothed friends feasted on scones, mini Victoria sandwich, choux buns, chocolate cake, to name just a few of the desserts on offer. I particularly liked the fresh fruit tarlet and the mini chocolate torte.
Really enjoyed our afternoon. Staff were brilliant and filled up our teapots on request. Can highly recommend the afternoon tea. Probably best I've ever had.
Thanks Mark and Linda. X

I wanted to share my love of the Gower coast with my townie friend. Surfing I discovered the New Gower Hotel in Bishopston, we booked for 5 days.
We were made very welcome, taken through all the Coved regulations, we had booked a twin room the Reynoldston which had our own private terrace😁
After a long drive, we sat on the hotel terrace which was a delight with lights in the trees and sampled the extremely delicious Prosecco.
5 stars to the chef, the dinner was absolutely scrumptious well presented, along with quality wine and Penderyn Whisky.
Breakfast was served in our bedroom (what a treat)
Couldn’t fault all the staff so polite and friendly, the decor was high standard, comfortable beds we slept well and the warm weather was a bonus.
Yes a Jewel in Gower, my friend was converted

Did you book direct with the hotel? If a booking site was used? Try going through them, same if credit card was used? As I didn’t have to cancel my booking I’m unsure apart from the above I hope you manage to get your refund though. Regards

Is there wheelchair access?
Answer from Chantelle M
Hello Brendan, We have wheel chair access into our conservatory that will give access to the ground floor of our hotel. If you are wanting a room with wheel chair access, all rooms have some steps or stairs so this may pose a problem. Let me know your needs and we can see if we can assist on our side.
