A very way welcome from the staff here, room is well presented and a full supply of tea/coffee/milk is available. Food is of a very good quality and the chef was very accommodating when they heard I had to leave early the following morning and made sandwiches for my lunch in place of breakfast.

Would certainly stay here again and will recommend to my work colleagues if they are in the area

If your looking for an upmarket gastro pub then this isn’t for you. It’s an old fashioned pub, but the welcome immediately made you feel at home. Daughter behind the bar and mum in the kitchen, they can’t do enough for you & dogs made very welcome.
The food was all cooked fresh, piping hot and just like mum used to make. I had the liver & bacon with mash and peas, cooked to perfection and not a processed mash in sight. Hubby had all day breakfast and they were happy to swap out the items he didn’t like, even Oakley our cockapoo got his own dish of chicken on the house.
The dessert menu read like a70/80s menu treacle pudding, bread& butter pudding, spotted dick & more. But I’d already settled on sweet lovers sundae, vanilla & choc ice cream, lots of cream, choc sauce and pieces of chocolate.
Excellent value for money and well worth a visit, we’ll be back.

We stayed for one night as we were attending a concert in Truro. Jean greeted us and showed us to our room with ensuite bath/shower and toilet. The property is right in the middle of the village and our room overlooked an old market selling plants and produce which looked intriguing.
The following morning Jean cooked our breakfasts to order, and coped with our rather bizaare personal food choices! Breakfast was amazing and Jean (also known as Nan) was a delightful, attentive and very helpful host. She really is the beating heart of this establishment and long may she be so!

Only stayed one night thankfully.
I booked this as it clearly stated full English breakfast included but after looking forward to a nice cooked breakfast I get told no chef in today and it’s continental. I got the feeling that there never is a chef in the morning! Got cheap sliced white bread toast jam yogurt and cereal.
General a grubby pub and room all very tired looking and not very clean.
The room was facing a noisy main road and walls so thin you can hear the guest next door like they are in the room.
Sink cracked. Shower head not working and dirty. Mould in bottom of shower. Dirty mirror and shelf. Windows grubby and let noise in as didn’t shut fully.
Old sheets but were clean (1 star).
Definitely not worth £100 for one person. Thanks for nothing.

I was due to stay for two nights. I left the next morning. It seems the pub was taken over in October and perhaps not the same standard as before.
When I arrived at 10 I was asked if I wanted breakfast...er well I paid for it! He said he'd let his chef know (at 10.20pm the night before!).
Next morning turned up for breakfast to be told no chef, so cereal only. I suspect it was not worth paying a chef to come in and cook for 1 person.
However, I may have coped with this if the room wasn't filthy. There was dust over the bedside cabinets and window sills. The window overlooking the main road did not shut properly due to the latch sitting on the sill and not affixed to the window.
The bathroom clearly had not been cleaned. There was blood stains and bloody tissue on the toilet along with urine stains and pubic hairs. See photos (but not if squeamish).
I'm not fussy, and didn't expect luxury, but now of all times, I expect cleanliness.
The signs on the wall in the hallway asking to use the hand sanitiser here were also interesting, since there were no hand sanitisers to be seen.

The bed was comfortable.

I woke early to the sound of lorries driving past the rickety window.

After two years of sporadic business you would really think that hospitality businesses would make more of an effort. Greeting was friendly and I was taken up to room 5 which is a large, family room that would certainly have been big enough for a couple and two young children. Having said that, the room was next to the roof extractor so the only quiet hours were from about 1am until a little before 6. So sleep is difficult. The room was basically clean, if a bit tatty with a carpet in need of a good clean - and the bed linen of low quality. Shower was adequate.
The real disappointment was breakfast. I was invited to help myself to the “continental”, which was basically yesterday’s afternoon tea of scones and lemon cake, with a few yogurts and a melon boat. Very lightly toasted bread, of dubious freshness, was brought out to go with the individual plastic pots of marmalade. I declined tea or coffee and asked for hot water and lemon but the hot water was undrinkable. I’m guessing from a badly scaled kettle. Leaving having touched very little I was asked if all was OK and I mentioned that I had been expecting a proper breakfast, given I had paid £90 for a room over a pub in a small village. I was told that a cooked breakfast was £5 extra and that I needed to order it when I checked in. I said I hadn’t been offered that and was told that the woman’s daughter had booked me in, not her. So that was that.

Needed a one night stay in Truro at fairly short notice so booked this place. Paid in advance (£51) unfortunately. Took one look at the room and left - could not contemplate staying in this disgusting filthy hole. Probably worth £51 not to risk sleeping there. Whole place stank of cigarette smoke. This hotel is a disgrace and the owners should be ashamed of themselves for offering such a foul environment for paying guests. Would have given zero in every category if it was an option.

My room was dirty as was the towels. The manager did correct the issues, he appeared to be the only person there that we could contact.
Later that evening I used my bathroom specifically for my room ( non en-suite ) and the inside of the toilet was disgusting with fecal matter still there the toilet roll on the floor.
Nothing in the bathroom to use as a cleaner. No complimentary soap.
At breakfast we were greeted with a dirty bar, the area we sat had peanuts all over the floor.
We met a lady called Nan, who told us breakfasts had finished, my granddaughter explained she had asked the manager for breakfast around 9:30-10am due to the children, he agreed that it should be ok.
Nan did gives us a continental breakfast.
She engaged with the children's about their breakfast and we appreciated that.
We left at the allotted time, however there was no sign of the manager in the morning, even though he lives in so we we left our keys on the bar.
Needs some one to oversee the business properly.

On arrival shown to room and told that private bathroom was the other end of the corridor, not good if you need to use the toilet in the middle of the night. Discovered that the room bin had not been emptied and there was a used lateral flow test in it, clearly see it was negative, there was no tv remote either. Bin was changed and remote taken from another room and the blame attached to the cleaner. the bed linen was not fresh and clearly had not been changed since the last guests had used the room. The shower was cold and you needed to be a safe cracker to get the dial in the right spot to get a dribble of hot water. We had booked two nights but only stayed the one and sought accommodation elsewhere. A blessing was that the evening meal and full English breakfast we had was very good and if you are looking for a good hearty, home cooked type meal give this place a try, mother will look after you. Sorry mother you are a lovely host and awesome cook but you need to ditch the clown from Stoke.

Considering we booked a Cornwall trip very last minute, we were extremely impressed with this BnB. Its been very recently taken over and currently not serving food yet - it's clearly been recently redecorated and to a very high standard! I was so happy at how dog Friendly the place was, despite how pristine and clean the rooms were.
I expect with all the things the landlady has planned, it'll turn out really amazing given a bit of time.

Only teeny down sides were that WiFi was really no good (which is fine and they are getting sorted) and that they advertise free breakfast but the only thing you get for free is a bit of cereal and a hot drink - which of course is better than nothing, but I was slightly disappointed at having to pay £6 for a hot breakfast. I wouldn't even advertise a bowl of cereal as free breakfast so I expected a little more. Also more choice would have been good - again, probably something they are looking to implement at a later date.
