Crown House dates from the late 18th century and has been a drovers' inn, change house, Forestry Commission office and latterly, a private home. Many guests have passed through its doors, from unknown drovers heading to Glasgow from the Isles to one or two more famous ones, such as John Keats, who stayed here during his tour of the Highlands in 1818. We have two bedrooms, one ensuite double and one family room with double and single bed and a private bathroom. We welcome walkers, cyclists and motorcyclists and have drying facilities and secure storage for bicycles. We aim to use local produce where possible, bake our own bread and, depending on the time of year, our bees will provide the honey!

Pete and Sue took over our one night booking following sudden closure of another local establishment. As we needed two en suites, and their project to install a second one is still a "work in progress", they kindly made their own facilities available to us - although be prepared for a walk downstairs if you need to in the middle of the night! Note that this is not really a disability friendly B&B with both rooms upstairs and the main en suite having quite a steep sided bath with shower over. A wife with two replacement knees found the going a bit tough. However the rooms were large and very comfortable. On our arrival on a damp day, Pete immediately lit a fire for us in the comfortable lounge/breakfast room, and provided a pot of tea and throughout our short stay he and Sue were very helpful. You will need to travel back to Kilmartin for dinner but breakfast here was excellent including home made porridge and full cooked Scottish. Books abound along with a copious supply of maps and leaflets - and plenty of info on the local beaver re-introduction project with which Pete is heavily involved. Internet very flaky. On street parking but this is not a problem given the lack of traffic. A very homely feel to the place.

Thank you for the review, Sue and I are glad you enjoyed your stay. We will be closing soon for the winter which will give us a chance to complete the bathroom renovation! We find our Internet flaky as well, despite paying extra for the allegedly 'Superfast Broadband'. Connectivity generally in Argyll is a little shaky but we believe more than made up for by our amazing environments, culture and natural heritage. I'm even more involved with the beavers now as a further reintroduction has just been announced! Pete

After cycling 74 miles this homely B+B was a sight for sore eyes where Sue and Pete made us very welcome and couldnt be more helpful. Top breakfast in the morning setting us up for the next days cycling. Highly recommend and hope to visit again sometime.

This was without doubt the best Bed and Breakfast that I have ever stayed in in my life. The B&B forms part of Pete and Sue's home and you can't help but feel instantly at ease with the warm and pleasant welcome that you receive on your arrival. The bedroom was absolutely perfect with a really comfortable bed. The bathroom was great and the shower worked so well. There was no TV but this was in no way an issue and it made for a pleasant change. The breakfast for me was the real highlight. Freshly cooked food and a really generous portion which really did kick start my day. Also the added bonus of Stornoway Black Pudding - (Charlie Barley for any other enthusiasts) There is also fresh honeycomb from their own bee hives which was DIVINE! If I am in the area I will definitely call in again. I highly recommend this place.

A real home from home. Room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. Sue and Pete were really friendly and helpful...attentive but not obtrusive. Great breakfast choices including honey from their own hives. A great place to stay.

Stayed 4 nights in Sue & Pete's wonderful home. Lovely hosts who generate an easy going, totally relaxing environment. Our bedroom was extremely spacious, warm, great beds & the bathroom had everything we needed. We also had a separate sitting room with a box wood fire to relax in front of. Breakfast was fresh, plentiful with home baked bread, fresh fruit, their own honey & loads more. We were sad to leave. Sue & Pete know so much about the area & Scotland & they never once tired of our questions. We were sad to move on & highly recommend their B&B.

We spent two nights in this lovely B&B. The hosts Sue and Pete dealt with our lactose fee, gluten free and vegetarian needs perfectly. There was fresh fruit at breakfast and the porridge that we requested. The farm fresh eggs are collected locally. And the honey is from the hosts bees. It was one of the most restful nights I've spent on a trip. The room is very well laid out with a gorgeous roll top bath in the ensuite. It's such a peaceful spot and we felt right at home.

Fabulous B&B, our room was lovely and very spacious. One of the best nights sleeps I've had in a long time, (I usually can't sleep on the first night in a new place). Breakfast was just scrumptious and plentiful. However top accolade goes to the hosts Pete and Sue, such a warm friendly couple with loads of information about the area. You can tell they love it there and it is easy to see why, such a beautiful place.

We had a great stay here; definitely one of best b&b's we've been to. Friendly hosts who went the extra mile for us and understood our needs after a tiring bike ride! Log burner in the guest sitting room; beautiful house; stunning and peaceful location; fab breakfast and comfy bed. All just right. Thank you

Had a fantastic stay here a couple of weeks back. Our hosts were extremely accomodating (despite us turning up fairly bedraggled after a long stay cycling in the rain) - and were very knowledgable about the area. The room was lovely, the breakfast was hearty - and we had a great night's rest. Would highly recommend!
