This is really a wonderful B&B! Joanne and Jem are wonderful hosts, the view out of our bedroom window was breathtaking, the room was roomy and comfortable. The breakfast was truly one of the best we have ever had, and we ate this in the very comfortable conservatory.
The area is lovely with plenty of opportunities for walking.
I can honestly not think of anything which was not perfect there and we will definitely be staying at Lydshaw again!

A wonderful location with rooms overlooking the panoramic views of the sea. Easy to find and very relaxing from the minute you step over the front door. Joanne and Jem go out of their way to make you feel so special and nothing is too much trouble, Good breakfast menu with lots of choice and excellently cooked by Joanne to set you on your day. Plenty to see nearby and around. Also great for walkers, or cyclists, We keep recommending this to all our friends because we feel it really is the best B & B in Britain!!

Lydshaw certainly delivers on all fronts. The welcome is warm and friendly and the rooms are so well equipped with generous tea making facilities and biscuits. Each guest gets a pile of towels with products available in the bathroom.
The view is as sensational as the breakfast. We got fresh pate with a selection of breads, preserves, cereals, fresh fruit then a huge choice of cooked breakfast using local produce.
Truly worth coming back for.

This year I had to sail from Bideford for the first time and was stumped about where to stay. Found a reccomendation on Simon Dell's website for Lydshaw B & B not far out of Bideford at Northam, and we were not disappointed. It was an ideal place to start our Lundy holiday. Joanne and Jem warmly welcomed us with a cuppa, showed us our rooms - with an amazing view over Bideford Bar, and I could see Lundy rising majestically from the sea in the far distance. Our car was parked safely with them, then after a delicious B/F of smoked salmon and scrambled egg at 6.15 am the next day (Thankyou Joanne!), Jem drove us down to the quay for our 7.00am start, then picked us up again when we returned five days later. Thanks to their wonderful hospitality, helpfulness and more than comfortable surroundings, as well as transporting us to and fro ensured we REALLY enjoyed the whole holiday. Highly recommend!!

From the warm welcome and a much needed cup of tea after a long journey to the lovely bedroom, with the breathtaking views. Everything spotlessly clean. Breakfast delicious especially the strawberries from the garden. Unfortunately only stayed one night as we visited for a family funeral, but we will definitely be back for a longer break in this wonderful b&b. thanks to Joanne and Jem from Sandra and john

We stayed here for two nights as a weekend break. Joanne and Jem couldn't have been any more helpful or friendly; nothing was too much trouble, from lending us walking books to helping me rinse off my wet suit. Would definitely come again.

I recently stayed at lydshaw b&b with my boyfriend and my parents whilst on a round the world trip and visiting family in Devon. We stayed 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is warm and cosy, the view from our room was amazing and the breakfast was excellent. The house is in a great location, the hosts are lovely and make you feel immediately at home. I would recommend lydshaw as a fantastic place to stay in Devon if you're looking for a welcoming, warm home away from home!

The hosts of this quite lovely B&B are Joanne & Jem... Quite frankly, they are Gems!!!!!
My Mother and I visited here and found that the hosts were both very pleasant and informative of the area with a mixture of humour to boot! I couldn't believe how you immediately felt at ease with this lovely B& B! It is probably one of the most comfortable and clean B&Bs I have ever been in! The breakfasts were also very tasty... and definitely abundant! I hope to visit sometime again in the future! Being from Canada, it won't be soon.... but when we do, this place will be on our list to see if there is availability! BTW, if you have a chance to listen to their daughter's CD... Do so! She has such a beautiful voice!
