My wife and I were visiting Cumbria to meet a new puppy that we were planning to buy. Living in Bromley, Kent, we did not relish the idea of travelling there and back in a day but struck lucky when we were recommended to try an overnight stay at Bessiestown. We can honestly say that it is one of the... More

It was a shame that our stay was short, as we had booked a one stay here whilst visiting family in the area. We arrived to find a lovely, very rural setting, with views over Cumbria. The proprietors were very friendly and welcoming, mentioning that amazingly they had been running the B&B for over 44 years. The business was a... More

This is the best Guest house by far that we have ever stayed in. The friendly welcome we received as soon as we arrived from the hosts Margaret and Jackie was second to none. The rooms were spacious, luxurious with great attention to detail and spotlessly clean. We had fresh towels each day and hearty breakfast with fresh produce locally... More

This establishment should be given 5 stars plus for the quality of the rooms, the welcome and friendliness the owners and staff and the excellent breakfast. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a stay in what is just like being in ones own home.

This is a luxurious guest house in the middle of the Cumbrian countryside near to the Scottish Borders. We were greeted by our host and welcomed by a luxurious room with a very comfortable bed and a small fridge with fresh milk. Breakfasts are great and all of the Bessietown people have time to chat. Evening meal is very good... More

Myself and my wife had the most delicious afternoon tea at Bessiestown Farmhouse today. The food was absolutely spot on and the service and attention was perfect. What a lovely conservatory to dine in. Doesn't come any better than this. Highly recommended.

Myself and some friends went to bessietown for afternoon tea. I can't eat dairy so was slightly nervous as to what I would receive. But they honestly made a fantastic effort, especially on the pudding side, which I know can be difficult to source/produce. They had made me separate sandwiches, sourced vegan cheese, made apple pie, separate scones, and much... More

Stayed for one night here. The owners were so nice and friendly. We had the choice of two suites. Took the honeymoon suite. Very nice! Room was spotlessly clean and airy. Lovely peaceful stay. Excellent breakfast. Would certainly recommend.
